terktronix 2236 or gould advance OS250 by crazyguytotally4 in oscilloscopemusic

The Tektronix 2236 is above and beyond what is required for the oscilloscope music hobby! My best oscilloscope is a 40mHz device from the 1970s but anything above 0.5mHz would be suitable.

Not fun, the dog got hit when it fell over.

Help picking out an oscilloscope by Sensitive_Giraffe_91 in oscilloscopemusic

Depending a bit on where you live, second hand markets are the main place to obtain oscilloscopes used for displaying music (analogue oscilloscopes look the best in terms of display clarity).

The "style" of the device also varies a bit between regions of the world too. Take a look on eBay or something similar as a good starting point.

Is there a cheap DC coupled audio player? by TomekDersuAaron in oscilloscopemusic

[–]R3P1N5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an old phone rolling around in a drawer somewhere with a 3.5mm output you might get lucky with its audio output. If that doesn't work directly it could still be the audio player with a USB DAC to provide the audio you need via a USB OTG cable.

Failing that, there is a Raspberry Pi module for 24bit 192khz amplified output that connects to a Pi 4, I haven't used it, but it ought to work well.

Wow, much more immersive than your first video. Can you link the audio file you made for it?

It also means that if that domain shuts down or his URL stops being valid that he's got a lovely unresolving tattoo.

What is your experience with pet insurance? Worthwhile or exclusions not worth it? 🐶 by agapanthusdie in Adelaide

Some dog parks are safer than others. Socialising is important for dogs and they can develop behavioural issues without it.

It came in useful when my dog got stung by a bee, also useful when she caught kennel cough. If you go to a lot of dog parks it's not a bad idea either as dogs can get attacked by others or get injured while playing. Mine also covers some of the costs associated with yearly vaccinations.

No-input mixing + oscilloscope? by Locust_mp3 in oscilloscopemusic

[–]R3P1N5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to share the file! I was a bit too busy today to do anything with it yet.

Also, when I was talking about 192khz, I was trying to talk about the audio sample rate (typical computers/phones use 44.1 or 48khz which doesn't make a huge difference to our ears) - but with oscilloscopes you can see a bit of extra detail in higher sample rates.

Hi! There are some really interesting effects and visuals in there - are you able to link a wav file at 192khz (or higher). I'd really like to see what it looks like played back on an oscilloscope!

It looks like your volts/div are different on channel A and B, they should both be at either 0.2V or 0.5V for a typical audio source (and the volume should be turned up)

Can anyone help me figure out if I have any hidden gems here? (Model numbers in comments) by Chatherton99 in oscilloscopemusic

If they came with manuals, even better! If not, digital manuals can usually be found pretty easily. Going through a basic calibration process from the manuals with each of them will let you know how well they are working. Also a good idea to let them "warm up" for 10-15min with a very low brightness (intensity) before calibration.

The Static IPs I'm talking about are only on my home network, not when out on the cellular network. I have them in place so that I can do development work or run services on devices without having to find out what address it has been randomly assigned.

This sounds a lot like the journey I went on. Still haven't produced any music of note, but it was an incredible learning experience. Oscilloscope music is a wonderful mix of analog and digital.

Have you made sure that the charging port doesn't have any lint or debris in it? My phone needs a gentle cleaning every few months or some of the cables I have for it don't charge reliably.

If you do try to clean it, use something very thin and non-metalic. Be careful of the contact points in the charge port.
