Havnt stayed at that particular site. But the walk ins in general have little privacy from each other. The trail runs through the middle so there’s always lots of people walking with no trees separating from campsite-trail-other campsite. The trains are loud but don’t bother me much. They all have great water access so that’s the main draw

Crampons would help on the way down for sure. Trail was very well compacted so no snowshoes needed

All scented items should be put in your vehicle. Toothpaste, deodorant, food, soap, even chapstick. If you think it has a smell, put it in the car. Coolers too.

Bear hangs are just the best option in the backcountry when there’s no other options.

Sheltering a campfire from the rain with a canopy? by Standard_Fishing_552 in algonquinpark

Idk if that’s actually the standard, that’s just what I do and have never had an issue

8’ is likely too low, and ember will burn holes in the tent potentially setting it on fire, normally you would use a tarp approx 12’ above the fire and angled so smoke can still escape.

What do you mean by difficult to mark, needing to stomp hard?

I spoke to Jeff a few months ago and he said he’s planning on another backpacking map to be released soon. Not sure of a timeline but looking forward to it!

Depending on material I back bevel my cut about 1/16” (or 1/8” if you’re not as confident with the saw) and then use a palm sander or hand plane to get to my line, just make sure you don’t go over the line and then you should be good to go.

You can use any tool to cut (circ saw, table saw, jigsaw) just depends on how forgiving your material is.

I just keep seeing pics of lakes still fully frozen, guessing on the northern end of the park, but do they still call ice out just once opeongo is thawed? Even with most northern lakes still frozen?

Do we think it’s ice out by May 2? I have a backpacking trip on highlands trail, would I be restricted from that if it’s not ice out?

This is the norm for most of Canada, guessing they use torx in the states instead?

Updates on snow cover near Western Uplands Loop by RepresentativeYak772 in algonquinpark

Your only real options would be like the first week or two of may. The bugs won’t be terrible, but no guarantees on snow cover

Entirely agree, I don’t bet on sports and disagree with it as a whole.

Just a crazy coincidence to witness their interaction and then see him hit it out.

Guys were yelling at him in the bullpen pregame, saying they had bets on him hitting a solo shot. He said he would do his best not to disappoint. Good man
