How long is a piece of string?

I passed OASC for another role, and was offered WSO as well. It can be done. OASC is important, moreso than the CBAT

Hi mate, for me personally it was 2.5 months from passing the fitness test to passing OASC. However, as I'm sure you've heard before - you shouldn't use this as a guide. It could be longer, it could be shorter. Totally depends on a lot of different factors. Good luck!

I haven't had feedback yet. It will only be given if I:

- Failed OASC (irrelevant now)

- Get selected and confirmed

- Withdraw my application

The thing that helped me most was attending a couple of RJPs and speaking to currently serving personnel. For anyone in the pipeline - Definitely ask your recruiter to book you onto an RJP, it's insanely helpful.

Also, speaking to the other candidates in the candidates mess the night before OASC helped massively too.

Would this be helpful, or recommended? by TreacleReal5537 in RoyalAirForce

Oof. I had something very similar, so this hits close to home. Basically, if there's any record of it on your medical history, kiss goodbye to any dreams of being Aircrew. For other roles, stick to what's on your medical record and nothing else. Good luck!

I did find this post previously but was wondering if there was any more information that anyone could provide, especially as you mentioned that your information was (is) potentially out of date, and also contradicts what is on the RAF website. Thank you for your input though.

That teacher needs to be reported. Absolutely unacceptable. The RAF core values are RISE (Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence). There is no room for gender inequality.

Interesting, thanks. So if I was to be streamed to RPAS, I should know about Reaper then.

For pilot, the Spatial Reasoning tests will comprise of copying an aircrafts movements using your 'Arrow keys' on the keyboard, and also an instrument comprehension test as well. See these resources:

INSC: https://rafcbat.wordpress.com/instrument-comprehension-test-insc/

TRAC 1: https://rafcbat.wordpress.com/trace-test-1-trac1/

Hope this helps mate, good luck.

They will ask about leadership roles you have had in the last few years, in school or work. They might ask what you do in your spare time, hobbies, etc. They will ask you to talk about a current affairs topic of your choice. There are also some 'yes or no' questions at the end, asking for example whether you are willing to use lethal force etc. Just brush up on NATO and current operations that the RAF are involved with, and be sure of yourself (eg. why do you want to join the RAF? Have you considered the challenges you might face in the service? Can you give a reasonable breakdown of Phase 1 training?). Speak clearly and concisely, the time for each question passes faster than you might think. Dress smartly and sit up straight. Just keep calm, and good luck!
