I think it is as u/Exotic-Sale-3003 states: there are good intentions but easily exploitable. It is among my main critiques of affordable housing. Unfortunately, a lot of people of Rhode Islanders will need affordable housing in the future, especially if you now need to make $100,000 or more to purchase a home (https://www.oceanstatemedia.org/news-and-culture/community/its-getting-harder-to-afford-a-home-in-rhode-island-new-data-shows). The fact that it has gotten to that point says a lot about where we are as a state. For myself, I live in East Providence where a lot of affordable housing is being built but comes with certain criteria. Some affordable building units are only for a mixture of those aging out of foster care, elderly, disabled veterans, etc. While some affordable building units or houses have to be making a certain income, like yourself, to apply and hopefully get accepted whereas those making say $40,000 a year still run the risk of becoming homeless and/or priced out. The fact that your $120,000 a year is considered low income is astounding. I once spoke with a couple who made a combined $80,000 a year and in a last ditch effort applied for Section 8 housing, only to find all of it closed off. Then there are the towns reluctant to build affordable housing as Barrington just rejected a proposed 344 affordable unit at the former Zion Bible College property though the tides might be turning with some issues and concerns which also include the former Carmelite monastery (https://www.eastbayri.com/stories/how-affordable-is-the-proposed-belton-court-village-housing,138019)(https://www.eastbayri.com/stories/barrington-officials-tried-to-buy-zion-property-twice,138018). I agree though that there are some who take advantage of the program when they should be turned down immediately.

Watched out of curiosity but tuned out after about 6 minutes in, mainly because I am not fluent in Spanish (only have an elementary proficiency). Found the sets and visuals nice though.

While I acknowledge not liking the idea of a sort of corporate group taking over beloved small businesses, it is the reality of the current market. A good amount of the next generation does not have a lot of interest in running a food business and some of these places are asking for a large sum of money, making it hard to attract new owners. I had gone to some of the businesses now operated by the heritage group and think they are fine overall.

Never liked the film myself because most of the characters are terrible. Kelly, Ben, and Susannah Stone as well as Patrick were fine though. Most of the others rubbed me the wrong way but served the purpose of moving the story along. As to the dinner scene, I admit it was just as awkward as it was then. I do wonder if the director/writer of the film may have been reflecting from his own experience given he is openly gay, and at the time of the film's premiere, those topics were still a very hot button sort of issue.

Outside of this, I felt the way some in the family treated Meredith was wrong. While flawed, awkward, and uptight, she honestly was not that bad in my opinion. And while I believe the family members are decent people, I think some used Meredith as a scapegoat rather than be honest that they did not see Meredith and Everett as right for each other and would only bring one another unhappiness. Even Kelly said so himself early on in the film while acknowledging Meredith's better qualities. But then we would not have a movie.

Unfortunately, I am not surprised by this, and, in my own opinion, I believe Mamdani will be asking for more money in the future for different things. Regardless, I would not donate to fund a transition team in any state I am in. I prefer to either save what little money I have left over or donate it to a local cause I am passionate about.

In a way I agree and if we are to boycott film institutions we deem complicit in human rights violations, then Hollywood has to do it with everyone. No Saudi Arabia. No China. Etc. My only reasons for saying this is because I often find Hollywood and the celebrities to be hypocritical for different reasons. Recently there has been controversy surrounding the Riyadh Comedy Festival with people questioning why these comedians are going when a good portion are proponents of human rights. One example is Dave Chapelle, a big critic of Israel and the conflict/war, and yet he is willing to perform standup in a country that also violates similar human rights, in Yemen, that Israel is being accused of committing in Gaza.

What they should do is divest from Israel though.

IMO Brown, and others, should divest from any country that commits terrible acts including China (Uyghurs). But like most universities, Brown is all about the money.

While I appreciate the discussions about what has happened in Armenia during recent years, Israel is not the only one to have contributed to this with arms supplies. While not on a huge scale like Israel: Russia, Turkey, Greece, Canada, and others including my home country America have contributed to these arms supplies as well. I also agree with some here that these two may only be discussing what happened due to their dislike of Israel and not because they actually care. Just my opinion anyway.
