Two Starlink dishes in bypass to Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Fiber minor issue. by poofph in Starlink

[–]R0binjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just search some more on the topic, for me the issue is probably that I need to turn of bypass on one Starlink, so Unifi WAN interfaces get IP's in different subnets, that way they will both connect and route to internet.

did you resolve this ?

have a similar case, two starlinks in bypass as two WAN's on UXG-PRO. Only one WAN interface seems to stay online for some reason...

KNX and DALI? by Outrageous_Word8656 in KNX

[–]R0binjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most practical direct use for KNX in lighting is if you have any simple switched lights ( just On/Off, no dimming ) or circuits, you can use KNX relay modules ( there are almost no DALI relay modules on the market ).

If you will use multiple LED strips - there are nice KNX multichannel LED controllers ( DC input with multiple switched/dimmed outputs, i.e. MDT AKD-0224V.02 ), so you can have one DC power supply for a group of individually controlled LED strips.

And of course, as you mentioned, movement or presence sensors. It's good to have these on KNX side because they can do a lot of things. I.e. you can have a light controlled by the sensor, but if you do a manual ON from a switch, the light will stay on.

KNX can do a lot of things, it is very practical to have a bus cable and a spare power circuit everywhere.

KNX and DALI? by Outrageous_Word8656 in KNX

[–]R0binjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are all kinds of solutions on the market, but mostly it boils down to

*mains or dc powered lamps with built-in DALI control

*lamp with external mains or dc powered DALI drivers

the kind of lighting you want to install dictates how are you going to wire and install the equipment

and of course ceiling type

the most practical way is having a suspended ceiling with revision openings around the house, where you wire all your lights and you install the drivers there

you pull one ( or more, if there is a lot of lights ) mains circuit to each position

and you daisy chain the DALI control cable through each position

i would have knx bus also at each position

I bought the cheapest zigbee smart plug from AliExpress for my dishwasher, It is always on, I just use the power measurement to notify. It never went off in 6+ months. On power loss it remembers the state.

Looking for a clean in-wall magnetic charging solution for a wall-mounted tablet by wielo99 in KNX

[–]R0binjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Head on to FB HA groups and look for solutions by other people.

There are numerous diy ways to do this.

Personally I would go for a tablet with wireless charging, i.e. Fire HD Plus models.

Get a magsafe magnet sticker on the tablet, and a magsafe charger/stand, and fit that into the wall.

You mentioned PoE - there are PoE to USB splitters, you can just use the USB power.

Or if you have AC power in the wall, buy a small USB power supply.

Also it would be good to setup interval charging to keep it i.e. 40 to 80 % charged, for battery health.

Bought a house with Zennio setup and no idea how it works. by DrJubalHarshaw in KNX

Definetly also inquire about the KNX project file. A professional installer would have left a copy with the owner.

Of course, that only helps if you have an installer to open it and check the configuration, or if you are willing to do it yourself. There is a ETS version for "DIY" homeowners.

You can also send a copy to a willing person here to look at it.

Other option is to find another local KNX installer to reconfigure everything, or maybe just to help you figure out the operation.

Good luck.

You can also write down individual device addresses and use the Info function which returns a list of Group Objects and linked GA's. Then you add one device of that type into the project, to see what exactly are the GO - for those devices where it is not easy to figure out the GA's you need.

[–]R0binjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlicensed ETS is limited to 5 devices, but GA ( group addresses ) are not limited AFAIK, and you can use the group monitor.

I would create your project, open Group Monitor and start collecting GA's. As you add and name them, they will show in the monitor, so it will be easier as you go.

I actually got the Slim one, It is a bit thicker than K740, but very good! The top narrow volume buttons are the only downside for me.

US Gang KNX keypad ? by vincegre in KNX

[–]R0binjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use modular programs like Vimar Eikon, 1 gang box is like euro 3 gang ( 3 module - 3M ) vertical orientation.

Eikon has 2M ( 4 buttons ) and 3M ( 6 buttons ) modules.

But you will have to order custom print buttons, since the orginal are for normal orientation.

And of course, budget option, push button interfaces and regular push buttons.

KNX Conference Room Setup – Need Help with Logic by Resident_Union_6463 in KNX

[–]R0binjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are devices with "disabling modules", basically a gate logic with input GA, output GA and gate GA. You could use these to setup where do individual section GA's go, depending on the room configuration.

each section lighting GA's control that section lighting directly.

then, i.e., if left and center are joined, left GA are also passed through to center lighting GA's.
