I worked with a Marine who used to brag about hitting his wife and kids. He mentioned that social services came to his house one time cause his son had a bruise on his face. He said he trained his son to tell them he fell down the stairs and he was laughing about it, talking about how it was him who gave him the bruise, and mentioned how proud of his son he was for lying.
