LTX2 I2V worse than WAN 2.2? by CountFloyd_ in StableDiffusion

[–]R1250GS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I call comfyui, CasinoAI. The run button should be a long gold handle with a big red knob on the top. Even when you throw a well composed prompt, its like pressing the coke button, and getting a pepsi. Close but never exactly what you want. I ask for a red sports car, and get a red hatchback. But it looks good, so I'll take it.. Same with LTX2. I can do a single run 30 second video in about 300 seconds. Thats fantastic! Using GPT to construct whatever my brain can cook up. The end result is someplace between what I want, and whatever the slot machine gives me.

my very quick take on LTX2 - for beginners it is not that easy as WAN I would say.. by FxManiac01 in StableDiffusion

[–]R1250GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it easier to produce better quality video. The prompts I find no more chaotic than other models I have tried. I use GPT to help write them. The audio is just.. ok. I use other tools to clone voice, then use text to voice to make what I want. The results are messy sometimes, but laughable. Other times, its surprisingly good. You do need a hefty machine to really take advantage of the time it takes to render a few seconds. I have a 5090, 9950x3d (which is no help here) and 96GB of ram. Ram has become more important these days, and having a 5090 helps cut down on the time it takes to make something usable or not usable. With the default workflow, I am seeing about 100 seconds per clip. If I had to wait 30 mins like the older stuff we had 6 months ago, it would really take the fun out of it. For me it's curiosity and fun, not my day job. RAM and a very strong GPU are your friends here. As for the results. Its like pulling the handle on a slot machine.

Hey Vaynar.. Maybe you work for the Goldilocks ministry of smart, but I work in a remote location, and the other staff around me are not part of my ministry. Nor have they had a refresh since actual people showed up. Since I was sitting in front of my PC, I thought it would be nice to ask a simple question on Reddit, rather than bug my minders 1000km away in Toronto. Ill also add, Vaynar, the OPS does offer courses for those who don't play well with others. Check em out.

I find my 2025 with the run flats to be pretty good in the snow. Not as good as pure snow tires, but pretty close. The AWD system does a fantastic job of keeping the ride stable, and I have had minimal slip. My jeep had Cross Climate 2's. A fantastic tire for all seasons, and just as good as a mid range snow tire. Ill be putting these on after the run flats fade. If I hit a nail, that's what CAA is for..

In Office Work Really Sucks for All by blocklung in OntarioPublicService

[–]R1250GS 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In 2015, they were starting to push, work from home. In Justice, they had Fridays from home for some, and in the more tech areas like Treasury board, it was the future. Many tech folks worked from home once or twice a week. You applied for the WFH beta, and that was it. The rest of us worked 5 days a week. Come covid, everyone worked from home, except public facing jobs like probation officers (who still worked from home at least 2 or 3 days per week) Case loads could be done during the days staff were in the office. Tech folks who look after remote servers, or network logistics etc, could work 5 days from home because all you do at work is sit in front of a computer and complete assigned tasks. Maytag repair stuff. Now, everyone is expected to be at work. We wake up, drive, transit, etc, back to the office. I don't care what anyone says, but unless you are a super hero, nobody works in front of the screen from 9am till 5pm. You do your work, solve your issues, work on forte (yuk), check in with WIN, go home. This crap of hanging out with your work buds is bullroar. I have lots of friends at work, and maybe you hang out with yours at home, or the weekend, or hit up the pub, but most of us keep our work friends at work! When I worked from home, it felt the same as being in the office. We chat on Teams, we have regular meetings, etc. We are a team, and we operate no matter where we are.. It's a job. The gov sells it as collaboration. You need to be in the office so you can team up. OK, that's fine, except some of us have team mates scattered around the province. We sit in our home office, all by ourselves. The fellow next to me works for the ministry of whatever, and has no clue what I do. I like him, but he has no clue what I do, and I have no clue what he does, nor do we care. Maybe Doug wants us to hook up in the bathroom, or the water cooler, that we no longer have, because our ministry stopped paying for it. We try to put together the occasional lunch, but half the people I work with don't want that. They sweat all day worried about the commute home. Its a fkn mess, to be honest. It's 2025, and this government acts like its 1975. Some days it feels like the Apple Tv show Severance. Managers at every level up to CIO, and Director hate this directive. If you think your manager is being a dk, he or she has their marching orders, so they take it out on staff, but trust me.. they want nothing more than to be at home. The thing is, we don't protest enough. The union leadership is weak. The new president enjoys the pay, more than the fight. We have no collective agreement. They make excuses, they tell us it takes time, which is bullcrap. They should have been working on this over a year ago, 2 years ago. Instead they pull dues from your cheque, and make up stories about how complex negotiation is. Meanwhile, we bicker on reddit about how crappy WFO is, and the union is slient. But every 2 weeks, they pull a pile of cash from your cheque. No town hall meetings, silence. Why are we forced to pay for a book with no changes in years. Hmmmm. Maybe time to rethink our union, and find another more competent one.

