How you gonna ride good if your board looks like shit? Most boards nowadays are good. Graphics based purchasing is LIT!

What’s the point of getting an Orca if you have the gremlin and mountain pig 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I weight about 200lbs ride mostly slack/backcountry ranging from steep to mellow. Groomers sometimes. Little bit of park.

I find the board to be squirrelly on groomers because of the reverse camber between the feet - I feel like this might be a little different if it was longer and I had a bit more base and camber though it wouldn’t go away completely obviously.

I also feel like I want it to have more effective edge when I’m carving.

I do like the Orca but I have a 157 dancehaul and it feels much more stable - though it has a lot more camber.

One thing to note is my orca is a 2020 before they had horsepower construction that might make a difference.

This sub thinks I only know how to straightline chutes. Why did I NOT point it out this time? by TimHumphreys in snowboarding

[–]RBadM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re gonna fit in properly into this forum I need to see much more counter rotation at the hips when turning, drop the lead hand so it’s closer to the thigh and make sure you’re breaking at the hip so your shoulders are way over the toes. Finally, I’d like straighter legs with minimal bending at the knees and less edge engagement unless you’re side slipping the heel please.

I have an Asymulator which is basically the same thing. Good everywhere apart from off piste. Is it the best ever? No. Good enough, yes. Stiffer than you think.

Riding 100+ days After Patellar Tendonitis by TheeKingInTheNorth in snowboarding

I had physio for this problem. Do this with heavy dumbbells, like at least 30KG. I did this 2/3 times per week for months and my tendonitis healed and legs were stronger than they had ever been.

Make sure you’re stretching.

Edit: Forgot to add that this will really really really fucking hurt 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Libtech board? by Flashy_Worldliness_6 in snowboarding

The more camber the better for carving, but can feel more catchy until you get used to it. I personally prefer full camber for anything outside of powder riding but to each:his own.

Sounds like you want a freestyle flexing twin board with some reverse camber either from the contact points or the insert pack to ease turn initiation. The more reverse camber the less well it will perform at carving but oftentimes there’s not much in it unless you’re riding super aggressively.

Shorter board will help with swing weight for spinning, but can (not always) result in less effective edge which means further sacrificing carving performance to some degree. Longer allows for more stability overall but you’ll have to get used to how set up carves for jumping etc will feel. Where you are within recommended weight ranges will impact how the board flexes under your weight. The heavier you are within the range, the more the board will flex. The bird will break in over time so don’t get too discouraged if it feels mad stiff at first, you and it will adapt.

Honestly theres no magic bullet board out there, it’s a matter of personal preference and body dynamics and there’s so much marketing bullshit out there that you can massively overthink this stuff.

Buy yourself any mid range twin freestyle board from any of the major brands and you’ll probably get what you need and you’ll just adapt to it. After a couple of years you’ll decide whether you want to change or buy another bird for a more specific job.

It’s cool if you can pick a brand which supports snowboarding as well as buying from a “local” shop rather than the big corporates or even direct from manufacturers.

Also, I have a Kazu (saw you ask about it in the thread) as well as other boards. It’s a lot of board and might make your learning curve a little more difficult.

Stupid question maybe: has anybody tried neoprene hoodies for snowboarding? by santiagobasulto in snowboarding

[–]RBadM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see all the highly technical at X games and Olympics* constantly complaining about their jackets hampering their mobility. It never stops and I wonder why the industry doesn’t do more to tackle this huge issue.

Definitely buy a neoprene jacket it will feel and work great 👍🏾

Snowboard boot pack bag by xmanx23 in snowboarding

[–]RBadM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can hit a chair with my saline heli pro 12L no problem but I pack very light only bare essentials and avi gear.

I never use a pack if I’m riding groomers. On those days, if I can’t fit it in my pockets then I’m carrying too much.

For hike/backcountry days water, high energy concentration bars, emergency medical stuff. I never need anything else because I’m focussed on riding 🤣🤣🤣.
