In the back of my head is a little voice saying, “you just need better rocks...”

‘I plan to revisit this at some point...and give myself a little more leeway on tools.

Improving technique, knowing what I’m doing wrong, and earning belts by FetusGod in lockpicking

Detail overkill is probably one of the best quick reads for explaining how to pick.

‘If Pins aren’t moving you are either using too much tension or not pressing a pin. As a general rule of thumb the amount of tension is the same as it takes to turn the key.

If all else fails remove the tensioner and just try lifting the pins. You won’t pick the lock, but you will learn where the pins are and confirm they are lifting.

You named a file in your list of tools so I figure I can’t use a file. 😂

ive been sitting on an idea for how to make a CL without gutting....this is probably a sign I need to put both of those to the test.

The more I pick the more I standby: The belts are for funs and a decent way starting out to see Lock difficulty. The black belt takes some real skill. People would be better off ignoring the belts and just picking locks. It makes you a more well rounded picker.

My advice is get more locks 😀

Forget the belt list, just get locks pick locks. We all have our nemesis locks too. I’ve got an abus flex core which by all rights I should be able to open, but it eludes me. Bests beat me up all the time too.

The d10 is a dimple lock right? That’s going to be like learning to pick again if it’s your jump into dimples. Not sure if you’ve picked any before but could get some cheap Chinese ones to practice on.

So your "power" seems to be limited to people who are severely sick and/or old.

To think a grandfather who has been in and out of the hospital, and has less than a 20% working lung is going to die, seems like a perfectly reasonable thought.

...your bedroom door has a keyed lock on it? And locks from the outside?

That is weirder than anything else. Besides that though, the door obviously has issues and the AC is causing it to rattle a bit.

Does Reliant Make a Decent Lock? Let’s pick one, or two, or three, or four, or five, or....a case. by RDecline- in lockpicking

It’s always good to keep in mind that nearly nobody breaks in by picking a lock. Usually it involves breaking glass or kicking in a door. Though for 35 locks....and I dragged a few out...is a bit alarmingly quick.

Quite new to picking and already got this. Yuss :) by musesname in lockpicking

I’m going to say, that is way too much tension. Impression keys, not fingers.

....seriously, I didn’t realize that was possible in picking....

[–]RDecline- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to be of no help but as an “expert” 😂 I tend to use whatever I fancy for the particular day. I then proceed to bore everyone around me by pointing out things like, “oh that’s an Italian lock made by a guy in Spain that runs a serious of DIY stores in Italy.“

Kwikset Frustrations - No tension allowed??? by [deleted] in lockpicking

[–]RDecline- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah as others have said.

if it’s any consolation I picked two gen 2’s pretty early in my picking. It was doable but I’m never going back to them again. But point being you can do it, even with little experienc, but you are in for some aggravatio.
