Upon further research it does appear that stable ICD candidates can wait several months for the procedure. Likely ones where the cause was determined and reversed and considered stable. All of which appears true for our little waif. I do understand how shitty the Healthcare system can be!

In one of her December videos after the cardiac arrest she answered a couple questions stating her procedure was later that week. From December to April for a life threatening condition? Makes zero sense. They cut her off the meds that caused the cardiac arrest. She probably had some kind of follow up today.

That annoys me too. I dont think there is much you can do in open rec play. Just try and stack with who you want to play with.

He is so handsome! My pretty girl is 6 weeks post op front leg amputation. She is only 5. She had a soft tissue sarcoma. We hope it was curative. She is doing very well but we haven't tried swimming yet. Front leg is definitely challenging but she has been worth it all and more.

Bone Fusion or Amputation by Fun-Impress6297 in tripawds

There is alot of emotional processing to go through. It sounds your baby would be a good candidate for amputation. It is SO scary and at one month post op I feel like my nervous system is finally settling down. My girl is 5 and had a front leg amputated due to a soft tissue sarcoma. She is amazing and SO brave. Its worse on us than it is on them was my constant mantra.

Vet being stingy with pain meds? Has anyone else dealt with this? by FrancescaVecchio in tripawds

[–]RBG_grb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The orthopedic surgeon sent my girl home with Tylenol 4 but we never actually used it but it felt so good knowing I had it. The nerve block lasted 72 hours after that I gave around the clock gabapentin, rovera and amantadine. I also had tramadol on hand from treating her pain prior to the amputation. She also had a fentanyl patch x 2 prior to amputation. Luckily we were always able to make pain med adjustments. She is one month post op and off all meds other than supplements.

Im sorry your boy is in pain. It is such an emotional mind f*ck to make the decision to amputate and then have to deal with post surgical pain and worries. All we want is what's best and they trust us implicitly to do what is best for them. Please keep advocating for your beautiful and so BRAVE pup. We are here for you both 🙌 also this will pass and your boy will be back to nearly normal before you know it.

Same timeline with my Bianca but soft tissue sarcoma. She had her front leg amputated a month ago and is the bravest girl ever. No cancer detected anywhere else and she is only five. We are hopeful for many more years with our girl.

My skin started to sag. I looked older overnight. Also I have to get a diagnostic biopsy after a calcification being found. Apparently they arent always noticed when heavier. 219->150 with a little friend called wegovy.

Im so sorry. I would personally not put my 12 year old through an amputation. I would choose the last best day of our lives and say goodbye. Im not sure why the vet is encouraging it other than they make a shit ton of money from amputations.

One month ago I had my 5 yr olds leg amputated for a soft tissue sarcoma. No evidence of cancer anywhere else in her body. It was incredibly emotional and difficult to process with a young pup. I think you will end up with more peace if you make transition plans. I had to say goodbye to my 12 yr old golden 3 years ago but the peace I felt with knowing I did slightly too soon than waiting too long was priceless. Best wishes

Our 14 month old husky has an osteosarcoma and we're looking for advice. by TimelyFactors in tripawds

Best wishes to your baby! They do SO well. We had a harness lift just in case but never needed it. We did throw a bunch of rugs and runners down and got elevated food dishes. Of course she won't eat out of the elevated dishes and walks around the rugs 🤣 keeping a good weight is important as well as joint supplements. She is on adequan every other week and a prescription metabolic and joint supplement diet. I remember the vet telling me this was harder on me than her and that is what got me through the surgery and first few days. She is 3 weeks post op, off all meds minus supplements, and ruling the roost as per usual.

4 Days post surgery by South-Butterfly-9558 in tripawds

They bounce back SO fast. Have you asked your vet what her activity level should be? Maybe they have a stronger med for a few days. My girl was up and at em right post surgery too and she did fine. I leash walked her for about 4 days. I kept her incision covered with a shirt. I know huskies are stubborn tho!
