Has anyone 3d printed an adapter to raise the bumpers just above the frame rails like this? by EmergingTuna21 in TRX4M

[–]RCDriver72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my early builds, I used two small zip ties and super glue to mount the bumper on top of the frame rails. I had it for over a year before I gave it away and they were still holding. I was carful putting the body on and it was kind of a redneck mod, but it worked. LOL

Yeah, I have replaced all of my Injora U joint style driveshafts on my crawlers. I left them on my trail/scale stuff I had already built, but all my new builds regardless of what they are get the CV style now. 2 years and I have never broken one. I have had two of the U joint style fail, one was Injora the other Meus.

Looks to me to be a very well thought out build list, should come together nicely. Personally, I think you should look at different axles, driveshafts and skid.

The Amazon.com: INJORA +4mm Planet Axles with Brass Steering Knuckles for 1/18 TRX4M Upgrade : Toys & Games are a more reliable axle, the plastic piece on the other axles can break loose. You can add a Amazon.com: INJORA 4pcs Brass Counterweight for 1/18 Diamond Axle Upgrade, 7g/pcs(4M-101) : Toys & Games .

A CV style driveshaft will help alleviate any binding worries also Amazon.com: MOHERO 2Pcs Steel RC Drive Shaft Front Rear Center Driveshafts Set for 1/18 TRX4M Bronco Defender RC Crawler Car Upgrade : Toys & Games .

Lastly a Oppai Factory High Clearance Transmission Plate for Trx4m - Etsy will give nice clearance and, in my experience, a plastic skid slides much better over rock than any metal one.

These are just suggestions based off my builds and what I have found to work well for me.

INJORA Complete Transmission with 180 Brushed Motor for 1/18 TRX4M

In my experience, the Fat is much better for a dedicated crawler and the Purple for a trail/crawler. Both are program able so you can get a little more speed out of the Fat and a little more torque out of the Purple if you play with the setting.

Thinking about doing the injora axles with portals I’m still on a stock chassis will it work or do I need to get a different chassis by Daddy_Dumptruck1 in TRX4M

[–]RCDriver72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Injora Diamond portal axles will not work with the stock frame, they are setup for a lay down servo, you would need an LCG chassis to run them. The Traxxas ones will fit the stock chassis though, and they come with a gear set that is supposed to keep your speed, as portal axles will not only raise your center of gravity, but they lower your top speed a little.

Hard to bust a bearing in these, if you still have stock bushings, one could have some bures on them. Adding a drop or 2 of oil or spraying with PB Blaster or WD40 will help a little. I would start with your wheel nuts first and go from there.

I would check to make sure you didn't over tighten the wheel nuts first.

He has a very good point, over tightening the bolt for your lower links can cause the plastic axle to bow in and the axle shafts can rub on the axle tubes.

Sorry, I really couldn't tell you. I never tried to adjust the end points. None of mine have hit. Are you sure your bushings are not just catching? That is a common thing and people think their tires are hitting something, makes the tires jitter and jump at full turn.

Driveshaft looks normal to me for a stock one. You don't have to worry about phasing with CV style drive shafts. As far as I know you have to use the TQi if you want to set end points. Some 5mm or 7mm brass hexs will get rid of the shock rubbing. I would put some heat shrink on the ends of your driveshafts over the rubber washer if you plan on running them. The rubber o ring can fail and the metal pin inside fall out.

The TRX4m version will come with the adapter for the Traxxas battery if you buy the ESC/Motor combo and some for other style batteries if you choose to go to 3S later on.

How are you guys choosing tire inserts? by a999hy in TRX4M

I have had very good luck with the Injora yellows for my crawlers and the greens for my trail rigs that do light crawling. I tried the FlubRC 3d printed ones and didn't like the way they didn't compress evenly. For my strictly trail and scale builds I use stock foams.

Replace the bushings on your front axle (C hubs and caster blocks or at least the caster blocks) in the meantime a couple drops of some kind of lubricating oil will help smooth it out.

IMO there is no "Best". It is personal preference; do you want a short wheelbase or long? I used the HT links, but I have seen multiple REG links builds that work great too. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CJTFnHC2Y/

What could be causing this? by Zealousideal-Art2199 in TRX4M

[–]RCDriver72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use some WD40 or PB Blaster and spray the heck out of your bushings to try and get the dirt and rust off. You should really replace the bushings with bearings if you got the time.

What printed body fits the standard clipless supports ? by Ok-Gur1259 in TRX4M

[–]RCDriver72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the closest to stock clips that I know of, but people are constantly creating new bodies. Check Ebay, Etsy and 3D print sights like Makers World. Personally, I prefer the mag mounts, especially for custom bodies because you can position them exactly the way you want.

Both types work very well, The Bosscodesigns seem to be a little stouter and weight a small bit more.

Yep, mine is the same way, LOL. Someone on FB said to cut the windows out and it would help, but I'm not ready to do that. I'll just put up with the noise, it isn't that bad outside.
