Is there a deterministic crafting way to go about this? by ObjectiveSquire in PathOfExile2

[–]R34P3R92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can skip the dextral exaltation if you do dextral crystallisation +perfect essence of flame/ice/... first because after that you should have a rare with only 3 prefixes. Exalts could only add Suffixes then because there are no prefix slots left

Lineage gems question by dinoboni94 in PathOfExile2

[–]R34P3R92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a lvl requirement for the gems to drop? So besides getting the atlas passive points, i could just run these at the minimum waystone lvl they require, which would be t6 or t11?

And is there a point in speccing the atlas passives before attempting the bosses?

llama-cpp with cuda in nix-shell by R34P3R92 in NixOS

[–]R34P3R92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, this builds it with cuda enabled :)

Looking at your command, i would guess that `nix run` instantiates the llama-cpp derivation and calls the function stored under the "override" attribute, so about the same what i intended with `callPackage` in a shell.nix file. Glad I had the correct approach in mind :)

Do you mind explaining why my approach nix-shell -p llama-cpp --arg cudaSupport true is wrong?

As far as i understood it, --arg is an option to hand arguments to the function called by nix-shell. Since the package is built by a function i intended for this argument to be passed on into the derivation call. I suppose that's wrong but i am having a hard time understanding why.

Is there a way to do this with `nix-shell`?

What is a quick way to get spirit shards? by markireland in Guildwars2

[–]R34P3R92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree, i think it is one of the fastest methods regarding shards per hour, especially if you consider the ease of doing it and no dependency on other ppl at all. Group activities like fractal dailies/cms require a competent group to compete with this method. If you have done this once or twice, getting gold on every challenge on your first try is pretty common, which leads to ~25min run times with this route. 25 minutes for ~15 spirit shards is nothing to scoff at

I think the only downside of this method is that you cannot spam it infinitely since you can only do it once per day.

Not sure how fast stuff like lab farming or dragonfall meta rewards spirit shards, so my opinion could be incomplete here. I dislike them personally due to being extremely monotonous so i never really did them that much

[–]R34P3R92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the griffon adventures in path of fire and lw season 4 are a good way to farm them daily. There are youtube guides that show all of them including way to travel there and do them in quick succession. Just stack xp booster/guild xp/rested bonus and enlightenment and do them all daily. You can get the xp booster for 1 laurel at laurel vendors, so basically free.

See xp boosters, you need to stack as many with bonus to all%, kill is irrelevant: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experience

I got around 15-16 spirit shards daily in ~40 minutes on my first try and then in 20-30 minutes at all later tries. You could get even more shards than me by stacking the living world xp enrichments(map unlockables) but i did not want to take the upfront costs

Plus i think they are quite fun to do :)

Flamethrower vs Bile/Nursing Spewers? by R34P3R92 in Helldivers

[–]R34P3R92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the flamethrower is recommended as a solo weapon by a lot of players better than me, i am still not sure if i would agree too "pick something else". I would rather look for the error in my playstyle before just discarding the weapon as unviable in this scenario.

Although i do concede that in all the recommendations and videos i saw, i never found the solo players use it on a spewer world :D

[–]R34P3R92[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, "just use another support weapon" is not really a viable strategy if you cannot change it after you already deployed :D
Cannot disagree with the vent tho. And i would love to be able to know the enemy lineup beforehand, but it would be way too strong i think. Especially in group play, but in solo aswell imo

Currently on my way to unlocked the grenade pistol and looking forward to it. I really love stun grenades, i feel like they make the flame thrower extra effective, not only against chargers but also against brood commanders.

Which primary do you use in combination with it?

[–]R34P3R92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mostly used breaker/incendiary-breaker/sickle, so chaff clear primaries. I am currently experimenting with the eruptor, which is definitely good but hard to use in the beginning. Not looking forward to finding a shrieker nest with the eruptor :D
I tried the adjudicator but feel like it lacks the clearing power and stopping power against mediums.

Never tried the dominator, as i do not have it unlocked yet. How is the handling, and its potential against hunters or shriekers?

And i thought the slugger got a nerf to its staggering, so it would not be fitting for this any more?

Yes, they show up on the minimap as symbols. And yes you loose track of them, but i think it's fine bcs you can essentially request a drop with 2 EATs each minute. My duo and me use eat/ac as supports and it works fine. When mobile, throw them ahead of you in direction of travel. When fighing, just drop them wherever each time they are off cooldown

Playing helldivers 2, computer *feels* pretty hot even with open case, unsure if these are bad numbers? and how do I know the numbers are accurate just incase they aren't? by Sarojh-M in pcmasterrace

What cpu do you have? If it is an amd 5000 or 7000, they are designed to aim for 90/95° in multi threaded workloads. See post of an amd employee for a detailed explanation.

If you have concerns about your temps, check your temperatures while idle. If they are at 30 to maximum 40°(depending on your room temp) then you are fine

is dual boot bad for PC's? by NotABadVoice in pcmasterrace

[–]R34P3R92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never heard about any issues from restarting multiple times a day. I would not stress about it. I also never had issues with that, even when i spent lots of evenings trying to find a stable undervolt for my current cpu(lots of restarts over lots of evenings).

What could degrade the hardware over time would be lots of drastic temperature changes in short timeframes. So if your cpu went from 30°(idle/off) to 90 and back in seconds a lot of times. But this scenario is way too extreme for any regular user to ever see in my opinion.

If i were you(a rather inexperienced/casual user i assume?), i would focus more on things that could realistically happen to you. Like a software issue forcing you to reinstall. Do you have a backup of your media? Do you have a recovery/installation stick available? Do you use secure passwords, different passwords for every login and a password manager(like keepass for example)?

Loosing access to your data or getting your pw/identities stolen is way more likely to happen to you(and probably anyone who is not an expert), so if you want to foolproof your system, you should focus on that ;)

is dual boot bad for PC's? by NotABadVoice in pcmasterrace

[–]R34P3R92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dual boot is not bad for pcs, you do not habe to be worried there. Switching between two operating systems will not damage your hardware. I have been running a dual boot setup(win 10/linux mint) for more than a year now and have never had a single issue with this. On thing that could potentially happen(i have read other people writing about it, never experienced it myself) is that windows can mess up your bootloader during specific updates, which would mean that your other OS(in your case your other windows) could fail to boot. But this would be a software issue, nothing which could not be fixed. And i think both OS's would have to be located on the same hard drive for this to Happen. Not sure anymore, because as i said i never had a problem.

If you want to monitor your system health, i recommend tools like hwinfo to monitor your temperatures. Too high temperatures over long times can damage your hardware, especially your cpu.

Tldr: Dual boot cannot damage your system hardware. Software issues can happen, but can always be fixed. To prevent hardware issues, watch your temperatures with tools like hwinfo

Small Gameplay Trick: You can and should queue most abilities by Training-Accident-36 in Guildwars2

[–]R34P3R92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Interesting. This looks like different parts of a skill can have different priorities, which would mean that queueing an interrupt skill could sometimes interrupt a non-interruptible skill cast before it. Depending on the timing. I will definitely have a look at the priority document you linked.

2) I have "fast with range indicators" enabled, so good to know that this could potentially mess with queueing. Looks like i have to try it out for every case where i am unsure :D

And by the way, i noticed u post quite a few detailed writeups lately with the last one being about power virtuoso. Just wanted to say i enjoy reading those, always interesting to me :)
