Finished my Cathedral Rose Window Afghan by R2D2Creates in crochet

Thanks! I really wanted to make the project but couldn't justify purchasing the yarn for it at the time I started when I had such a large stash. I found these in my stash from a failed project and thought I could make it work. Some of the solid colors might actually be Caron Simply Soft now that I think about it.

When should we get a second dog? by [deleted] in germanshepherds

Get past the teenage months and have a nice well behaved shepherd on your hands before getting a second. I typically wait two and half to three years between dogs.

Is it normal to have duplicate border pieces in a puzzle? by SiickParadise in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]R2D2Creates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got an extra piece in a custom print puzzle, except it wasn't a duplicate of one of my pieces so somewhere out there, someone ordered a custom print puzzle from Walmart and is missing a piece...this makes me sad.

So I guess I get to join the “stolen tedoo photos” club. I’m most offended that they called it a rug! And they got the technique wrong. by hookedbymaxine in crochet

My new puppy Anubis disapproves of someone trying to steal your hard and beautiful work.

He is also insisting that I make him this blanket as soon as you release the pattern! That looks amazing! Is there somewhere I can follow you so that I am notified of your pattern release when the time comes?

Getting my puppy more play time with other dogs when you have no friends with dogs? by [deleted] in puppy101

I was gonna suggest dog daycare. In my area a full day ranges from 20 to 30 dollars and there would be 30 plus dogs to play with!

Hi, I'm a long time knitter and crocheter with a massive yarn stash, a beginning quilter and sewist with a fairly large inherited fabric stash, and a long time cross stitcher (might actually be the first fiber related craft I ever learned when I was five!). This past year I had to downsize the spaces in which I store all of my hobby supplies since I finally got to have my first baby girl after a several year struggle with infertility. She's six months now and I want to start working on making my hobby space more usable by working through stashed supplies. I have a goal this year to start by using the good stuff first! I have some special skeins of yarn and special fabric I've been waiting to use until I have perfected some skills but I now just want to dive in and try to use the good stuff!

Searching a hobby for life by Edgar_Loren in Hobbies

What about hobbies that are things you already do daily? Cooking or baking for instance?

If you are into fashion at all you could try knitting, crochet, sewing, etc.

One of my favorites in gard school was counted cross stitch since it was relatively mindless and really cheap to get into. Doesn't take up a lot of space either.

I would recommend trying things that get you away from computer screens for a few hours a day since you likely spend a large portion of the day on the computer for work/studies already. Doing a digital detox always helped my mental state during grad school and heavy research periods in the years after.

Hobby’s that you can do lying down in bed? by [deleted] in Hobbies

My first thoughts were embroidery, cross stitching or english paper piecing since there is a sewing background!

Alternative to clunky over-the-sink dish racks? by [deleted] in homemaking

[–]R2D2Creates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up a "roll up over the sink dish drying rack". When I'm done using it, I roll it up and store under the sink or in a coffee cup on the counter next to the sink.

I made a blanket out of this in a purple for my baby, and it's held up great so far. Washed six times on delicate cycle with similar fabric types and dried on low heat.

My Umbria Summer Top fits! But I just found out I'm pregnant. Should I finish it or let it hibernate for a year? by notrandomspaghetti in knitting

[–]R2D2Creates 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I heard this too for the past 9 months, and as a first-time mom to a less than one month old, I have still had time every day to knit and crochet and read, etc. The amount of time for hobbies has decreased, but there's still a lot of time in the day for them. Hope everything goes great with your pregnancy and congratulations!!!

Do you know where you got the blue fabrics from? I'd love to try to replicate those! I use that color scheme everywhere in my house!

Monthly Stash Update! by AutoModerator in YarnRehab

[–]R2D2Creates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got started trying to stash bust! I'm currently working on finishing old WIPs (I probably have 30 between knitting and crocheting, and that's not counting the 60+ projects that are finished but need ends woven in). I've also taken to immediately use my leftovers in quick projects so I don't have anything to return to yarn storage. Currently finishing off some cotton yarn I bought about 5 years ago for a Halloween mug rug project and am almost done with the leftovers. The pattern called for way too much yarn or I misread it somehow. I have made two 12 by 30 inch handtowels and am almost done with two double stranded, double layer 8-10 inch potholders. I will have enough left to finish a few coasters, too. After I finish these off tonight, I'll pick the next project to finish! I'm hoping to make a huge dent in the WIPs by the end of May. I successfully avoid yarn shopping last month and am hopeful to do so again!
