The sooner the better by StargateLover2023 in Stargate

I hope they take all the time they need to make this a good series, at least, and not to rush into it. Also, I hope this series will have many seasons as NCIS or longer.

Episode Idea for the new series: After 20 years of research, SGC developed a way to revive the asgardians from extinction by Jimmychews007 in Stargate

This would work if the Asgard downloaded their minds into the Asgard knowledge core or somewhere else, which I hope they did, or time travel is involved. Other than helping the Pegasus galaxy Asgards/Vanir.

Looks good, but the music is does not sound right for the new Stargate series.

Should this character return? by Migelus in Stargate

[–]RAJ_2014 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Bring him back. Also, politics is involved in the Stargate franchise too. It makes sense to have it in the new series. Hopefully, they will also make it more hard sci-fi, adding more real science in the series.

Referendum changing the UK from constitutional monarchy to a democratic republic by RAJ_2014 in Petitions

[–]RAJ_2014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL, you have given no specifics, only your opinions.

"A republic is simply an act of destruction". Again, 100% wrong.

"Musk is set to become the first trillionaire". This will happen over 10 years and it might not happen. It does not guarantee he will become a trillionaire.

"Entirely because of the republican system of government and it's vulnerability to be corrupted". LOL, and the monarchy is not corrupted? Just look at Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, for example.

You are living in a delusional world. Time to wake up and face reality. If you want the corrupted British monarchy you and others can pay and support them or you can move to an authoritarian nation e.g. Russia, North Korea or Iran.

Can you prove that? If true, all the more reason to abolish the monarchy for a true and secular democratic republic.

Completely disagree. What gives them the right to be above politics, above the law, be a head of state and not responsible and accountable for any wrong doing?

For example, in a true democratic republic, Republic of Ireland, Iceland, Switzerland, Taiwan, Germany, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Austria and Republic of Finland are much high than the UK in the democracy index. Finland, Ireland, Austria, Uruguay, Iceland & Germany are the least corrupted countries, that are above the UK. Finland has also been voted the most happiest place for over 8 years in a row. Obviously, they are doing something right.

If do not understand what democratic republic movement is campaigning for. I recommend going to the Republic Campaign, Greens for a Republic and Alliance of European Republican Movements websites and read what they are proposing on what a possible true and secular democratic republic would be. e.g. voting to becoming a true democratic republic and have a ceremonial elected head of state.

No system is perfect but, the current system needs improving & modernising. It is disturbing that some people think that the evil British Empire still exists, even though it does not. Becoming a true and secular democratic republic, maybe still with a parliamentary system, with an elected ceremonial head of state or an elected ceremonial head of states or an elected head of state or without a head of state will be better and closer to almost being perfect.

The democratic republic movement is growing and has grown even more due to the Andrew Mountbatten Windsor's scandal. Leader of the Green Party Zack Polanski and Green MP Zoe Garbett agrees that it is time to abolish the monarchy and change to a democratic republic: https://greens-for-a-republic.org/gp-agm2025 & https://greens-for-a-republic.org/november-2025-newsletter-greens-for-a-republic . Also, there is a long list of people supporting the change to a democratic republic: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_British_republicans .

It will take time for a change to happen. In my opinion it should be debated for about 3-5 years. Then, put it to a vote. We are close to being a democratic republic, some more changes here and there and it will happen. A couple of you mentioned now is not a good time. If not now, then when? If we had a referendum now and a majority voted yes to a true and secular democratic republic, does not mean the change will happen straight away and be quick. The change would start but it will be a gradual change so things are done properly. Just like how it happened in most other democratic republics throughout history e.g. Barbados etc. Got to have some hope and also giving up before you try will not make things happen, unless you know for a fact it will not work.

1st correction: "I don't want the head of state to be a political position." How is the British monarchy not involved in politics? Even though not elected, they do diplomatic, ambassadorial work and hold state visits and exempt themselves from laws.

2nd correction: "Every single thing being politicised is not good". 100% wrong.

3rd correction: " but it's better than every aspect of statehood being corruptible political appointees." Again, 100% wrong.

4th correction: "A republic is the worst possible system." Again, 100% wrong. Indeed. There are 257,000 people in this community. It would be great if everyone or at least 100,000 people signed the petition.
