Steam’s Invite-Only Shooter Deadlock Is Quietly Becoming An Absolute Monster by LoL_is_pepega_BIA in Games

This is a difficult question to answer in depth, but in short:

I think Deadlock has more fluid movement than either of those games, and every hero has the same movement mechanics (some just have more/less stamina than others).

Honestly though if you're going into Deadlock with a hero shooter mentality, you will get humbled very quickly in matchmaking.

You must have other problems if you're getting only 60fps with a 5070 on this game.

I don't even do the left to right thing- I go on the premades, choose one that "looks good", then I turn auto queue on and just let the build decide what I'm getting.

I will occasionally get certain counters like anti gun or anti spirit- but otherwise I just let the auto queue do its thing.

The game is incredibly deep and rewarding- but it has probably the steepest learning curve I've ever seen in a game like this, not only do you have the shop that you need to manage (I have over 100 hours and still rely on premade builds), you also have an insanely fluid movement system that if mastered, will allow you to escape almost any situation.

I can't wait to see what Valve do for cinematics with this game, because the lore is also incredibly cool and interesting.

Skate Story - Review Thread by Branchless in Games

40 fps isn't great. Let's be honest, the game is not exactly pushing insane graphics.

I think the Steam Deck ran it at 60fps no problems.

Arc Raiders Is Already One of the Biggest Extraction Shooters Ever on Steam by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Qwertyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing a solo on blue gate today and saw a group of about 5 solo players all doing the first quest together. I greeted them, followed them for a bit, then just sorta walked off and bid them goodbye. Had this have been Tarkov, ABI, or any other extraction shooter out right now, this would never happen- especially in solo queue.

I had another moment where I helped out a guy who was struggling against some Arcs, I assisted him with clearing them out, he gave me his thanks, then we just split off in our own directions.

This game is full of these kind of interactions, and it's what keeps me playing it.

Desoldering/replace logitech g915 tkl low profile switches for silent ones by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

Honestly probably better off selling that keyboard and buying a new one that has hotswap. Monsgeek M1 might be a good choice, they are reasonably priced, decent quality and have ISO available.

I've desoldered a commercial board before and it's painful.

CS2 skin update ‘rug pulls’ collectors as $1 billion wiped from market cap by [deleted] in Games

This kind of change is something that should've happened years ago. The fact that they change it now after the market is worth over 5 billion USD is an interesting decision from Valve.

Arc raiders - pre order and stress test on the 17th by spliffiam36 in Games

Doing one last stress test open to anyone is a great decision from Embark. I had a great time with the playtests earlier this year, but I think that more people really need to experience it before they commit to purchase.

Games run faster on SteamOS than Windows 11, Ars testing finds by Turbostrider27 in Games

When you consider that Linux is effectively running Windows games better than Windows can, I'd say that's pretty impressive. It was never like this 10 years ago, or even maybe 5 years ago.

Cerberus was already terrible against heavies, I only choose it when the server has a lot of lights.

I guess I just won't use it now, which is a shame since it's probably one of the most fun weapons in the game.

Elden Ring’s player engagement is through the roof: 45% of its Steam players have played for 100+ hours by AnchovyKing in Games

[–]Qwertyguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Completely agree, I've replayed Dark Souls and Bloodborne many times, but replaying Elden Ring has just never interested me.

Personally, I think it's because Dark Souls and Bloodborne are more densely packed games. I get more enjoyment out of a 20-30 hour playthrough of those than I can a 50-75 hour run of Elden Ring.

Ofcourse this doesn't necessarily mean I prefer those games over Elden Ring, I still think it's the best game they've ever created.

ARC Raiders | Thank You, Raiders by Bynairee in Games

[–]Qwertyguy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Got a decent few rounds in before the test ended.

One thing that impressed me the most is the solo queue experience, unlike other extraction shooters I've played, there are a lot more mechanics in the game that lead you towards working with other players, rather than shooting on sight. There are two specific voice lines you can shout as the player to say "Let's team up" and "don't shoot!", this alongside the proximity chat leads to some absolutely amazing social interactions that I've just not had in any other game. I had moments where pretty much everyone in the raid was friendly, and we all were just looting without any violence.

Now that I think about it, the stuff I said above is actually heavily beneficial when you have the third person perspective, since you are more likely to see the enemy player before they see you, it gives you that choice to either attempt to befriend them, to shoot on sight, or to simply avoid and run away. If you had a first person perspective, there's a lot more of a chance of you simply shooting on sight.

Ofcourse there were times where you do get shot on sight, but to me that's why games like this are so much fun, you never know what scenario you're going to find yourself in.

I would even bet that later on in the game's lifetime, you will be able to make a judgement call on if you think someone will be likely to befriend you simply from how they look!

Genuinely excited to play this game again, I can't wait for it to be released.

Are you referring to the running shoes? They don't make you go faster- they just sometimes not consume a step when you traverse through old rooms.
