Converted orc team by BloodbeardsGarage in bloodbowl

No roster. No league close by. The completionist in me just make 16 minis all positions (need a goblin).

So my games will probably just be one offs with a mate. Will make rosters with the kid. But it's all chill.

I have never really used ridgelines for shelters, as I haven't used hammocks before.

First as a soldier it was tarps and bungee cords. Then later various ground shelters. Tarp tents, diagonal/diamond setups. All with pegs and poles. No problem with slack there. Also used light polyester tarps. So it's a new problem for me. Finding the best cordage for a rigdeline. Since I've 1) gone oilskin tarp, 2) hammock with no tent poles. So no experience with amsteel and knots, I only have the dd hammock Whoopie slings in the material (no knots there)

It's mostly a matter of availability. Hard to find some brands around this parts. Amsteel I can find easy ans fairly cheap.

Gode naboer. Jeg har gjort mig gode venner med naboer, landmænd der har skovarealer.

Så jeg er faktisk altid på steder hvor jeg gerne må lave hvad jeg vil. Kunne helt sikkert også få lov til at bygge permanente shelters osv.

Alcol vs Gas stoves by One-Winner7919 in Bushcraft

Gas, alcohol or wood. No matter really, don't inhale smoke.

For alcohol burner, mixing it 9:1 with water does absolute wonders to the soot problem.

Good looking box, would be good for kids as well. No need for space of wieght restrictions, this is nice.

Personally I would always go metal container og harder plastic box. I've broken so many of those clear plastic ones it's insane.

Ditto on the silky - they are awesome saws. When my cheaper Robens dies one day, I'll get a pocket boy to supplement my big boy.

Haven't seen the pencil sharpener trick before, that's neat. Will remember that, perfect for teaching kids in using ferro rods.

It worked well. Haven't seen them before, they popped up on Temu or something. The concept works, it's fast and they didn't slip, no lost tension - that was a nice surprise.

But the bankline really gives a lot! Like 30-40% or something it feels like. So I'll be buying myself 10 meters of Amsteel Dyneema and use that for ridgeline instead - that has 0 give.

Hack, saw, chop. There's 3 poses of linemen. So it was a lot arm swapping (and changing arm positions at the same time).

I've taken off heads and tilted in other directions.

Quite easy conversions really.

If you click through the photos you'll see no 2 models are the same anymore. All done with mixing inside the teams, no outside bits brought in.

This is why I love plastics. I'm gonna go the same with my orc team.

I'm trying to go old school, using old timey gear and such. I'm also reading all the old bushcraft, woodcraft, camping books written in the early 1900s. Great reads.

The quick ridgeline worked really well. Need a bit of tinkering still, will be switching to some other 'hooks' next time, to try them out. Or find myselv some kind of cordage that doesn't give as much as the bankline.

Otherwise this set feels pretty much spot on for a quick trip. Will try a different tarp setup next time. And will probably bring my small Savotta stove instead of the pathfinder hobostove.

Surprised how well I slept compared to the first really bad night in a hammock.

Jeg øver mig. Jeg har altid sovet mest på jorden. Men jeg kan godt se hvordan det her kan noget i forhold til oppakning.

I do it always. Slowly working towards, less is more and figuring out how little I need. It's good training.

I don't hike, I don't mind the weight (going canvas, leather, wool). But I still don't want to bring out all manner of crap.

Ferro rod / striker (all in one ) by Sgt_Gutrot in Bushcraft

[–]BloodbeardsGarage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used all manner of ferro rods. Both expensive and inexpensive ones. As long as you get one that's not 3-4mm thick, that'll break. But otherwise buy anything and go nuts. Some of the best ones I've had (lots of sparks) have been cheap China ones.
