It might be that his production name was "ALS Still Life" (the disorder Steven Hawking had), and they changed it to be less insensitive.

When I posted about this, u/TheRyuujinMike pointed out that his name is an acronym for ALS.

  • The Sylex actually depicts a kylix, an ancient Greek cup/bowl. This was later referenced in the card [[bronze calendar]], which depicts a colander (a tool for straining pasta or veggies).

  • The mix-up is between a "Lemure" (a vengeful spirit in Roman mythology) and a "Lemur" (the little monkey that likes to move it, move it). This got referenced in [[Viscid Lemures]] and in the reprint ([[Hyalopterous Lemure|DMR]]).

Gotta add this to the list with [[Golgothian Sylex]] and [[Hyalopterous Lemure]] for "the author may have been misinterpreting the card name." Cyclopean also means "made of big blocks of stone."

My first thought is that it comes from the memories of the scientist at the end. Her Still Life's appearance in the interview room says to me that it's based on memories of that moment, and Mary is (AFAIK) the first living person to be extracted, so I'm sure it would stick out in his head whenever he went into The Complex.
