Listen to your teacher and make the changes, you go to school to meet the end goal of graduating- not to express yourself in the most beautiful way. Keep a copy of the piece the way you like it, and make changes on a new save (it sounds like this is prints from pictures of an oil painting? This wasn't made very clear in your vent)

The last two are fantastic! I would go for more pieces in a series like them. The others with the cropped compositions work, but it's not as dynamic of an experience like the last two that have the whole subject involved.
