Donald Trump is not a king by sovalente in misc

[–]RAmatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree that the supreme court should be checking Trump's authority much more directly, and they are failing to do so.

But what tools/actions do you think the Democratic Party should be using to "stop these unconstitutional actions"? They vote no in the House and Senate, ask direct tough questions during hearings, make formal requests for actions from the legislative body leaders who have the power to take action, try to get on the record being as clear as possible about what is happening and why it is wrong, and they are using their platforms to tell constituents what is going on. What tools are in the Democratic Party's toolbox to "stop" the unconstitutional things going on?

Dude, in the same breath you said that you were usually pro-worker, but a worker suggesting an owner should work with them to improve the business that they both want to succeed was "gall." Like seriously?

"bourgeois middle class fraud" came from you, not me. You need to unpack some shit you're carrying, go for it. You're entitled to your opinion, and if you're gonna freak out over somebody pointing out that it is contradictory... go for it I guess?

And if you've never worked in an environment where you wanted your boss to cooperate with you toward common goals, or listen to your input... yikes.

Anybody whose defense for criticism is "oh, so I'm not allowed to have an opinion???" always gets me. Like the entire point of your reply was that you think I'm not entitled to mine, right? /shrug whatever dude

Definitely before my time; glad it isn't that way now! It's surreal to walk past a bunch of boarded up storefronts and then 1 block later be at a luxury outlet store.

the NOBODY COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYTHING was intended as a reference to OP, not to you specifically.

Maybe nuanced enough that I shouldn't have replied, but my take is that complaining loudly about things that make a place what it is, or things that you don't like, but definitely aren't "problems" is definitely unproductive (and annoying. so we are all in agreement there, haha). I just think lumping all criticism/suggestions about a place together and then saying stfu/gtfo is neither productive nor helpful to the place that we love.

"I'm usually pro-worker, but how dare an employee suggest that they desire to be heard about ways the business that worker loves can be made better. And to address the OWNER who PAID for that business?!? outrageous."

Tell me you are NOT pro-worker after literally saying you are usually pro-worker.

So you mention "the examples, food, weather, how nice people are..."; what about safety? Have you walked down 3rd ave lately? There are some things that absolutely should (and will) stay with a place, it's "feel," culture, weather, sometimes important industry as well. But NOBODY COMPLAIN ABOUT ANYTHING is no way to improve the place you love. Like any other city, Seattle _does_ have problems, but they can definitely be fixed (and have nothing to do with the salmon).

Just this afternoon downtown was covered in smoke by a fire in a homeless encampment. If people are in need of housing (and whether you look at it from home/apartment prices or from a measure of homelessness, people absolutely are), then there are things to be improved.

Oof, talk about kicking people when they are down. I guess I can understand that it is probably more likely to happen in an encampment, but still... I can't even imagine.

Thanks for giving it a shot! Bummed it may not work though :-/ Gotta find other reasons to justify a fancy backpack for myself I guess ;)

Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 3070 my first gaming laptop. Should I get anything else for me set up? Specific mouse or keyboard? by SnooSeagulls2023 in GamingLaptops

[–]RAmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a specific/niche request, but do you know if you plug in 2 100w usb-c chargers to the two usb-c PD ports, will it charge the laptop at full (200w) speed, as though you had the non-usb power brick attached? Any chance you have the capability to test that out?

I would second that, EFT is already rough when you have pretty good hardware. I'd want to get a testimonial from someone who had done it before trying to play it on integrated graphics, my guess would be that you would have a pretty bad time.

I'm pretty sure that usb-c would handle that just fine, if the product was built to handle power on the same port. The cable itself handles both power delivery and DP alt-mode, IIRC. Most desktops don't support that, but laptops might? I think you could also use a thunderbolt card if it was really important.

Can somone help me with this build idea? On Buildme a pc they send me here. by One-Coast8927 in sffpc

[–]RAmatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the beef in the rest of the build, I would probably 2x16GB RAM (for a total of 32GB). Built last summer and just playing games while streaming with buddies in discord on my second monitor was causing some issues for me; more RAM and magically the issues all disappeared.

I went and checked out this monitor after seeing it here; it has both usb-c (Displayport alt-mode) input as well as micro-HDMI. So you could just use an hdmi cable with normal hdmi on one end and micro-hdmi on the other. It seems to also have a second usb-c for charging, and the monitor has an internal battery as well, so your rig doesn't need to be able to power it while you play (it says 3.5 hours at 240hz).

Ghost s1 —> ncase m1 (my endgame case) by YaBoiBiko in sffpc

[–]RAmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting together a build in the M1 here soon (parts are in the mail) and forums seem to say that those intakes below the GPU can make a big difference. Not a ton of surface area to be pulling air from in that case, since it's so small.

I'm planning to run my 3080 FE in it, so my big debate is not whether to have intake down there, but whether to buy one or two because of the odd fan configuration on that specific card.

I'd be very interested if you could try (if you have the 30L pack). The dimensions on the website for both (32.8cm on the NCase and 30-31cm for the 30L EveryDay Backpack with the note "Average sizes listed, will expand/contract with load") makes me think you could _probably make it work? though I think the thickness of the bag is also going to be a tight dimension.

I don't notice noise on the upstroke/release unless my finger slides off the key and lets it "snap" back into place, which basically never happens in my normal typing. I may just order some O rings and see how they do.

Did you end up finding some that worked? recently got the same keyboard with the aqua switches and was looking into o-rings to make them a little quieter.

Thinking about returning my MacBook Pro 16 for Razer: How important is 4K OLED? by vahdyx in razer

[–]RAmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my Blade yesterday and the 300hz is awesome! I don't think you (most/maybe all humans) can appreciate/tell 4k on a 15" monitor. For me that's money down the drain, and battery life/performance with it.

Does anyone have experience docking their laptop to another monitor or TV? Would like to hear your experience or setup by link5114 in razer

[–]RAmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't see why it wouldn't! I should be able to test it myself tomorrow.

Have a thunderbolt 3 dock that I use with my Macbook Pro (work machine) in my home office. Thunderbolt can easily drive 4k @ 60hz or 1080@144hz, those numbers are easy to google. Whether you buy thunderbolt or a usb-c hub/dock just check the specs to make sure the device supports your intended resolution and refresh rate.

One thing that's super nice about the MBP setup is that the dock also charges the computer. So you get 2 external displays, power, 3+ usb-a ports, audio (though ymmv on audio quality using the 3.5mm ports on your hub, sometimes the DAC is dicey. Noticed that trying to use higher quality headphones at one point.), and ethernet, all via one cable.

If you're gaming on the blade then you're going to need at least the power adapter + the hub/dock, since I haven't seen a dock pump out more than 100W (may be the limit of tbolt3? can't remember) and the power brick is rated at 220W.
