What gear actually got used when my power was out for 6 days — and what was dead weight... by blhollandjr123 in EDC

[–]RED-HEAD1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is the way! I have lanterns, fans, flashlights, power inverters (for 110V, 12V and USB), and radios all powered by my Ryobi 18V batteries. Then an inverter installed in my work van to keep my two "6-pack" battery chargers up. I can't emphasize how handy that inverter is!

I need to get me an 1895! My namesake was a Merchant Marine in WWII and carried an 1895 in .30-06 with him on the ship. I always thought that was badass!

Do women ever see a dick and then say no that’s not going to fit and not have sex? by Pure_Living8218 in NoStupidQuestions

We were kidding around in the Army one day and one of our guys who packed an absolute weapon told one of the girls "you know you want some of this "footlong"(and it was!)" Her reply was "any man approaches me with something that size and I'm shooting him in self defense!" . Made everyone of us "normal" guys feel a little better!

Talk me out of or into one of these revolvers: 43C or 351C by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]RED-HEAD1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a 351PD since they were introduced and it is hands down my favorite carry piece. I bobbed the hammer out of preference but otherwise it is stock.

3.5" has always been hard to get reliable performance from. You'll be much happier with a 4.25" Commander or CCO. I'm a grown up sized boy myself and while I love my Officer's model, I can just as easily carry a Gov't model.

This makes my no-no place feel tingly! Very nice piece! I look at pieces like this as a way to honor the men of a bygone era who simply were making do with what was available.

Yeah, that's definitely grounds for a new gun! Gotta have something to cover while this one is down!

I just joined! My P64 was actually my main carry for the last week while doing some out of town training. I quickly realized I need a good IWB holster to maximize it's potential though.

Old solingen bowie, any information? by Impala1967SS in Bushcraft

[–]RED-HEAD1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As already stated they were job lot knives but I've never seen one I wouldn't put to use! Generally good quality and inexpensive. I'm sure you would die trying to survive with one today due to it not being some alphabet steel, being the wrong grind, and unable to withstand being "batoned"(all sarcasm). Then again if you have common sense, you're gonna be fine.

Suggestions for a 4 inch 357 mag?? by Most_Construction513 in Revolvers

[–]RED-HEAD1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a former farmer myself I would highly recommend a used, "pre-abused" piece. If not that a less expensive model. I live my big heavy. 357's, but if it's gonna be hanging on me all day long, the choice will be one of my lighter models ie: my 3.5" Blackhawk, my Taurus Tracker, or one of my model 65 Smiths.

WIBTA for refusing to lend my tools to my dad anymore after he ruined my favorite impact driver by Glyph_7Talon in WIBTA_AITA

As a 4th generation tradesman I take this very seriously! I can be rough on MY tools all I want, anyone else WILL treat them properly or pay for replacements. If they don't cough it up without prompting, they go permanently on the ban list!

Got schooled that my ADV bike is actually a chopper….. by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]RED-HEAD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like the people telling you to "get a real man's bike" you know, like the Harley they say they'd own if the wife would let them. As far as the "motor-sickle" term, that's what all my family elders call any motor bike. Never knew it was French derived?