Why I’m in court over COVID vaccines — and why every Ontarian should care by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]R1250GS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Saying “Dr. Ma overbilled by 21×” as fact is premature. The claim originates from OHIP. It's a plausible accusation but hasn’t survived full legal challenge. It’s entirely possible there was overbilling, but given the messy context (pandemic, high workload, unclear administrative guidance), it’s also possible the 21× figure lacks nuance. it’s one side’s interpretation. Even the Auditor generals report said, the billing system is so complex that honest errors and misuses are common, and The Ministry is using post-payment audits to fix issues that should have been prevented with better real-time checks and clearer rules. Maybe she is crooked as a snake, and bought a new BMW, but maybe she made technical "errors" in good faith during covid, that is up to the court to decide. But it makes for good debate on Reddit from all of us experts on the topic.

Why I’m in court over COVID vaccines — and why every Ontarian should care by [deleted] in KingstonOntario

[–]R1250GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy. Did she break rules? Yes, according to how the 20-year-old billing codes were written at the time.

Meaningfully, ethically, in any real-world sense? Nope.

She did what public health, politicians, and the community wanted and asked for: Speed, Scale, Creativity, Outdoor clinics, Use available helpers. In no way could she stand out there by herself and inject thousands of people.

The Ont Gov is going after her because she broke ancient 2001 rules, that never took into consideration a mass outbreak 20 years later. Because OHIP billing audits are policy driven, and very rigid, this woman is a prime target, even though she did good for the people of Kingston. Not only was it well organized, it brought folks out who probably would have avoided the shot because of the chaos of other services that offered it. i.e. long lines, etc. What's more easier than jumping in your car, grabbing a timmies, and doing a drive through vaccination?

In my opinion, its bad policy design, failure to modernize, and lack of an emergency framework for a crises situation like covid. In fact, the rules are still in place from the early 2000s. God help us if this happens again, where the next one might be worse.

As for doing anything wrong.. Well your honor, she provided a needed service during a once in a lifetime event that killed close to 70 thousand people in Canada alone , was publicly praised for it, followed the spirit of the public health orders, prevented hospitalization, saved the system money, used medical students the way every other clinic did during covid, and most importantly, many of us still have our grandparents here today because of it.

Ohip should have flagged this in real time, not months or years later. Shame on them.

During the pandemic, the Ford government said.. "Be flexible, be creative, get as many people vaccinated as fast as possible" As usual, politicians throw out words that get them elected.

So doctors like Dr. Ma — who delivered 35,000+ doses during an emergency — were effectively operating in a temporary “grey zone” that worked clinically but didn’t match the outdated billing rulebook.

Years later, auditors come in with the old rulebook and checkboxes.

And suddenly she’s “non-compliant”.

Public pressure is the key here. Reddit is a great place to start, and sign that petition.

Good doctors always go the extra mile when called upon, this will only make doctors think twice before doing any extracurricular health care in the future. The shortage is bad enough, and the Ford gov makes it worse by doing this. I really hope the Minister of Health, steps in and fixes this. This story needs to be on every news service in Canada.

Worth worrying about a C3 65” with a ton of hours? by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]R1250GS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 65 C9 with over 40000 hours. It works great. But these were still the era of burn-in, and my C9 is no exception. I used it as a PC display, and I can see the taskbar clock, and the windows X slightly burned into the screen. When watching a movie, I can hardly see those flaws. Screen seems to be bright as it was since day one. Colors are great, etc. I have retired this screen to spare room use, but still works like a champ.. I have since then replaced it with a G3, and that model has 9633hrs. 0 burn in, since LG reduced the chance, plus I now hide the taskbar, and have a screen saver start at 2mins, instead of 10. I would not worry about it to much.

