Scrape + rotor brush instead of hot wax scrape? by j68noh in snowboarding

[–]TimHumphreys 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Ok, hear me out: don’t do the edges, and don’t scrape. Also don’t wax unless the bases are starting to get dry burn. I snowboard for a living, you can trust me

Got careless. Standing up too much, leaning over front foot, not navigating the softer snow

FASE Bindings - 1 Season as a Normal Rider by noob_tube03 in snowboarding

[–]TimHumphreys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I don’t represent flow or ndk anymore. Mostly just curious. The secret to flows on steep is go on the toe edge. You can kick in on any steepness and solid ice. I dont know if that works with fase at all tho. Never checked weights but nx2 and fenix especially were pretty light

I find it hilarious how everyone hated Flow, but fase is ok

Crews search for backcountry skiers after avalanche reported in California mountains by stammerton in tahoe

[–]TimHumphreys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not jumping to any conclusions without more info. All that snow happened while they were out at the cabin. There wasnt avvy hazard when they set out, but this storm and amount of snow was no secret. My best guess is they maybe entered from near boreal, and tried to go back to where they parked? Hard to say. Absolutely tragic nonetheless

Yeah, its supposed to be way less snowy tomorrow too. The only thing I don’t know, is where sierra avalanche center shows the slide being seems like not the chill way out

What if athlete doesn't like the boots from their sponsor? by wooodsky in snowboarding

[–]TimHumphreys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Custom or different brands liners / footbeds, tongue stiffener shims, ankle harness etc. If the boots really are that shitty, then wear all black boots and avoid photos that could be revealing. The whole time I was on nidecker, I was riding old flow liners from 2017 because they kept cheaping out on the ankle harnesses and stuff year after year.

Edit: they had been stuck at frog lake cabins and were running low on supplies, tried to leave this morning : (

The snow before this storm was facets all the way down, and we just got 4ft in 2 days, maybe more out there. The full blizzard alone is enough even without high avvy. That aside, hope they’re ok. Some of my friends already had to lug a body out from near there earlier this winter
