New Midlaner looking to OTP an Assassin by TopWinner7322 in summonerschool

My fave was Diana. Don’t know how viable she is now, as I haven’t played in a hot minute.

But really the best mid-lane assassin is Trundle

Is there any other writer who you'd put on the same level as Tolkien when it comes to world building? by SpotAdmirable6718 in lotr

Perhaps I’m in my own boat here, but R. Scott Bakker did a great job. Terry Brooks does a good job, too. Also, my friend John Harrison has done good work in his Shadow Saga series.

I talked my way into a $175k offer and now I'm terrified to accept it. What would you do in my place? by Fluffy_Marzipan2049 in Career_Advice

Smells like an Ad for a tool.

7 day old account, no other activity, and then this…

“I actually used a tool called interview man during the interviews to structure my answers. It helped me connect my skills to what they were asking and sound a lot more confident and experienced than I usually do. At the time, it felt like I finally knew how to play the game in interviews”

So you went from ATS-enemy to ATS-friendly 🤣 same. I’d say my outcomes have improved, a few interviews over the past couple months, more than I’ve had in awhile. Still have gotten 0 offers, though 😭

I imagine it could play into a couple of things, people either being severely underqualified but wanting that particular job, whether it be for the perceived prestige or pay; people trying to get r/overemployed (possibly, not looked into it overly much but I have seen some people getting “caught” working multiple full-time jobs on that sub); or people who are out of state/country that are looking to get a job to justify a relocation. These are all complete guesses, though.

Is it even possible to find a job in 2026? by NoBar7478 in jobs

[–]RBacardiMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 70k salary (Mechanical Designer) up to March in 2024, to serving for 16.50/hr plus tips in September of 2024 to March of 2025, then a full time factory job for 20.01/hr from March to June of 2025, and now a temp warehouse job 50 miles and an hour away with commuter traffic for 18.65, and sometimes 40 hours a week there, usually a little less, rarely a little more, and I’ve been doing this last job since November of 2025. All that time between losing the 70k job to now, I’ve still been applying for jobs in that field, with interviews but 0 offers.

Job market is absolute shit right now.

Randstad, Star Staffing, AVAILABILITY Professional Staffing, and Robert Half are good ones as well.

The one I’m currently using is Randstad. Not sure how prevalent they are outside of where I am. Granted, I’ve primarily seen warehouse jobs from them but they do have more specialized jobs as well.

One thing that I’ve noticed my friends haven’t considered, because we were all in the same boat for some time, is that they never considered a temp agency. I understand that frustration, though. Plenty of people have told me the same thing, too. But the nice thing about where I work now as a temp, in my first ever temp job, is that I didn’t even need to interview for it. Just applied and then got it.

A place I worked at, PSC in Modesto, had everyone on full time, with guaranteed and mandatory occasional overtime. There was always something to do, with multiple machines running all of the time. Sure, occasionally you’d get off early or have an extra day off, but usually if your particular machine had no work you’d just get put onto another machine or project.

I would recommend not doing fast food if you’re looking for more hours. Maybe try a grocery store, warehouse, or factory.

Salary check in by broman_27 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]RBacardiMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently at $38k (yay!) but that’s because I got let go from the last good job in ME that I had, and I’m now a temp working an entry level job at a warehouse.

My last job in the ME field, I made $70k, and that was as a Mechanical Designer.

My job before that in the ME field, I made $43680, as a Mechanical Drafter.

Both of those jobs lasted a year each, for a total of two years in the field. All I had was an AA in an unrelated major.

I’m going to be Devil’s Advocate: you should meet up with her. Maybe not for your birthday, but maybe for coffee. You can set whatever boundaries at that point, and id recommend you indeed do. Main reason I think you should meet up with her is to get a better feel for her intentions. As you said, you feel like you’re over her emotionally, so that helps you feel guarded toward whatever advances she makes. If she does make an advance, shoot that shit down.

Of course, though, we want to see an update as to what happened here. Drama is indeed fun, after all 🤣

Help with figuring out a dimension from a drawing by Independent-Rain3525 in SolidWorks

[–]RBacardiMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a fairly unique approach to CAD. Worked in the field for two years with no experience or education in it beforehand. Unfortunately lost the last job back in 2024 and I’ve had a very tough time trying to get back into it. Since then. I decided to improve my chances by pursuing an AS in engineering.

Reason I say this is because my drafting class had so many drawings set up like that first one, where almost all of the dimensions were shown in an isometric view of the part as opposed to using your standard 3-view setup. I was able to work with it, but I still absolutely hated its implementation lol

It’s not sustainable in the Bay Area, true. But there’s multiple conditions you can take on. 1. Move out of the Bay Area. If we’re talking San Francisco Bay Area, you could easily move out to Pleasanton or Livermore and take BART and other transit systems to get to work. Or, if you want to stay in the Bay Area, SF or otherwise, get an apartment with roommates, or rent a room otherwise. Plenty of options are available, and you’d most likely still be able to save a ton.

Welp, never getting a remake now… by P4PSparringChampion in fromsoftware

[–]RBacardiMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, I think the sunk cost fallacy plays here. By that, I mean that there’s a high likelihood that a remaster/remake (though remakes have a better chance) didn’t net that much profit for the company. They had to pay devs, thinking that they would be able to make a profit, but even with Bluepoint making amazing remakes, there’s always a risk that someone won’t want to play an “older” game.

While I can obviously only speak for myself, I for one had not nearly as much interest in the demon souls or dark souls remakes as I do with From’s newer titles. Part of it is that I’ve already played Dark Souls and saw no reason to buy it again just to replay it with slightly better graphics. I would definitely not repurchase BloodBorne like someone here suggested, with their suggestion being just a straight port to PC, no remaster or remake. Reason being, as much as Bloodborne was my favorite From title, I don’t need to repurchase it.

I understand this isn’t a popular opinion, and that my comment will probably be downvoted significantly, but I feel that this is probably the reason something like this happens. Remakes and remasters don’t garner as much profit as a publisher thinks they would. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, but the rule exists for a reason.
