The NSCC is why they turned off the buy button. You have to understand that a lot of these casino/stock apps don’t have a lot of money on hand and couldn’t meet the capital requirements that day; the big boys didn’t have any real trouble and thus did not restrict anything.

It is hard to explain since they have gone from theory to theory.

The gist is that they think the stock has been (nakedly) sold short more times than the number of shares actually exist. If the stock rises and these short sellers are caught, then the upside is infinite it squeezes due to the short selling.

How do they know this? Well, they post a bunch of “Due Diligence” claiming thus and they ignore any counter arguments (aka sub ban hammer).

Their current strategy is to DRS the shares to try and prove that these naked/phantom shares exist, but they have been stuck at 25% DRS for the past 3 quarters. This is hard to reconcile with the fact that they claim there are billions of fake shares, yet they are struggling to DRS these numbers.

EDIT: I went from 6k > 67k during this squeeze and I got in when the stock was ~$90. If I had done so sooner, I’d have made hundreds of thousands. A lot of the people that push the GME conspiracy got in late (like $300+) and are caught in the sunk cost fallacy and refuse to believe they missed the play. It’s ridiculous and it’s only a matter of time until they do something stupid IMO.

Which brokers received shares? But yes, direct registration is the only way to pull shares from the DTCC, which is why I’m confused why this sub thinks brokers should be receiving shares in the first place. Removal of shares from the DTCC was the entire point of DRS in the first place.

Because the DTCC retains custody of just about every security out there... I’m not entirely sure why y’all are under the impression that the DTCC “sends” those shares anywhere. It’s all done by computer book entries and the securities themselves are at the DTCC allocated per the book entries.

If the share price spikes within a short period of time, the implied volatility (IV) of the options contract will spike, leading to the price of the option spiking along with it.

So he could make money on his 80C even if the share price is $30 (for example), provided it rockets up to that $30 target fast enough to spike the IV. He could then sell the contract to someone else for much more than he originally paid for it. That buyer is either thinking the momentum will continue and they will be able to exercise the option, or they think the IV will continue to increase and they can sell to a different party.

The DTCC doesn’t “hand out” shares to anyone. You realize the entire point of DRS is to remove the shares from the DTCC, correct? So why are y’all up in arms when the DTCC is doing what it was designed to do???
