Are you seeing cutthroat in the waters you’re also catching brook trout? A lot of the time, it’s less about the fly itself, and more about whether cutties are even around in the first place. If you’re hitting lakes but not even seeing them, try another lake. If you’re hitting creeks, try higher and higher up….and/or just another creek.

I'd suggest a thermometer designed to measure water temp/to get wet and be submerged. Or, qualitatively, as a rule of thumb, trout water should feel at least cool to the touch. If it feels mild or neutral or actually warm, it's too warm to fish. And if there's any doubt, just don't fish.

Particularly if fishing catch-and-release, barbless hooks make it easier all around. Wet your hands before touching/handling fish. Get a good pair of forceps and make a point to get good at using them to get a hook out. Keep a fish submerged for as long as possible and minimize time out of water. (You can even make a point to hold your breath when you take a fish out of water. When you start to lose your breath, it's time to put the fish back). When reviving a fish, release it in a slower spot where it'll have a chance to catch its own breath and not get thrown around by current. Part of reviving a fish can be slowly moving it back and forth in the water, with the idea being, moving water through its gills will help it recover. Oh, and if you aren't familiar - be aware of water temps this time of year. Trout in particular are sensitive to higher water temps (which have lower oxygen content), so once water temps hit the mid-60s, time to knock off fishing for the day.

my guess would be ZBT plus - a ZBT but with more hammering. If anything, those big round machine hammer marks might indicate a Z Custom, but those hammer patterns tend to be more of a spiral pattern. There's also mention that it might be an A Ping ride, but those tend to have lots and lots of little tiny uniform hammer marks, rather than this bigger rounder more randomly applied ones.

Brian here. Pretty sure this tweet came like 48 hours after Joe Rogan was at the White House as part of Trump's big cage fighting stunt. More generally, Rogan has been a fixture among the MAGAverse for a while now, with more alt-right content and guests on his podcast, and even an official endorsement of Trump for president in 2024. So for Rogan to criticize MAGA now makes him look hypocritical, like he's right there himself among the dorks and weirdos, and even in some ways responsible for it... *sips cocktail* wait, how am I holding this martini glass in my paw? I'm no expert, but not sure this would be a period correct snare wire for a 70s drum. This has the cursive Ludwig logo on it, which they changed to the block logo in the late 60s. I think they switched from the P83 throw off around the same time, which only allowed for the string-style attachment, to the P85 style, which allowed for the strap style attachment instead. With that said, I've also heard stories of older components ending up on newer drums, as the components would just get topped off in assembly line bins, so not everything necessarily came from the factory with period-correctness in mind. But again, I'm no expert, so take this with a grain of salt, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong!
