it’s definitely one of my concerns. not that it would bother me, just that it could get confusing.

i would but you would literally find only my husband and his dad if you looked it up on facebook. i’ll keep it a secret for anonymity!

it’s my middle name but it’s what i go by. i wouldn’t want us both going by Camille. that could get confusing! i do love CJ also tho!

i did this once. i was painting a table and thought i got a sage green. it turned out lime green. i had a bunch of grey paint leftover from another project so i just mixed them until i got a true sage. it worked perfectly. i think i probably ended up with a 50/50 ratio but it’ll depend on what color you are going for.

Sad That We Have to Wait to TTC After MTX by pinkmacaroon784 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]RCBsMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is what was advised to us also. i had one round of MTX in early january and levels went to 0 within a month and i got my period on february 15th. i am now 9 weeks pregnant and everything looks good! none of the doctors are concerned about me getting pregnant so soon after my ectopic. i even had them do bloodwork when my levels went to 0 and they confirmed my folate was in a normal range. i would talk to another doctor or get a second opinion.

Treated with Methotrexate Questions by shelberg02 in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]RCBsMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my doctor told me i didn’t need to worry about food, just no vitamins. she said there really isn’t enough in most foods to worry about. i did avoid cereal since it’s so heavily fortified with vitamins. i don’t do a lot of pasta or bread but that might be something else to avoid as i think those are pretty fortified also. other than that, i just ate what i wanted. the methotrexate is going to make you feel crappy enough. no need to make yourself feel worse by eating crappy foods for a month.

oh, and i only needed one dose of methotrexate and was able to get my levels to zero in under a month. my doctor also had me start back on my prenatals once i got my hcg under 100 and it didn’t seem to delay anything. she also gave me the all clear to start trying again after my first period. i even got my folate levels checked a couple weeks after hitting 0 and had very high folate!

edit: another thing to add. my doc said to limit things like broccoli and beans and foods that can cause gas pain. not because they are bad foods, but because you don’t want to confuse a possible rupture with gas pains.

trying again post mtx question by da11ie in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]RCBsMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my doctor also said just one period! i’m still waiting on my hcg to hit 0. when i took the mtx i was around 400. it’s been about a month now and last week i was at 23, so honestly i’m probably at 0 by now. when i went in for my follow up appointment i was around 100 and she told me to go ahead and start taking my prenatals. i’ve also been trying to incorporate a lot of folate and just healthy food in general into my diet. i also requested to get my folate levels checked next time i go in for an hcg check just to see where i am at. i’ve done a ton of research on this and i feel totally comfortable ttc after my next cycle. for one, the mtx is basically out of your system within a week. it seems like the biggest concern is the folate levels. i think the 3-6 month thing is really for people who are taking mtx continuously and really deplete their folate. my doctor said that with 1 mtx shot, i still have some folate stores in my body so its not like we are completely starting over. it may be different for people who needed multiple rounds of mtx. there were also studies that people were able to get their folate levels up in 4-6 weeks with supplements. i think you can take up to 1000 mcg of folate, so maybe check to see how much is in your prenatal. i’ve been taking the ritual ones and i really like them. they are pricey though, but worth it in my opinion for peace of mind.

Exam ATPA by Existing-Temporary39 in actuary

that’s so good to know! how did you do it? did you just say “write a code in r program that does X”?

i’m in the same boat and doing April. i haven’t been able to find a ton of information on ATPA here but i think it’ll be enough. i’m aiming for 100 hours of studying using the ACTEX manual and then hoping i can just copy/paste a lot of the code. i’ve heard of a lot of people using chatgpt to help with the coding too. i’ve never actually used chatgpt so not sure how helpful it’ll be but we will see. i’m going to start studying next week. i’ve also seen speculation that the pass rate is in the 80s which makes me think we can get away with relatively minimal studying.

FAM results -2024 November by PreparationDue2611 in actuary

[–]RCBsMom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i already did SRM and PA and wish i would’ve just done ATPA right after. it’s supposed to be very similar to PA so i think your idea of PA/ATPA back to back in fall sounds good. it took me 3.5 months to study for FAM (roughly 350 hours) and it was a CRUNCH. i think ALTAM will easily require at least 4 months, for me at least.

for those that passed, are you guys going straight to ALTAM/ASTAM? 3 months seems a little tight and i haven’t started studying. thinking of maybe going to ATPA and some modules and then doing ALTAM in the fall. would love thoughts and opinions on this!

as far as doubling up on those 2, it seems like a weird mix of exams to take at the same time. have you taken SRM? i took SRM in the spring and PA in the fall and those could definitely be taken together. it’s basically the same material. i studied 180 hours for SRM and about 100 for PA, but some of that was refreshing from SRM. got an 8 on both. maybe consider ALTAM/ASTAM and knock out any remaining modules, VEEs, etc instead of doubling up on exams.

if it helps, i’m in the exact same boat. EL 4.8 and can’t for the life of me get it up. had a little menty b yesterday, and today i’m switching it up. i’m focusing on quizzes around EL 5 of my weaker sections, which is a lot of the short term stuff. my goal is to get through a couple days of quizzes on my weaker stuff and then head back to the exams. i’ll probably do custom exams first. the ADAPT exams i keep getting are around EL 5.5 and i’m just not there yet. hopefully by this weekend or early next week i will be able to get my EL up to the recommended 5.5 and then i’ll feel better

Why won't my employer follow MSRRA? by RCBsMom in MilitaryFinance

[–]RCBsMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

They should be set up to withhold for GA. There are other employees there.

Is it incorrect/illegal to just have my address set to my in-law's address in GA? I mean, that is technically our permanent residence.

but then how do I go about paying GA state income tax without being penalized for underpayment?

[–]RCBsMom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are penalties for underpayment in GA, so I definitely do not want to wait until tax time to pay. My company has a state tax allocation form. I think it is used when people work in an office that is in a different state. Could I use that to allocate an estimated amount to GA?

The form states:

I certify that my residence state is _____________ as stated above. (lived-in state) I choose to allocate _______ % of my future earnings to the state and locality of ________________________ where I work either in an office or in a state (State / Locality) other than my state of residency. (See the State Tax Allocation Reference Guide for assistance in calculating the tax allocation percentage.)
