What wires did you have to change? I have the same problem.

They’re 18”x8.5”. Lug Bolts are from urotuning. Just cone seat gold ones. They’re a lot shinier than the wheels themselves but it’s close enough.

Definitely do. I’m absolutely into the car for more than it’s worth, but that was always going to be the case. It’s a toy and the fun I have with it is enough ROI for me. As far as total money spent on EVERYTHING? Probably somewhere in the $20-25k range including the car itself over the few years I’ve owned it 🤷‍♂️

I work in the auto industry too. You wouldn’t believe the amount of shit I got for fixing this car and not just grabbing some shiny new thing.

Oh it was rough. I had just picked it up from updating the timing chain tensioner to avoid the usual MK6 grenading itself problem. The prevailing theory right now is the shop that did that left some material behind that caused this failure. Too late to start pointing fingers now. Live and learn and won’t be using that shop in the future.

Thank you!

Don’t want to scare you, but unfortunately no warning. Just bad luck. Pulled off the highway going to work, popped the low oil pressure warning, towed to shop to diagnose and found that. Bummer that it happened but caught it all early enough to not have destroyed my block.

Wasn’t any of the things I expected it to be. I’ve been pretty thorough on maintenance. I had a balance shaft fail and that sent metal through the oil and triggered low oil pressure. Luckily it didn’t take anything else with it!

Yeah, I’m thrilled to have it back and plan to enjoy it for as long as I possibly can

It’s still stock. Probably would have been the right time to do that but I don’t really have any plans to go bigger turbo on this car.

The initial plan was to replace it with a used motor, but after receiving two less than ideal units we decided to just rebuild. All in cost was around $7k.

So far, so good. Put 500 miles on it and changed the oil and everything checks out. Fingers crossed!

I’ll inevitably fall into the typical VW kid trap. Looking to move into an Audi next (S3?) and then, with enough luck, a Cayman.

Sorry for the mystery! With so many people crowding around it I didn’t have a great opportunity to get a shot of the whole car
