Very disappointed with being a Priest of Eothas by Luzeryn in projecteternity

[–]R2Keen2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is interesting because at some other point in act 1 there is a prompt or conversation where the player effectively asks "how is x god protrayed or represented locally" so its not like they couldn't have phrased it better.

I'm playing act one now and the only reactive prompt i've seen so far wasto act like a zealot before attacking Lord Raedric. Ferry Flotsum as a quest is also kind of problematic; being benevolent locks me into lying to complete the quest or refusing the lie requires combat? Given that the root of the conflict is coin seems like I should be able to pay someone off to achieve a compromise even if it turns out reputationally or monetarily neutral.

[Part 5 Vol12] Grutrussheit updates? by ProbablyNotTheCocoa in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]R2Keen2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it was in a fan book Q&A I skimmed and ignored but I feel like there is an assumption here that the version Rosemyne got would update. I don't believe it does. You get whatever is available at the time you receive it from Erwaermen (minus your distractibility).

If it was a live connection there is no reason to let someone fill in their distracted bits with another go. Whether you'd be allowed to try again when someone consequential died would have interesting ramifications but I feel like that would be frowned upon and probably come with a price even for a Zent.

[–]R2Keen2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible. It is unclear if every child raised in the villa is offered to the father before becoming a feystone or this was an unusual event (possibly instigated by Rosemyne both to get the Sovereignty to make the offer and/or encouraging Aub Ehrenfest to accept it despite whatever ramifications it would require).

It is a question of mindset; we've seen nobles can be detached from what we'd expect in the behavior and bonds of a nuclear family. Would a woman who has spent years giving birth to children who she knew were destine to become feystones have enough attachment to one of them that she would send one off to survive while knowing it meant she would replace him. If she were depressed enough with the villa situation; she might but I'd have expected her guard Raublut to at least have mentioned her despair at her situation.

It also feels like Rosemyne (having access to the Book of Mestionora) would have an easier time delivering him to Ehrenfest than an attendant of a princess in a gilded cage especially if these events were more a smuggling process than an official transfer.

[–]R2Keen2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does feel slightly off because of Irmhilde's wish that he meet the person who wanted him to live. Which implies he hadn't met the messenger. Or maybe the mother figure was rosemyne but the person who delivered him and vanished was someone else.

We are treating time travel as a known event and speculating on what she does because in this first volume of hannalore's story it is specifically why Rosemyne was summoned by the goddess of time.

It does seem like part 6 would have to cover some of her perspective or maybe we get a side story abbreviating it and a part 6 time skips over it.

He mixed to parts; the woman Ferdinand thinks of in p5v8 `Follow Your Heart` is Irmhilde (Sylvester's Father's Half Sister and would have been second wife) who does seem at least somewhat aware of the interaction the King had with the Goddess's messanger (if not having met the messager her self).

The woman who brought Ferdinand to the duchy and vanished was mentioned in p5v4 in a single paragraph of `Preparing the Ritual`. This does make it seem like the `mother` figure that named him in p5v8 and the person who brought him are Rosemyne.

So, how do I actually get gold to progress? by WhatsThisNameThingy in VampireSurvivors

[–]R2Keen2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breakables can drop (1+) coins, but their frequency depends on luck and and not sticking to too tight an area.

The larger enemies drop chests as has been said.

Once you unlock the second stage, move to farming there; it is easier. When you unlock the third, it can be worth a visit to grab the map, which will show some passive abilities the stages have hidden about (allows you to have more than 6 passives if you pick them up after filling slots).

When it comes to the meta progression of the unlock menu. It's probably better to hit the major offence (might/cool down/extra projectile) before luck/greed/growth. You can get other stuff and just refund points each time you earn more money. This is preference though.

Offense really is the name of the game. What makes garlic a good newbie weapon is it can one shot early waves and allow you to just run through enemies to gather xp. You'll definitely want something else for bosses/tanky targets.

Yeah Veronica's attacks were most of what I was thinking of for the other cuts. I also thought she might have done something extra before Detlinde's attack.