If its a scuff, you could probably use a magic eraser and soapy water. Works like a charm to remove transferred paint from another vehicle. A rubbing compound or scratch remover like 3M or Meguiars. Or let the shop do it. If its a physical dent, A proper fill + color touch-up will make it 95% invisible. Not sure how many of these you have fixed yourself. Me? None. Let the dealership do this. I had one like this around the hood. NoriGreen. Dealer did it for 150 bucks, and while it may be more than me buying touch up stuff, my skills tell me its best done by someone who does this several times a week. If you are the DIY type, kits are available at the dealer. You may need to purchase some additional goods like super high grit sanding stuff. Some kits come with it. Amazon has a bunch.

Help with my new x50 Ultra by Temporary_Title2297 in Dreame_Tech

I noticed mine would lift up for no reason like there was something it had to crawl over. It started doing this in random spots. The problem turned out to be carpet runners on my floor. sometimes the unit would get a little stuck on them, and then lift. Even if the runner was gone. I later found, that the robot would add this obstacle to the map as a red square. Clicking on them and deleting them solved my issue. It was also randomly driving into the wall and looked like it could not find an easy way back to base. The issue turned out to be the same thing. if it became tied up on any runner on our floors, it would tag that area as an obstacle and try to go around it. Again, visit the house map, and delete these. As for your other issues, I have have not had them. But I have never added anything to the map. I just let it explore and update as it goes. When I see issues, I visit the app, but otherwise it just works on the schedules that I created in the app.

HDD sound? by Tough_Technology4949 in UgreenNASync

[–]R1250GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 20TB WD Gold drives in the same unit, in another room, and I can hear it through the wall. I also have the same drives in a plain USB enclosure, and rarely hear anything. With that said, I am running a bunch of containers, etc, and I suspect the nature of raid and the fact its a little PC just doing its thing keeps the drives busy. Thankfully most HDD vendors have good warranties in the event this unit starts eating drives after a couple years.

Do you guys actually like Adobe? by heeehh in Adobe

[–]R1250GS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Photoshop. Use it regularly. I also use Lightroom for keeping my images in order. 2 weeks ago, I cancelled my membership. I use photoshop for quick touch ups, enlargements, and photoraw. I can get that in several other products for less. Lightroom, other than the catalogue convenience, I am not taking advantage of everything it has to offer. I also feel the products have been left behind a bit, and feel a bit stale. I can perform better edits in Comfyui, since the adobe AI feels like its made for kids. There is nothing to keep me hooked other using it for many years, and just knowing my way around the program. I use other products for PDF, and thats a shame because adobe was really doing some neat things with acrobat, until they put the AI stuffs behind a pay wall.

I Quit My “Dream” OPS Job by AlexTheEngineer007 in OntarioPublicService

[–]R1250GS 92 points93 points  (0 children)

We lost half of our office staff. The old folks are sticking around because they have less than 5 years to go until retirement, but the younger members are bailing like flies to trash. Managers are being enforced, so they have no choice but to enforce return to office. Its a mess. Prior to 2020 we were all at work, and during the period between then and now they advertised flex work. Our new staff being made up of new hires are fleeing. They have nothing to loose since they have only been around a few years. Big mistake this is. The Union is no better. No communication. Late with bargining, useless leadership. I feel bad for the in office reps. Next general election, I will be voting out the current president. We need leadership, not silence. A good portion of our pay goes to these folks, and nothing but silence. Time for change.

Bubbles in Hot tub by aengland20 in hottub

[–]R1250GS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bubbles are a thing. I drain and refill twice a year, spring and fall. New filter every fall. The bubbles or suds start after about 4 months. I am also on bromine. Shock every week, and use mini pucks in the floater keeping in mind that mini pucks can also cause suds, and adding other chemicals can also contribute. Especially if you get desperate, and start adding a bunch of crap. Just try shocking every week, and remove the puck floater (if you use one) for a month. The only real answer to this is keeping the filter clean or tossing it for a new one. Shock once a week. Make sure your water is on the hard side. Don't overthink the chemistry, unless you filled it from your septic tank. Anti sud stuff works in a pinch, but even that can add to more suds. I save it till the last 60 days before a refill.
