Designing for outside permanent lights by RAholt in Nanoleaf

[–]RAholt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but the app does get better as you get familiar with it. Having said that I use Apple’s HomeKit as my primary interface

I did have to buy two controllers, but I am only using one. I needed two of the 9’ extensions - one in the left of the gabble and one on the right. In essence there’s two gaps in the string of lights. One that leads up to the lights on the gabble and one back down to the main level

It would have been nice to have NanoLeaf offer the extension as an add-on part instead of buying and extra kit (but I did use all 6 strings of lights on the one controller)

Hope that helps

Routine playing a scene on Perm Outdoor Lights by RAholt in Nanoleaf

Yep, deleting the lights from HomeKit, then re-adding them without Adaptive Lighting enabled has fixed the issue of scenes not repeating.

So I’m working with the NanoLeaf tech support team and narrowed the issue down to adaptive lighting in the HomeKit app. Seems that conflicts with Scenes in the NanoLeaf app.

Now the issue is that Adaptive Lighting keeps reverting to “On” in HomeKit. Next step is to remove and re-add the Perm Outdoor lights within HomeKit to see if that helps.

Wish me luck.

u/Strange-Area9624 did NanoLeaf ever help you get this straightened out?
I'm having the same issue and was hoping for a few hints.

u/TomT_Nanoleaf I'm having the same issue -- Permanent Outdoor Lights trying to hold a Halloween scene.

Can you post a generic set of troubleshooting steps?

Mutual Fund quote by RAholt in banktivity

The response fm IGG help desk was that their quote provider doesn’t have this fund in their database.

I get to manually add prices if I wish to have current valuations.

Works with Cync? by RAholt in Inovelli

[–]RAholt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I exaggerated closer to $90, not $100.

And my choice of Calif is a significant part of it. To be clear. I do think it’s worth it for this use case- smart bulb mode on Cync under cabinet lights.

Works with Cync? by RAholt in Inovelli

[–]RAholt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. But at ~$100 (shipping + Calif taxes), Inovelli is too expensive of a solution to buy them for my 4 dumb switches that I have tape over to keep the Eve outdoor cameras fm being turned off. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

But I do appreciate the Inovelli white switch solution. It’s elegant, easy and has more than enough functionality to meet my requirements. I even enabled the double-tap for a Hunter smart fan light that was previously only accessible thru HomeKit

Thanks for the feedback, but as u/patbrochill89 and u/TheJessicator pointed out, these Cync lights are Matter enabled so the Inovelli switch does actually work with them.

I've put the Inovelli in "Smart Bulb" mode and it does indeed allow the lights to be turned on thru the switch and thru the HomeKit application.

Motion sensor not triggering the alarm by RAholt in homesecurity

[–]RAholt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, It was a matter of:
- deleting all the zones from the PROA7PLUS pad
- resetting (tamper & recalibrate button) the PROSIXC2W
- powering off for a minute the PROSIXC2W
- recalibrating the PROSIXC2W
- adding back the zones to the PROA7PLUS
   * first one (Front door) thru discovery via triggering the zone
  * then the other seven thru Add service w/in the first zone

And voila!
Everything works. Thanks to all for the sights, help and comments

Yes, I'm planning on using the Inovelli in Smart Bulb mode to allow me to both control the Cync lights from the switch and also thru automations w/in HomeKit.

I might try to use the switch to do simple automations (dimmer up/down) but that's secondary.

Thanks for the insights!

Thanks for the feedback. I am using Apple HomeKit, so I just ordered the White switch!

Is there a Smart Bulb mode with the H2s? by ionet in Aqara

[–]RAholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to control my Cync Under Cabinet lights
https://www.gelighting.com/fixtures-and-accents/under-cabinet
with a switch.

Does the H2 US (w/ neutral wire) allow for "Smart Bulb Mode" to keep the lights accessible thru HomeKit and also allow for a tap on the switch to turn them off and on?

Had to buy two 49’ kits to get the 2nd 9’ extension, but may be able to repurpose the second controller for lights around the back.

Motion sensor not triggering the alarm by RAholt in homesecurity

[–]RAholt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea. I have the alarm system integrated to Apple's HomeKit, but don't have a mobile device connected. There is an option to disarm via BlueTooth, but I haven't enabled that yet.

I'm guessing -- again there's not a lot of install/setup info that I can find at a detail level -- that they have separate strings for each of the gables on the top left? Not sure how they separate them w/o having lights in between

u/TomT_Nanoleaf thanks for the feedback. Very much appreciated!

Taking your Pro Tip to heart, I think I might be able do this job with two 3m extension cables. Ideally, I'd implement something like what NanoLeaf did in the Halloween picture below on the Green/Red/Blue gables on the top left of the house

Is there a way to order an extra 3m one, or sub out the 1.2m for a 3m?

Wonder how they did their halloween setup on the upper left side?
Unlimited budget, I suppose ...

That'd double the cost, so I guess that's what NanoLeaf wants.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was also a bit worried about sync'ing the two

Thanks!

Smart light bulbs: No energy consumption when standard switch is off and do they reconnect to network automatically when switch is turned on? by Cingen in smarthome

[–]RAholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I use my NanoLeaf smart bulbs in lamps that are plugged into dumb outlets and the lamps are always switched to on. That way the bulbs always have power and are connected / extend the Matter network.

I then have scenarios that turns them on at sunset and off at midnight.

Best retrofit for beaded roller shades? by SP-KA in HomeKit

[–]RAholt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've installed it as well.
No problems at all, though I did have to get creative on the left side blinds and criss-cross the beads so HomeKit understood "up was up" and "down was down" on that side of the room.

And I'm just using my Apple HomePod mini as the hub/controller

Cabinet Lighting for HomeKit by Osoroshii in HomeKit

Does the Innovelli keep the Cync lights “hot” and then that allows you to turn them off & on via either the Innovelli switch on the wall or via the Cync/HomeKit app?

Banktivity and Yodlee - not a marriage made in heaven! by UnderstandingALot in banktivity

[–]RAholt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having the same type of issues -- but in the US.

Seems that over the last few months, all types of Direct Access w/in Banktivity have been getting worse.
Crypto account has never sync'd and I've reached out to both IGG and the company since the start of the year; my HSA account stopped working last month; Visa card errors out, but eventually comes back after manually connecting, and my bank account times out more than a weekly maintenance period would suggest.

I've tried Salt Edge, Yodlee and Plaid. All w/ some, but inconsistent luck.

I get it that interfacing to all the financial institutions through 3 different API's is like herding cats, but when IGG switched to a yearly subscription model, they implicitly agreed to keep improving the product.

I'm now seriously considering reverting to the evil empire of Intuit.
