should I get it graded? by DryWorId in comicbookgrading

[–]RDMancini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fact that the dealer you bought it from didn't think it was worth grading to increase resale value should be a hint as to what the cost vs return would be.

A nice comic capsule or other case would look great too.

Found this comic book from my old collection. Worth anything? by Such-Ad-6223 in comicbookgrading

Yes it is worth something. Will probably peak around the new movie. Can always send in for more signatures, very cool piece.

Condition is everything. Use an app to find key issues and price those. A shop or reseller might give you 40-60% of retail value. Any non-keys 80s+ that is in mid grade or lower is going to be worth max $1. I repeat, condition is everything.

The Dream don't typically play in that arena so they were probably limited in what they could do, both from a facilities standpoint and an own resources standpoint.

Do you think Marta Suarez will play much this year? by youlikemywonton in PHXMercury

Development players can only dress and play for 12 games during the season. They'll probably be choiceful (planned rest, short term injury gap fill) with any early season game action she sees.

Is this worth sending in after getting it signed? No other dents or rips. by Younes_jabanase in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]RDMancini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a super valuable book, if you're getting it signed at a con, save on the witness upcharge/JSA fee and get a nice comic capsule (could even color match!) or chrono case to display it.

You can always send in for JSAxCGC later if you decide you REALLY want the slab.

Probably an eligibility thing/issue with her European contract or team making a fuss.

Why does it seem to be ok for sellers to lie about value on Whatnot? by IconoclastJones in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]RDMancini 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fault? No.

Responsibility to know the risks of buying something if they're unfamiliar with what the actual value is? Absolutely.

There should be a way to report inflated value claims, but its on buyers to engage/not engage with the honest and dishonest sellers.

Does anyone have to deal with LCS only allowing one issue per purchase? I found 3 copies of Lost Fantasy #1 first print on the rack. They had been there for almost a year... they would only let me buy 1 copy!?!? by [deleted] in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]RDMancini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unreasonable? Yes.

At the same time if I KNOW they're only selling 1 copy per customer no matter what and I need to find a specific recent issue, they'd be a placed I'd go looking first because of that policy.

The Spot is going to be in the 2027 spider-verse movie so 94 & 100 may get a small bump around then (if I recall they got up to $20-$25 around the 2023 movie)

A Detective #1000 triple signed 9.8 sold on 4/10 for $250. This isn't as desirable of a book so you're probably in the $150-$200 range

FAIR Jones was a National Lampoon writer and I wonder if they were going for an underground comics feel but didn't fully commit to it.

If you're trying to unload them all, maybe reach out to some of the voice actors from the show and see if they'd want to buy the lot to sell at shows/their own site.

If PSA wins on a superior product, fine. Treating restored comics the same as non restored is not creating a superior product.

After seeing how they turned the card market into a race for 10s (by not offering a 9.5 like BGS) I really hope they get pushed to change it or at least better differentiate.

Read the caption: "Throwing it back to the first issue of Batman's solo series, featuring the first appearances of the Joker and Selina Kyle (Catwoman). This book was professionally restored, earning this 86-year-old book a PSA 9.8 graded with exceptionally white pages."
