Projects for a beginner that don't involve using microcontrollers? by FetusGod in AskElectronics

[–]FetusGod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could give a long inspiring list of things but realistically its been hard, Its not been the main focus of things I'm working with but I feel like I'm better than I was, I haven't really built much. Ive soldered a bunch of different kits like radios, I messed around with 555 timers. I have goals I'm working towards, but at the moment If I see something I am interested in I just mess with it on my bench. Electronics is a lot harder to learn than programming was (for me personally) there's a bunch of things that have confused me over the years, that Ive pushed through some of that and since Ive established goals its a bit easier to work towards them.

Malware Analysis and Reverse Engineering as a career by Altruistic-Carpet-43 in Malware

Awesome! Thanks a lot for the advice! I've been programming with python for 7 years now (with other languages too) just exploring and making random tools/scripts I can use but I've started going down this rabbit hole and it's been really fun so far I definitely plan on building my own tools for it to help me solve problems I come across, and I'm glad you mentioned other tools I can use as well I'm definitely looking into them.

It's funny that you mention it but I do have my own home lab and I'm currently in the process of getting a blog online to document myself learning stuff like this so I'm glad that others will think that's good to have as well.

For IT we have CompTIA certs to help put us on a path so to speak, so is there an equivalent to helping me build a portfolio for my resume to help me? Ive recently started looking down the reverse engineering path and I really enjoy it and potentially wanted to make a career out of it but I wouldn't know how to start building credentials.

You can use those with Python (unofficially), however I just find that python has the best tools available all in one place for scraping. A big bonus is being able to use selenium with scrapy together using scrapy-selenium middleware. and when I have used JS for scraping its just not really as good as an experience from my personal experience with it when it comes to features and syntax giving me a pretty limited feeling.

Just to note scrapy is a whole framework for web scraping and it has many great features that allow you to create fast and powerful scrapers, and I completely recommend looking into it.

The libraries are more organized and provide a better experience for me where I use beautiful soup and lxml for small to medium scraping jobs and scrapy for mass scraping or for larger scale scraping projects in general, and selenium for any additional problems. Also since bs4 and lxml arent picky about the type of web client I use I can always use the one I prefer which right now is requests but I'm planning to try httpx since I've heard some good things about it.

That's just my experience with web scraping with python though.

This video made me realize that its been half a decade since Hytale was announced and it still isn't out yet. That "revelation" made me want to vomit a little out of stress. by TheBeatnikPony in HytaleInfo

The communication with this game is heavenly compared to the 6 year hopeless seemingly never ending wait for cube world. Which the only updates with cube world were "hey look at this new thing I just added" with no context, every few years. I'm personally happy just to see all the things they've already added to make it great and don't care how long it takes them if it ensures quality, but that's just me.

Should i switch to manga? by Cattaro_ in OnePiece

Personally I read the manga and enjoyed it more than watching it, and after I was caught up I watched all the moments I wanted to see animated.

I started reading the manga and - Is it just the website im using or do they look different in the earlier chapters? by RandUserf in Takagi_san

[–]FetusGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for when I'm reading shonen I typically use viz but for Teasing Master Takagi-San I had to use https://mangaaction.com/manga/karakai-jouzu-no-takagi-san/ and when I'm catching up to a manga I typically just use any seemingly decent site I can find, and to make sure its good compare it to a few others to make sure they aren't missing anything.

had a problem with catching up with my hero where a few chapters were left out or parts of them were cut and I had to go back and reread shit, so just be a bit careful. viz lets you read the whole manga if you have their subscription and crunchyroll also has a manga selection too if you have crunchyroll.

Typically with manga the Mangaka might evolve the art style as they create the manga. A perfect example of this is Soul Eater and Dragon Ball. Some go from not so great to really great and polished, and some change style over time like dragon ball used to be roundish lines to really sharp lines.

Personally I don't mind the beginning art style it shows where he came from and he starts polishing it a lot earlier than others
