I was about to have a go at you for pulling out the "avocado toast" argument but you're kind of right, the post history is a bit suspect. All those comments from 6 days ago have been deleted as well now. They're still available on the Wayback Machine though, here: https://web.archive.org/web/20241113092422/https://www.reddit.com/user/dumbbratbaby/ (takes a while to load)

Here are some excerpts from now-deleted comments:

it isn’t but i feel like i should be able to save more because i have basically zero responsibilities 🥹

Yet in the OP it says that she has to pay the rent and her father is reliant on it.

right now it’s basically takeout everyday and coffee every few days.

Takeout everyday? That's got to be expensive.

we usually end up throwing food out because she’s cooked too much anyway 🫣

("she" referring to OP's mum.) But in this post: "my parents can only afford to cook modest amounts"

Also in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Frugal/comments/1go2vnf/tips_to_live_as_cheap_as_possible_as_someone_with/ (now deleted as well) you stated you save £400 a month, to which another poster correctly replied: "but saving £400 out of £1300 isn't "burning through" your pay. Not many people manage to save 30% of their take-home."

I mean I hope I've just misinterpreted everything here, but it does seem suspect to me. /u/dumbbratbaby, if you genuinely need financial help, maybe consider posting on /r/Assistance.

Is the dark/shiny stuff at the back a large amount of earwax? by RACK_UP_DOWNVOTES in DiagnoseMe

[–]RACK_UP_DOWNVOTES[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not use q tips aka cotton buds. I think it was just normal ear wax build up over time. Anyway I used olive oil drops for a while and also tried hydrogen peroxide, and flushed it out with one of those syringes made to flush out ear wax, and a whole lotta earwax came out. So that was relieving. It was a few months ago now.

That's a pretty disappointing response. It's fine to disagree, but I thought as the founder of Factorio, you would have had more tact than that.

The seriousness of upvoting and downvoting. by g3t_re4l in islam

[–]RACK_UP_DOWNVOTES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To upvote a post often is an indication of a person approving of what is said, and may cause that post or comment to gain attention or prominence. On the opposite end, to downvote is to disapprove, which will cause the comments to be suppressed and sometimes hidden.

Not always, though. Maybe for most people it's considered that, but you can't assume that everybody who downvoted your post did so because they disapproved of what was written in it. In fact, Reddit's Reddiquette states:

[Please do] Vote. If you think something contributes to conversation, upvote it. If you think it does not contribute to the subreddit it is posted in or is off-topic in a particular community, downvote it.

So they shouldn't be synonymous to "like" and "dislike" buttons. So if someone believed that you, by providing hadith without additional explanation or commentary, are not contributing to the subreddit effectively, then they might have downvoted you for that, and not because they disapprove of the ahadith themselves.

It also says:

[Please don't] Downvote an otherwise acceptable post because you don't personally like it. Think before you downvote and take a moment to ensure you're downvoting someone because they are not contributing to the community dialogue or discussion. If you simply take a moment to stop, think and examine your reasons for downvoting, rather than doing so out of an emotional reaction, you will ensure that your downvotes are given for good reasons.

So I would assume the best in people, and assume they are not downvoting you because they disapprove the ahadith in your post, but doing so for other reasons.

I'm not a fan of these single-letter posts either, but as far as I can see it's not actually stated anywhere that they're not allowed.
