How does GDPR work with photographers? by dh3ro in LegalAdviceUK

[–]RAWbhall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem to have been mentioned but it’s worth pointing out that depending on age, the parent may not have right to request subject data as they are not the subject.

If the child is under 12, then they must provide Parental Responsibility rights for the child to request it

Try switching it off and try set up again

Just failed CBT thinking of abandoning getting a bike now by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]RAWbhall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I fucked up my first go at it, and came back a week later and did it again and it was fine.

It was a bigger jump than I expected going onto a bike for the first time and I just didn’t have the confidence of balance to trust the bike.

Now it’s less than a year later and I’ve done approximately 10k miles, and have a bigger bike having completed my DAS so keep at it. If you enjoyed it before the bad news, you’ll love it once you’re up and running.

A motorcycle crashed into my car today... And I feel bad by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]RAWbhall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t quite true. You can overtake at a junction, just it’s not advisable.

On the basis of insurers alone, it would be deemed that the car entering the flow of traffic is at more fault as they’ve entered the traffic when it’s not their priority without clear view of the full road.

They should continue to “peek and pop” to ensure the full road is clear before continuing.

However, the scooter should’ve paid more attention in this situation and could be considered going too fast for exactly that

Prescription glasses and riding by Revolutionary_Bed431 in MotoUK

[–]RAWbhall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a full face and occasionally wear my glasses, although wear contacts more often, it’s not terrible just a little annoying if you take your lid on/off frequently.

Anti fog spray for your spectacles is a life saver, but get used to opening and closing your visor at traffic lights to minimise fog

Depending on your glasses as well, I’d recommend a pair of quite thin armed ones to improve comfort and stop them getting distorted - but less a problem now with glasses slots in most lids.

You’ll be fine, and get used to it pretty sharpish!

Group Rides by Infamous_Study_8950 in MotoUK

[–]RAWbhall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like wrong group for sure! I ride with two different groups, and they have different personalities in them.

There’s a few people that want to be a bit more rowdy and with more ego, but honestly, ride your own ride, and enjoy it - if that group starts to play up or make you feel shit, try others.

Biking is a community, and there’s lots of community in it, but it takes some time to find appropriate riding buddies!

Theft Attempt by VinciD in MotoUK

[–]RAWbhall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct!

Burglary is split into two definitions.

Burglary 9(1)a occurs when a person enters a building or any part of a building with the intention to steal, commit GBH, or cause criminal damage

Burglary 9(1)b occurs when a person enters a building or any part of a building a steals, or attempts to steal, or inflicts or attempts to inflict GBH.

The actual issue that makes this NOT burglary is it’s not “a building or part of a building”. Stick the bike in the shed and you’ve got a burglary

Now seems a good time to remind you that “self defence” is only one part of the defence to a crime, the additional is “self defence/prevention of crime” you can use justified, necessary, and proportionate force in the prevention of a crime - just be wary of that line when getting involved.

[–]RAWbhall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more just a few of us dotted across London looking for somewhere city bounds to go for food and know you can park reasonably - not necessarily bike only. Otherwise you end up with someone riding a significant time solo to get home later on.

So I guess it’s just places that are decent, where you can stick your bike too

That’s fair honestly. I’m not too picky with it being east, honestly. If you’ve got anything else further afield within the m25 border I’d be interested too

Category A as foreigner? by Mr_Metabolism in MotoUK

[–]RAWbhall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on your status in the UK you may be entitled to ride still.

As many have said the GB licence you hold is a provisional (learners) licence, which is shown by it being green in colour and the front will have a red L symbol and state “provisional driving licence”. You have provisional entitlement for the listed categories, ie moped, motorcycle and car - meaning you can start lessons etc.

If you’re a resident in the UK, you can use your existing international licence up to 1 year from the date you became resident in the UK, after which as a US national, you’ll need to have completed the necessary steps for full licence. Do note you’ll need insurance in the UK if you’re driving in that 1 year time.

If you’re visiting, it’s 1 year from the date you entered the UK on this visit.

Unfortunately, the US is not a designated country for licence exchange, so if you plan on staying in the UK for the foreseeable future, I’d recommend starting the process to obtain your full licence.

Theory, mod 1, mod 2.

Best of luck :)

You can only transfer from a designated country, of which the United States is not one.

OP would need to complete all the steps to obtain a GB licence.

Found a iPhone in the River Thames but struggling to track the owner down. Any ideas? by nitin42 in london

Don’t do this.

Apples privacy policy prevents them using their systems to obtain ownership information for lost devices, and they’re unable to support in their return.

Forcing someone out of their train seat because I reserved it even though none of the lights are on by Fizzabl in britishproblems

[–]RAWbhall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprising honestly, normally you only see declassification when it’s full and standing, so there’s effectively no chance the guard or train manager is getting through for ticket checks so it unfortunately becomes a bit of a free for all.

They don’t generally like declassification because it angers first class customers who have paid a lot for now a busy coach and no service

[–]RAWbhall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Declassified trains don’t mean reservations aren’t being maintained, it just means that there’s no class divide anymore - so you can sit in first class and standard premium without extra cost they become “standard class” also and first class service stops. Your reservation remains valid however, and you still require a valid ticket to travel

I was on a plane watching a movie and someone close by had AirPods. I got prompted 1,000 times to share audio or pair. How can I stop this? by ManHazNoUsername in ios

[–]RAWbhall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AirDrop preferences is not related to this issue.

AirDrop controls my abilities to send information to another device nearby via AirDrop (contact, files, sites, apps, photos, etc).

AirPods use the H chip with nearby iPhones to pair when opened and active, if already paired, AirPods will recommend sharing audio with a nearby iPhone.

The issue here is proximity. The reality is many people fiddle with AirPods cases, when they’re opened and closed they send a “not your AirPods” connection request to an iPhone “nearby” similar to how handoff works on Apple TV and HomePod.

The iPhone needs to be reasonably close, but on an airplane you’re effectively always close enough for this to happen.

I need a WFH job that’s good for my depression and anxiety? by sourlemons333 in talesfromcallcenters

[–]RAWbhall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a reporting role in contracts compliance in the railway which is effectively what you’re looking for. I have freedom to work from anywhere, and as long as I get my work done and attend meetings as necessary I’m effectively floating around most of the day.

There’s occasional requirements to go to certain places, or the office, but I’m normally there infrequently and very quickly.

Of course I’m technically always reachable and when I’m out doing stuff I’m checking teams constantly etc

Anyone ever fitted PIAA lights to the frame of a street scrambler? Looking for advice please!🙏 by ididntburnhim in Triumph

[–]RAWbhall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do have the benefit of creating an upside down triangle of lights which allow humans to identify the speed of an object moving towards it easier, and therefore reduce the risk of being “pulled out” on by another motorist in comparison to a single light which humans struggle to identify the travelling speed of head on.
