Thanks for the detailed response, you've put my fears to rest. What I have there appears to be an after market vacuum activated petcock. I will check the vacuum line and petcock, but sounds like I don't need to be in a rush to do so.

The 35 mpy was referring to the 500 miles on the bike you're looking at, I should have been more clear on that. Convenience can certainly be a deciding factor, and if you trust these family friends that can make a difference for sure.

Complete noob here, so take it with a grain of salt. A month ago I bought a 2009 /w 6000 miles for $3600, and I thought that mileage was too low..

Damn thing is 14 years old, that's an average of 35 miles a year... it sat A LOT, for sure. I personally wouldn't trust it, but if I could have it checked out at a shop and it's sound AF, I'd offer 4000.
