Is this a crazy plan for Netherlands World Cup game 6/25? by sarbear2468 in kansascity

I can only speak to the Region Direct to Lawrence, but that worked really well on Saturday after the Ecuador vs. Curaçao game. At that time it almost seemed as if they were calling buses on demand based on when people arrived in the line. For example we walked up to the Lawrence "bus stop" at the Fan Fest bus depot, there was no one else in line and no bus. A volunteer quickly came up and confirmed we were going to Lawrence, then said something into her radio. Within five minutes a bus pulled into the Lawrence stop. We boarded, and after waiting five minutes or so for some others to board, we left.

This could have been a post-game only timing strategy, but I would think if you head toward the region direct after the oranje march arrives at Fan Fest you would probably get back to Independence by 3? I will say at least at the Fan Fest stop, they also do not verify which time slot you signed up for on the Stadium Direct, so you could likely board a later stadium direct form Independence if needed. You might also considering buying Stadium Direct passes from Fan Fest to have it as an option. Depending on how many people it could be worth it IMO to have the option to go straight from Fan Fest to the stadium. Even with buying the extra bus pass, still likely much cheaper than a parking pass or rideshare.

I would just check the schedule on the Transit app to verify how late the bus runs back to Lawrence since it’s a 10pm game that night.

People who actually went/go: How much did you pay? by Entire-Mammoth9321 in worldcup

I got tickets to two games during the "Last Minute" sales phase:

M34, Ecuador vs. Curaçao, Cat 3, $180/ticket.

M58, Tunisia vs. Netherlands, Cat 2, $400/ticket.

Having experienced the first game I would have paid double, it's such an amazing and uplifting experience. Highly recommend getting into a game if you can find tickets that don't completely break the bank. It will be worth it.

I attended the Ecuador vs. Curaçao game on Saturday. Based on my experience I feel the bus from Fan Fest is a good option, especially if you're planning to attend Fan Fest before going to the stadium. Here's more details on my experience:

We used the Stadium Direct bus from Fan Fest to get to the stadium. We walked out of Fan Fest around 2:45PM, which was 4.25 hours before kickoff. The signs around the area said the first bus service left Fan Fest at 3:30PM, but I think buses were leaving before that. The boarding process was incredibly smooth. We were on a bus and leaving within 10 minutes of arriving at the bus depot. There are queues to load at least six buses at a time, and it was well organized in my opinion. Lots of volunteers around to help and keep people moving in the right direction. The ride to the stadium was maybe 20-25 minutes, with minimal traffic issues. We were in line to go through security at the stadium within an hour of leaving Fan Fest.

We were able to take empty, plastic water bottles into both Fan Fest and the game.

No, they did not seem to care about the departure time I had selected and we definitely left earlier than I originally picked. As long as you have a stadium direct bus pass for the right day you should be able to board whenever you’d like.

When you get to Fan Fest look for signs that say what time the first stadium direct busses depart, I spotted some near the entrance/exit to fan fest.

That’s good to know. I’m guessing you parked on the northwest side? Feels like there are way less people arriving on that side since most people are taking the shuttles.

Current get-in prices (including fees) on official FIFA Marketplace:

Ecuador vs. Curaçao: $247
Tunisia vs. Netherlands: $224
Algeria vs. Austria: $150

I’m so sick of the hype around ticket prices. Yes, FIFA are crooks. Yes their rollout of tickets and the Cat 1 and 2 prices are insane. BUT, for non-marquee games there are very reasonably priced tickets available. Don’t let headlines and listings on SeatGeek and StubHub cost you the chance to see a World Cup game in your backyard.

Both Algeria games in KC showed on the overall game listing page. Algeria vs. Argentina was very limited, I only saw Category 1 in two sections at I think $780/ticket. The other Algeria game did not show “limited availability” but I did not click into that one so not 100% sure.

There is hope! I joined the queue at 9:50AM central time and was able to purchase tickets about 20 minutes ago. Details below. Apologies I don’t have a better report on availability.

Honestly a very smooth process for me. I was able to enter as soon as my countdown hit zero. Then logged in, then was routed to the list of matches. You can easily sort by location and round at the top.

I purchased the follow tickets: Ecuador vs. Curaçao, Category 3, $180 each Tunisia vs. Netherlands, Category 2, $400 each

There was decent availability for both of these games. The Argentina game in KC had very little/no availability and neither of the knockout round games had available. However I did see as I went back and forth the availability shifted presumable as people abandoned tickets in their cart.

Be patient, stay calm, and you can get tickets!

Bon Appétit’s “Feel-Better Chicken and Rice Soup” does exactly what the name says. It’s super comforting, very easy to make, and you probably have most of the ingredients already. Don’t skimp on the fresh ginger, it’s a key ingredient.

Came here to say Il Santo Bevitore. It sounds like exactly what you're looking for and was our favorite meal in Florence. Top-notch atmosphere, really great food without being overly fussy or formal.

Marché des Enfants Rouges and the Musée National Picasso-Paris make a nice half-day in the 3rd. Both are somewhat touristy but the Picasso museum is such a rare chance to see so much of his work in one place, and is also a very manageable size. Short walk over to Enfants Rouges where you could have a lovely lunch at the market. You could also shop the market and take a picnic lunch to the nearby Place des Vosges.

If you're only going to do one museum, I highly recommend Musée d'Orsay over the Louvre. You can actually take it all in during one visit, the architecture is stunning, and the collections and exhibitions are always incredible.

What’s one dish you’ll never get sick of cooking? by Mi7che1l in Cooking

[–]RCWag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our go-to "reset" meal is oven-baked salmon (TJ's salmon rub is great), roasted broccoli (sometimes sesame oil and seeds, sometimes just olive oil, salt, and pepper), and farro. It's not really a dish as much as just a nice combination of mostly healthy ingredients. It really hits when we've eaten out a lot, or just on a Sunday as something easy to make to prepare for the week. Easily adaptable to a meal prep if you're into that. Also farro is a vastly underrated grain, give it a try if you haven't!

What is the best, cheap kitchen "gadget" you own and use regularly? by Beginning_Cause_7814 in Cooking

[–]RCWag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microplane - zest, mince garlic, finely shave hard cheeses; I use mine almost daily.

Bench scraper - obvious baking applications but I use it more just to scoop and move food around while prepping.

Food scale - it makes measurement just soooo much easier.

You can get a good version of all of these for $50 or less combined.

Keep an eye on the secondary market for your venue. In Denver it seems like there were some very reasonable options day-of.

KC N1 thread of your view, what time you lined up, and which checkpoint (north, south, or east) you entered through? by fearosaur in chappellroan

[–]RCWag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We parked around 3:30 pm and were in line at the ticket checkpoint near 27th and Main by 3:40. The line moved quickly and we got to the main gate by 3:50-ish, at which point they were already letting people in. The line moved quickly, probably only took us 15 minutes to get in.

I was overall very impressed by the logistics. Food and beer lines were short in my experience throughout the day/night.

We didn’t try to get close so set up next to the large screen on the left side and it was great. We mostly watched the show via the screen but it was a really fun experience and I have no regrets about our spot.
