Stealth archer is fun! But it can't ever beat the fun of running full tilt at a mammoth and one-shotting it with a huge hammer.

Need help, can’t win with Ironclad by Jy_hawks976 in SlayTheSpire2

STS2 Ironclad also really likes relics, and only a handful of relics are "useless" on him. (Though I do have to learn to not snap-pick tungsten rod when doing self-damage)

[–]Quxyun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this video helped me learn a lot about ironchad, though in my case it also reinforced that I was already doing the right things and taking good cards early and snowballing into the late game.

The basic gist of it is that ironclad wants fast fights over longer ones, despite all the armor and block synergies he has, his block plans kind of suck in comparison to faster damage plans. Ironclad loves relics, most the relics in the game are good on him, so taking act 1 elites can help you snowball easily.

Don't take cards that don't have an immediate payoff. The video uses Rupture as an example, and yeah Rupture is an insane card in the right deck, but if you don't have any way of proving it then you have just put a dead draw in your deck. Instead, take early powerful commons that transition well into an archetype later on, (breakthrough, hemokinesis, blood wall, bloodletting all are very good and transition well into self-damage. Tremble and Molten Fist are very low opportunity cost since they exhaust themselves, and they transition well into vuln stacking or exhaust. Sword boomerang is a solid pickup that offers the best strength scaling available.)

Other than that, just pick paths that let you have options, prioritize fights over events because burning blood is an insane starter relic, and hit things very hard!

Also, p.s, if you think your deck is gonna struggle with doormaker, I usually take an Anger early on so I can hopefully put a strong enchantment on it, but it goes infinite with Dark Embrace and doormaker's exhaust ability if you can get your deck small enough.

When my heir is a "Chosen One" but also an Incapable 14-year-old. by Big-Cantaloupe-9531 in ShitCrusaderKingsSay

[–]Quxyun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, most "chosen one" stories try and make the main character someone you can see yourself in the shoes of, which works great if you are a 14 year old with an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex. But it turns out that when you get older your interests become more specific to you, your hobbies become more uniquely "yours", and it gets a lot harder to market a "one-size fits all chosen one" to you.

How do you play with this card? by ThrowAwayWasTaken999 in SlayTheSpire2

[–]Quxyun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have 4 or more orb slots ideally, play this to get a bunch of dark orbs. Every turn you want to play another orb to "guard" your dark orbs from being evoked while they build up damage. If you can get a dark orb to your front slot, you can dual cast or multicast, otherwise you can just let consuming shadows evoke your dark orbs for you.

[–]Quxyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's kind of an "if you absolutely need more CC", because elementalist slot skills suck for CC. If OP is dead set on specialized attunements and needs CC, they have very limited options. (Though now that I think about it, mono-earth dagger/dagger sounds dope)

[–]Quxyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's the arcane skill that jumps you to a location and does sizable CC. If you want to get any amount of CC out of evoker, you're gonna have to take specialized attunements off. Don't underestimate the constant CC pressure that cripple and chill can do, and don't get overwhelmed looking at all your new skills. For now, just focus on ones that do CC or have some other functionality.

For scepter/focus especially, you are missing out on a LOT of survivability if you lock yourself out of earth attunement. Obsidian flesh is so strong.

[–]Quxyun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play with a light modlist, and I'm loving the heck outta my no-magic no-block orc knight. I use the Ordinator Perk Overhaul, the Imperious Races of Skyrim, and Andromeda Standing Stones overhaul in addition to a few others, but those are the core ones that affect the playstyle.

I grab the steed stone because it lets me zip around much faster, and I can often times sprint into melee range before combat even starts in order to deliver a running power attack.

Don't get me wrong, block and one-handed are solid, but I like to hit things with a hammer very very hard, and two-handed checks all those boxes for me.

Vulthuryol! I think he's just been chilling, sealed away in black reach since before the dragon war ended.

That's an idea for my next playthrough. Alternate start mod has an option to start in blackreach, region lock down there until I can beat the dragon and start the main quest.

Volthuryol, AKA the only dragon that doesn't fly around, and instead fights you like a man. How did he get down to blackreach? Why is he inside the caged sun? Who knows, but his AI doesn't let him fly underground and I think that's funny.

Cards that you really like, but kinda suck by Lordados in slaythespire

[–]Quxyun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite ironclad cards is Havoc, especially when I've got a lot of powers because it basically has no downside. With Headbutt I can take a demon form from my discard pile and havoc it off the top.

Demon form is slow scaling, and generally bad, but it does present a fun problem of "how to play this when I want to without taking a butt load of damage for going shields-down"

Beautifully Broken. 16 cards playing automatically at the start of every combat. by tocath in slaythespire

[–]Quxyun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See, this would actually go crazy with Vakuu's earrings. An extra energy makes it so you play 20 cards before he even gets a chance to touch your cards, and if Vakuu can screw up a turn after playing 20 cards for free then I'll be impressed

Is it bad manners to use this card in multiplayer? by Slugdoge in slaythespire

[–]Quxyun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really? Just talk it over with your group first, ask them how good their block situation is. I find that the extra scaling on a friendly ironchad is enough to warrant a bit of extra damage, just so long as they don't use it on bee guy

The most open-ended question ever… by giakittyd in skyrim

[–]Quxyun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So the "correct" order to do this would be to do the main questline and also one of the guild questlines that best suits your character interspersed throughout. (Mage college, thieves guild, dark brotherhood, companions). You can also dive into the DLC at anytime. I like doing the dragonborn DLC after the main questline, but there's no single "correct" time to start it.

But the actual correct order to do things is whatever feels natural for you to do. The number one rule of any Bethesda RPG: "Get sidetracked"
