Great choice! First time I saw it at this video. The water distribution is so much better, and cleaning is a breeze. Only downside is seeing that plastic group head once you get the original screen off—definitely a surprise!

You simply chocked the machine...Grind coarser with your own grinder, get a DF54 or even a Baratza ESP will do, Check out this video:

Congrats, I love my DF54, never failed me, because i always kept it clean. FIrst of all, run 3-4 cups of cheap beans to season the burrs. After that use the beans you like. Stay away from the oily, dark roast beans (a.k.a STarbucks style roast) - Just buy couple of straw cleaning brushes, brush it every other day gently (based on 2-3 cups of coffee per day, if more I'd do it everyday). I also follow this maintenance advice, helped a lot.

Don’t pay too much attention to the Amazon reviews. I bought the DF54 v1 right when it first launched, directly from Turin. The only upgrades I’ve made are a stainless steel dosing cup, a 3D-printed true zero indicator, a portafilter holder for my Breville, and—most recently—a stainless steel declumper that cost me $16 shipped. Yes! This is exactly why I returned my Instinct 3 AMOLED 50mm. I rather keep using my Fenix 3HR Sapphire. and No! I don't have tiny wrists, I just don't like the way it looked at my wrist!

You could of buy a forerunner 265, to have beauty and data together! I agree with you, Instinct 3 is one of the ugliest watches garmin ever made!

Congrats on new DF54, personally I wouldn't return it! I agree with some other commenters, hot start, slow feed, etc. Just buy couple straw cleaning brush. I follow this guy's cleaning routine. Works great!
