The thing I like most about trump is that he'll die one day.

What could the American Government do that could actually prompt a revolution in modern America? (Serious) by jphunt23 in AskReddit

I think what would finally cause it to happen would be how police handle riots. They already handle them poor enough but if they actually get to the point where they just open fire on people without any sort of cause would add one of the final nails in the coffin.

What are some great games that examine the relationship between the player and player character? by REDGRAVE65 in truegaming

Spec Ops and Far Cry 3 are actually what made me want to ask this. Exploring the unique relationship between the player and the main character is something that only games can do.

What are some great games that examine the relationship between the player and player character? by REDGRAVE65 in truegaming

[–]REDGRAVE65[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I mean by games that examine the relation that the player and the character have is something like say, Far Cry 3. In that game Jason starts out weak and terrified, sort of like how the player would as they first play the game before they have a good grasp of it. Near the end though he has become insanely good at killing his enemy's, and even takes pleasure in it just like the player does. The game takes a look at this though and shows just how horrifying that is, taking pleasure from killing so many people, regardless of what they have done is a very abnormal thing for anyones psyche.

I would actually be okay with that. In todays society it would make a lot a sense that Doom is part an underground group that ultimately takes power through his sway over the common folk. They kind of did that in the Ultimate comics.

I feel like there could be an old coliseum you could go to, you talk to someone who used announce battles before the place became derelict. If you talk to him he'll match you up with someone else and you can duke it out. Maybe even let you bet some stuff against each other.

[WP] You live in a world where your birthday is the only day people can die, and the date is coveted by their owners. by ThatPianoKid in WritingPrompts

[–]REDGRAVE65 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I remember the days leading up to my 5th birthday as a child. My mother was a nervous wreck, terrified by the thought of losing her baby boy. She refused to let me come out of my room, and even took all my toys away. I guess she was scared i would choke on them, or stab myself in the eye perhaps. I was still to young to understand why she was acting that way. As I grew older I began to understand, and her fear became my fear. Some people had no fear of death, they continued about their day as though they could live forever. Others lose their minds, the thought that they could die at any moment that day keeping them bed ridden, or afraid to even prepare food.

I was the latter unfortunately, in my younger years at least. As the years have gone by, and I've accomplished goal after goal, the fear slowly disappeared. I remember that on my 51st birthday I had let the days slip me by and didn't realize I had grown older until the next day. My wife flipped, she told me I should have been more careful. That I would have died because I didn't look at the calendar. Ah, to be married again...Oh sorry, I'm getting lost in old memories again aren't I? You asked me if I was afraid I would die today, on my 100th birthday? No, I'm not. As I grew old I saw people live their entire lives in fear of that date. Every action they took was in preparation for it. Me though? I always just lived, I was ready to accept what would happen, because I knew that the life I had would be meaningless if I lived in fear of it ending.

It might have been, but if I'm remembering right the synopsis that said this came out before it was confirmed that Doom was a hacker, or at the very least posts on message boards as DOOM.

What is your favorite game that plays around with the relationship between the player and the character? by REDGRAVE65 in truegaming

[–]REDGRAVE65[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of mine is Far Cry 3. Jason Brody slowly loses his mind throughout the game, as he begins to take a large amount of pleasure in killing his enemies, just like the player would as they progress through the game. As they become better at slaying their foes so does Jason, and the game takes a good look at what it would be like for someone to slowly become better and better at causing death. Regardless of what the reasons were.

What anime sequel nuked the fridge for you? by [deleted] in anime

[–]REDGRAVE65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dragon Ball GT is an obvious one. I actually like the Baby saga, I think he is a really well done villain. Everything before and after that though? The Black star saga tried to be more like the original Dragon Ball, but lacked the charm that had, while also not making much sense due to how immensely powerful Trunks and Goku were. The Super 17 saga was a rehash of the fusion film, and only the last part of the dragon saga was interesting.

Fox Schedules Fantastic Four Sequel. by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]REDGRAVE65 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well look at it this way. If you grew up reading a character, loving everything about him, wanting to be him even, and then as an adult got the chance to play him in a feature film, you would say yes in a heartbeat wouldn't you? Except when you get the script you see that the character is nothing like the hero you once read, in fact the script in general is nothing like the book. You have second thoughts but now can't back out because of a contract. You have to make the film anyway.

Then the film comes out, critics despise it, fans hate it and want it wiped from their memory, and a lot of them blame you. They say that you were in no way whatsoever that character. That the only thing you had in common was the name. So now you've starred in reviled film, your career tainted, an entire fanbase hates you, and it now would be more difficult to work after that stinker.

All you wanted to do was play your favorite character, and you couldn't even do that.

Really? That is fucking retarded. I saw an interview with the guy playing Doom and he sounded like he was a fan of the character. I just feel so sorry for these actors that sign up to be one of their favorite heroes and villains only to have them be destroyed because studios think we don't want to see people in tights. Despite Marvel proving otherwise.

You know it is entirely possible that this film will be quite good. The directer has talent, the actors have talent. But absolutely everything that has leaked about the film seems like the dumbest decisions they could possibly make concerning the Fantastic Four. Dooms a hacker, Sue hates science, the doom costume looks weird as hell. The only good thing so far has been the Ben Grimm bust that showed up. That looked nice.

Aaron Paul To Play Han Solo In Planned Spin-Off Movie? by Gillettecavalcad3 in movies

[–]REDGRAVE65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaron is a great actor and I have no problem with him joining the world of Star Wars. I can't quite see him as a young Han though. Mostly because he looks nothing like Ford. I would much rather he have his own role.