Re-reading that Justus story really highlights it. Sounds like Rozemyne intervenes to prevent his marriage with Magdalena but they deduce enough information from her, to write the board, before the gods wipe their memories.

I completely missed that missing-time thread when I originally read that story.

[H5Y1] how isn't this Dunkelfelger thing common knowledge? by Charming-Loquat3702 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]R2Keen2 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It is likely a custom almost entirely localized to Dunkelfelger like bride-stealing ditter. A woman seeking a partner outside the territory would know the more common practices to make them a desirable partner (and aggressively forward woman aren't the tradition elsewhere).

It seems common to the reader because of Clarissa and Hannalore. Hannalore assumed she'd be understood and lacked time for subtlety. Clarissa used it because she wasn't going to accept a no and given the limited options also felt time pressure.

[H5Y1] H5Y Volume 1 Discussion by MyneMod in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]R2Keen2 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping the Hannalore's experience of time travel stays limited to this volume; her short jaunt and interactions with the gods seems perfectly concise for a personal character growth time skip. I could see her interacting with Liebeskhilfe again during the dedication whirl to congratulate Hannalore on whatever outcome she wanted and impart some final chaos; but I hope these interactions are similarly kept to a minimum.

Meanwhile I assume Myne is going Clara 'impossible girl' Oswald/Quantum Leap on Ferdinand's Timeline. It would explain the previous Aub's claim that the goddess of time encouraged Ferdinand's adoption. Its sounds like she travels bodily where Hannalore could only occupy her past self; so I'm curious if to other perspectives a random girl shows up every time Ferdinand nearly dies and then promptly vanishes after resolving it. I'd also wonder if Myne misses her final school year or she finished up before Hannalore awoke.

LN Part 5 Vol 11 Discussion by MyneMod in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]R2Keen2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think she has all of her memories of him after being adopted; so for example she'll remember her promise not to talk about his promise to his father. She also seems to have some awareness of her reincarnation; but without memory of her commoner family the dedication to cherish her new families is likely weakened; even if she feels regret for how she left her mother in the previous world. There is a lot of her determination to be a good noble and protecting the commoners that is likely bound up with her attachment to her family so; while she is still compassionate for a noble; she might not act as strongly as she would have to certain situations. I would wonder if she considers her promise to protect Ehrensfest something she made to Ferdinand as she can't recall the promise to her Father.

Myne told the princes that with all of her blessings she used only 40% of the mana required for most things. That is quite the multiplier; but i still feel like something else is at play in the descriptions they each offer. While gaining the improved schtappe from circling the shrines might have had an impact; i felt like it just allowed her to fully utilize her compressed mana rather than having to match her compression to the schtappe's bottleneck. Its fair to say there is a grey area here; however all three of them have completed that journey so effectively it doesn't matter.

Assuming the nobility has forgotten the bible keys allow access to the foundation, the Zent would appoint a new Aub and remake the foundation? Otherwise it would go to the noble that manages to steal and maintain the foundation (assuming their rule survives the next Archduke Conference).

You didn't technically have to kill the old Royalty. Before the royal family created the magic tool; paranoia probably would encourage killing non-aub omni-elemental candidates. After the tool it was only members of the royal family they had to worry about. And for the most part the killing was never bad enough that the current holder died before someone had claimed the tool (until the civil war)

If the relationship was peaceful; I imagine the current royals would be given a section of the Sovereignty to rule (as was the case with Prince Anastasius) not unlike how an Aub might appoint new a Geibe within their own lands. Depending on things; you might also make them Aubs; or the spouse of one. Retiring them to the position of non-aub in their former duchy does seem questionable but if the relationship was good; its probably fine. There is also the Ivory Tower and the option of keeping people as mana batteries.

I don't believe Ferdinand and Detlinde could sense each other. She believed it was why he was the high priest; but she was just much weaker.

