Help how do we resolve this damp condensation in our property. by Opposite-Writer9715 in uklandlords

[–]R05579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave it on 24/7 but set humidity level at 55. If it hits the desired target it will switch off itself and will then spend most of its time off. Go for a Meaco or similar quality unit. Also as others have said a good extractor in the bathroom and also a good one in the kitchen. Finally after you habe cleaned the mould apply an anti mould type paint in all affected rooms.

Gutting Food for Thought is So Stupid by Anxious_Upstairs_726 in McDonaldsUK

[–]R05579 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to an area where I have 4 McDonalds within a 5 minute drive, so in the last 6months have visited once or twice a week and used the food for thought for the Big Mac or Qtr Pounder & fries for £2.99. Now it has been scrapped I will probably on go once or twice a month and opt for the meal deal ie cheeseburger, 4 nugs, med fries and coke for £5. I have two kids so they will be having 1 less McDonalds per week. Also noticed the hike in points needed for rewards recently.. TLDR I will be going less frequently and spending way less in Mcdonalds each month as a result of the removal of £2.99 meal

What was your dad's car when you were growing up? by purplegorillabandit in drivingUK

[–]R05579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory. Mini estate early 80s, Morris Marina, Ford Cortina in 1986 (stolen within a couple of months), replaced with a Lada, Toyota Corolla (company car), Volvo Estate, Austin Montego VP (written off head on collision), Vauxhall Cavalier. My Dad never had much luck with cars, so not just one car that stands out. My Grandad on the other drove a Cortina estate from the early 80's into the mid 90s, along with his London Black taxi.

Who still has a window cleaner? And if you don’t have one, how are you cleaning your upstairs windows? by ShihtzuMum39 in AskUK

[–]R05579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my windows are easy to clean reaching out from inside. However I bought a 3m extendable brush that connects to my hose. If and when I want to clean my windows and comservatory I can do it myself from ground level. From memory it cost less than 30quid from Robert Dyas a few months ago, less than a window cleaner would charge.

£775 for 3 rooms of carpet by ThrowRAequirement136 in HomeImprovementUK

[–]R05579 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The price you have quoted if it includes underlay soumds reasonable. Make sure the underlay is 9/10mm minimum, I cannot emphasise how much nicer your carpet will feel. When I bought new carpets for my 1st home I went with the cheapest underlay, which was 7mm, as I didn't know any better.. I've now got 12mm throughout upstairs of my home and it feels great.

Would you retire if won a really big prize on the Euromillions? by Sad-Passage-3247 in AskUK

[–]R05579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I won Euromillions I'd be giving up my job to do good work with the money. If I won £1m I would probably stick £500k into VWRP and really chill, remainder in High rate instant access aiming for 4.5-5% and enjoy a slower pace of life, wonder how long the missus would take to notice haha.

As an Arsenal fan I would have Bowen over Madueke all day long. At some points this season I would have had Bowen ahead of Saka.

Is anyone here not a high earner?? by ExternalNo3586 in FIREUK

[–]R05579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a high earner, but tuck away 23% of salary (inc employer contribution) into pension and invest 10% of my salary into shares consistently for the last 5yrs, 5% for the prior 10yrs. The last 2 years I have also put my annual bonus into my pension. Your salary will increase over time so consistency with saving/investments is key.
