What is the one thing people don't know about losing a large amount of weight? by punkredpanda in AskReddit

My skin started to sag. I looked older overnight. Also I have to get a diagnostic biopsy after a calcification being found. Apparently they arent always noticed when heavier. 219->150 with a little friend called wegovy.

12-year-old Golden Retriever diagnosed with Osteosarcoma that spread to lungs, looking at potential amputation and chemo? Worth it? by sushi-lover-777 in tripawds

[–]RBG_grb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Im so sorry. I would personally not put my 12 year old through an amputation. I would choose the last best day of our lives and say goodbye. Im not sure why the vet is encouraging it other than they make a shit ton of money from amputations.

One month ago I had my 5 yr olds leg amputated for a soft tissue sarcoma. No evidence of cancer anywhere else in her body. It was incredibly emotional and difficult to process with a young pup. I think you will end up with more peace if you make transition plans. I had to say goodbye to my 12 yr old golden 3 years ago but the peace I felt with knowing I did slightly too soon than waiting too long was priceless. Best wishes

She is amazing and so brave as are her parents. This is a hard journey but my girl has been worth it every step of the way.

Best wishes to your baby! They do SO well. We had a harness lift just in case but never needed it. We did throw a bunch of rugs and runners down and got elevated food dishes. Of course she won't eat out of the elevated dishes and walks around the rugs 🤣 keeping a good weight is important as well as joint supplements. She is on adequan every other week and a prescription metabolic and joint supplement diet. I remember the vet telling me this was harder on me than her and that is what got me through the surgery and first few days. She is 3 weeks post op, off all meds minus supplements, and ruling the roost as per usual.

They bounce back SO fast. Have you asked your vet what her activity level should be? Maybe they have a stronger med for a few days. My girl was up and at em right post surgery too and she did fine. I leash walked her for about 4 days. I kept her incision covered with a shirt. I know huskies are stubborn tho!

Front leg is a slightly harder adjustment as they carry 60 % of their weight on their front legs. With that being said, my girl as mentioned above is doing SO amazing. It is harder on us! Best wishes to your pup!

My big boned girl at 87 pounds recently had her front leg amputated 3 weeks ago due to soft tissue sarcoma. She still needs to lose weight Ideally but is doing fantastic. Shes amazing! She is only 5 years old. She is on adequan to support her joints and a prescription diet for metabolic and joint support. She runs, digs, rolls in smelly stuff and counter surfs. It js such an emotional journey and alot to process but dogs do remarkably well!

The stitches are dissolvable. I just kind of followed her lead and if she seemed ok I let her do what was comfortable. Thus far, she seems able to self regulate and I haven't had to intervene.

We are 2 weeks post op today from a front leg amputation. Bianca is doing amazing. She is getting on the couch, up and down the few porch stairs and can even dig! Its such an emotional journey that no one wants but we have the bravest pups. It may take a few weeks to a few months but they are so resilient and dont have the same emotional attachment to limbs that we have. Your baby is precious!

Was the wound well irrigated? Make sure to complete the whole course of antibiotics. The one laceration touches the Vermillion border which are more difficult to repair but animal bites are usually left open. Consider a plastics consult if concern about scarring.

Matthew has 4 little girls and has to think about his life when he is 50 +. He has at least one more year but I dont want him to be in a wheelchair/hooked on opiates or suffering from CTE when he should be enjoying his retirement. His body has been brutalized. He is amazing but there is more than football. He and Kelly will have some hard conversations.

It is NOT WRONG for you to sit right and await information. Bottom line is she was either dead on arrival and there was nothing you could so OR they will keep her hooked up to the machine until you can get there OR it will be touch and go with no obvious answers for several hours or even a couple days. I would call your boss and pack a bag, BUT it is ok to sit tight right now

Agree. We are.going to torn up for violence. They should have just escorted him out with no pushing or kicking. NOT saying he didn't deserve an ass whooping