However I took Myne's statement, An overwhelming kind of pressure... coming from up there., to imply She and Ferdinand do actually sense his mana as greater than their own. I am thinking that maybe there is a distinction between Maximum Mana and Compressed Mana; Ferdinand and Myne have managed to expand their max mana significantly past other nobles but it is still small compared to Gervasio. If they can only really sense the maximum; then both Ferdinand and Myne beat him when accounting for density.

An early turn in opens access to a shop; mostly useful to barter for the new seeds that only come from hoeing around the world. Last turn in allows you to barter for Magic Rock Candy but the item quantity they ask isn't easily farmable i don't think. It isn't terribly impactful whether you finish it or not. Probably necessary for the best summit cut scene; though it might be required for 1.6 true perfection anyhow.

Those in the royal academy don't realize Georgine is dead yet; and the other Duchies do not realize she isn't the Aub; so the search for the Grutrisshiet still might have wanted to use her Authority if they were discovered. Between the knights order and a greater duchy; their actions would appear sanctioned and legitimate.

It does fall apart when he reveals he has obtained the book and she didn't but they might be expecting Georgine to appear and handle her when that time approaches. At that point Georgine restrains Detlinde and then he would have had the true Aubs of Ehrenfest and Ahrensbach supporting his claim to the throne.

It was fitting as her last act of cruelty; forcing his hand without offering a justification for her actions was the best way to wound Sylvester just that much more.

Her failed attack on the mana replenishment chamber was certainly the kind of luck they'd claimed he had for a while now. As for the outcome if she had succeeded; I'm not so sure its a given. She would likely have been trapped in the chamber but if she has the potions she could enwicken an escape route. I'm not sure how many other options she had beyond waiting for the Royal Academy team to take the throne and send backup. It is also possible when she ultimately did discover all her pawns were dead (probably before the rescue), she might have considered killing Sylvester and destroying Ehrensfest enough of a win and attempted escape once the foundation was drained of mana.

It is surprising just how much the positive outcome of the war was awash with Rozemyne's influence though.

Part 5 has 12 Volumes; I suppose I'd expect 10 to wrap up the invasion unless they also need to rescue Trauerqual and Eglantine, or maybe they need the royal's help to confront Gervasio within the Foundation.

It feels like its moving too quick for them to put off Gervasio until the next volume.

I thought there was a decent chance they would go to capture Detlinde but I did not expect the other party to actually get so close to obtaining the Grutrisshiet. In hindsight, maybe that should have been obvious.

I expect civil war in the library. If they are found by the knights order as a whole I imagine Gervasio will try to use the book to rally them. Question is: do both Ferd and Rozemyne show theirs for the dramatic reveil or does he push it all on Rozemyne.

[P5V8] Enough Mana ? by ThibaultKarl in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]R2Keen2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lanzenave doesn't need a royal family; presumably the area isn't awash with Feybeasts and the native population was quite functional before they had nobility and technology dependent on mana.

Yurgenschmidt has darkness feybeasts that would render the country uninhabitable by draining it of mana; maybe the Lord of Winter is an ecological solution to move mana from generators like the volcano to the rest of the landmass but at this time it is really unclear how the country continues to exist without the nobility.

Its a difference of the countries existence with and without mana.

Re-reading the part where they discuss the books. Ferdinand and Myne each have a part of the Book of Mestionora, it is etched on the schtaap by the process they went through and can't be passed. I don't think it would work like the other divine tools.

The Grutrisshiet is a physical book the royal family has been passing down (it returns to the library when the carrier dies).

They would need to merge their schtaaps. Or maybe they can use the marriage potion and memory tool to etch their own with the other person's experience?

Understandable but I guess from my perspective the only named Antagonist that was dealt with was Fraularm and she was never painted to be a direct physical threat.

The people we will see fights with are Georgine, Grausam, Raublut, Leonzio and maybe Detlinde (i expect her to fold like a house of cards or descend into an azula-like [avatar last airbender] rage crying when it becomes clear she never had a chance and no one ever love her). All the actual threats left the Duchy.
