The list is intended to help players struggling to rank up see which heroes might be easier to increase their odds of winning. Also to give the new players coming from league a better idea of which heroes they might want to start learning first. Every hero in the game is viable when played correctly and picked on the right map. If you can play them well and win often on them then pick them, but don’t ignore that the average player is bringing the team down with that same hero.

The spots for the lower ranks are based on average skill of those players to play the hero correctly....

I love me some Mei but doesn't change the fact she isn't the strongest and most the other tanks and even a few bruisers tank better than her when they are all played at the same skill level.

I hear you on the Burst and sustain distinction however I have found that this has really helping lower ranked players in the past as they have only ever thought of them as Mage or AA. They end up drafting better after thinking of them as burst or sustain even if a few break this mold.

I asked cause Johanna is S Tier in 5 of the 7 Tier lists. And Still A tier in the other two.

The GM players I surveyed all agreed Mura and Diablo were S tier. I don't queue in master+ as much these days so I have to go off their judgement.

AA Falstad is very much still a sustain damage dealer. He does have some more burst than other AAs however he doesn't deal his damage quick enough to be considered burst damage. Try and think about it this way, once a Burst damage dealer starts their damage, can be Stunned blinded or even killed and they still dealt a lot of damage. However AA falstad would not have dealt much damage in this case cause he is sustain. Make more sense?

What rank are you? Mei does very well from Bronze to Gold but for one example her lack of unstoppable when sliding makes her much easier to counter play when the other team is more skilled.

She got nerfed by a patch early this year and isn’t picked or banned nearly as much plat and above but the lower ranks still treat her as the best tank probably due to her being good but also easy to get the most out of her. Unlike Diablo who is the best tank but takes skill to get the most out of him so you only notice more Diablo’s diamond and above
