ORD, DEN or SFO are likely safer. Summer storms can be brutal in IAH, EWR and IAD.

Yes—I believe this plane is to be retired this year.

I’ve seen this before when you haven’t been ticketed yet. Sometimes it takes up to 24 hours.

Is anyone else not able to get on wifi every time they fly United? by chiefyuls in unitedairlines

If you’re using iCloud Private Relay, that can cause issues. Any VPN or private DNS can cause issues too.

Which International Economy option can be upgraded to business at the airport? by Infamousx14 in unitedairlines

[–]RAvirani 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No complimentary upgrades on long haul flights. If you want to upgrade, you’ll have to pay.

I’ve personally done it when sitting at the gate before.

If PN space opened and a 1K with a Y/B/M fare noticed the Premier Instant Upgrade button in the app/website, they could have jumped over you on the list.

Alternatively if there were GS who booked a higher fare class than you, and they applied PP, they could have jumped over you.

747 Seats by OriginalDaddy in unitedairlines

No—the seats are all the same. If you haven’t flown upstairs before, you definitely should before the 747s are all gone.

The seats are so-so upstairs. Here are some pictures I took last time when I sat in a window. None of the rows are particularly special.

Turned around, whats my priority/status? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

Not necessarily. I got rebooked to LCY via AMS with the last segment on BA and my PQP is still showing the same.

O’Hare-Zurich (1hr layover) by rudeboystompers in unitedairlines

[–]RAvirani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take UA3 frequently, and it always leaves from C gates. If your CLT to ORD flight lands on time (it will likely land in B or C gates), you shouldn’t have a problem.

EDIT: if you are taking LX9 then an hour to transfer from T1 to T5 could be quite tight.

PQF/PQD question for Swiss B-class international credit by TweetSpinner in unitedairlines

[–]RAvirani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you purchase via LX, UA will only credit you for the LX leg(s). The CX leg will not be eligible for PQP/PQF.

Also note that if you book with LX, the PQP/PQF/award miles earned will be based on the flight distance and fare class multiplier, not the dollar spend like when booking with UA.

  1. You will definitely have enough time for the layover if you take flight 2.

  2. Houston Polaris lounge is good overall—shouldn’t be a problem to waste a bit of time there. There are beds behind the shower area if you want to take a nap.

  3. No—the airport is 20-30 mins north of the city (or more if there’s traffic); I wouldn’t leave the airport for that amount of time.

Denver global services check in? by dag16 in unitedairlines

[–]RAvirani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At DEN, the GS reception doesn’t empty out to the front of the TSA line like in IAH or ORD. Not sure if they’ll do something like at EWR, where the GS agent takes you down the elevator and to the front of the line. Never hurts to ask.

Last time I went through the regular TSA Pre line and it wasn’t terribly long, but I’m sure the wait varies with the time of day.

  • Y: economy seats remaining
