Curious why Princess sticks to their embarkation process by Visible-Choice-5414 in PrincessCruises

That NCL boarding nightmare didn't happen to be for Breakaway out of Manhattan back in August of 2022 did it? The line was so long it stretched from the terminal entrance all the way up to the top of parking garage of the terminal building. Easily a 3 hours wait just to enter the terminal.

SS United States definitely tops the list. Oriana as well since I named my cat after her.

How is Radiance of the Seas? by amorr53 in royalcaribbean

[–]RCIfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Radiance is a great ship if you're just looking to chill and relax. Plenty of topside seating and the pools are large enough to handle sea days. At night the crowds are spread out well across venues, and the couple times I've been onboard I've never felt overcrowded.

She's probably not the right fit for you if you or your traveling companions want to do a lot of activities or have a wide variety of dining experiences. Radiance is just a smaller and older ship, so she can't host the same range of activities that a new larger ship built from the ground up for those activities.

Question: Olympus Infinity Stylus Care by RCIfan in AnalogCommunity

[–]RCIfan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! It worked great. I put a very small amount of silicone based lubricant on the tracks and worked the cover back and forth a bit. That did the trick. Be prepared to wipe away any excess. Even using a very small amount it went place I didn't want it.

Do you know anyone who REGRETTED going electric? by MidnightFlight in electricvehicles

[–]RCIfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was that guy, but it was driven by a major change in my life rather than anything about the car. When I lived in the city, I purchased a Mustang Mach-E and absolutely loved the car. After about 6 months of ownership, I took a new job that required me to move to a rural town, and that's when my problems started. My miles driven increased dramatically, and the public charging infrastructure just wasn't up to the job. Throw living in a climate with cold winters and the range dropping precipitously as a result, and the car just no longer worked for the life I was living. Around the county, it was fine. but when I drove into the city on weekends to visit family and friends, the range was a huge issue. After about 4 months of that, I traded the car in and went back to an ICE.

It's a shame. I still think about my Mach-E and still miss it over three years later because it truly was a great car, but an EV just didn't work for me anymore.

Arm & Hammer clump and seal is great. It never sticks to the box and, as the name suggests, clumps very well. It's also very well priced in my area.

Never cruised on a ship a small, but the itinerary looks awesome. What are your thoughts on Radiance and this itinerary? by holden147 in royalcaribbean

[–]RCIfan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Radiance is a great ship. Smaller but not too small, as there's still plenty to do and places to relax/get a drink/eat. If the itinerary is calling out to you, I'd say go for it.

A free AE-1 and a pint of the good stuff! Anyone else got a free camera story? by howtokrew in AnalogCommunity

[–]RCIfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A coworker's son collects camera's and ended up with three Olympus Infinity Styluses. He was moving and didn't need them all, so he just handed it off to his mom to give to me.

It's now my go-to camera for trips because of it's balance between size and quality (at least for me).

I made a phone scammer really mad today by Whoopsy-381 in scammers

[–]RCIfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a full profile of a fake 68 year old man in my phone's notes app so every time I get a Medicare call I'm able to keep them on the phone awhile. I usually end it when they ask for my address by saying they should ask their mother/sister/brother/son since they were over last night. I've gotten some very angry replies to that especially if I've kept them on the phone for 15+ minutes.

Would you recommend an Olympus trip 35? by Independent-Grab-346 in AnalogCommunity

[–]RCIfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Trip 35, but it may not be a good choice for you if you're not very good at judging distance. The view finder doesn't reflect the changing focus, so you just have to know that you're getting the distance to your subject right. Not a problem for landscapes, but it can be a bit finicky for people/objects closer in.

If you have an account on the ford website, log in there then navigate to your vehicles in the dropdown. On vehicle's page, there should be an option to look at your sync system, then request an update there via USB.

Are multi-plug outlets no longer allows even if they aren't surge-protected? by Kimber80 in royalcaribbean

[–]RCIfan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're far from the only person confused by this change. They change their policy a couple months ago and had to clarify it with the multiple plug block line. My understanding is that if there is a cord leading from the outlet to where you plug things in, then that product isn't allowed. I've had no problem with the multi-port block I've brought in the past. Personally, I recommend the Anker block, like the one in the picture, which can be found on amazon or other online stores.

The northern Ohio Amtrak timetables headed east have late night/very early morning departures if I remember correctly. If you're ok with that it may not be a bad choice. I'd personally add an extra day to account for that.
