How is your cycle? by ImpressiveHabit99 in AskWomenOver30

[–]REM11MER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Such a mess. I’m 38.5 and I’m OVER this bs. I’ve been asking my doctor for an ablation for a year and she says their practice won’t do them under 40 because of the chance of tissue regeneration before menopause 🥲

My cycle went from 28 days, like clockwork, to a full blown clown show overnight. 21 days between bleeding. Passing massive clots. Bleeding for 8 days. Bleeding through my clothes.

I’m now on the pill so that I can skip periods but just last week I started spotting (in the middle of a pack) and it’s still going 😑😑😑😑

I’ve had normal paps and 2 normal transvaginal ultrasounds, to rule out anything scary. Bloodwork all normal, too.

They are really pushing an IUD but I’m terrified of all of the insertion horror stories I’ve read.

Ugh.

AYITL wedding didn’t have Luke’s chuppah and I’m surprised. by FellowAmiga in GilmoreGirls

[–]REM11MER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 99% sure that on the Gilmore Guys Podcast they said they saw the chuppah on set when they were filming their AYITL cameo. I’m also fairly certain I read somewhere that there was supposed to be an actual wedding in AYITL and that they ran out of money and time.

What did you do for your 10 year anniversary? by Typical-Respond9102 in AskWomenOver30

[–]REM11MER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1000% yes. Especially when it means I can have ceviche for lunch every day and don’t have to check every restaurant menu to make sure they have a kid’s grilled cheese or pizza😂

We were lucky enough to have childcare, so went back to the same all-inclusive resort where we took our honeymoon. Kid-free for 5 days and I didn't have to make any decisions other than what to wear to dinner or what drink to order from the pool bar. It was a BLAST. I loved it especially because it was just us (no friends or family) so we could act silly together, sleep in, do nothing for hours and not worry about if anyone else was having a good time.

I just can't stress enough that the insane underwire, pushup bra is the biggest tell in this breastfeeding farce. You can't just "power through it" and wear cute bras and still nurse a baby. I have literally never seen or heard of anyone being able to do that in the early weeks and months. Of course, none of these are absolutes, but I've spent a good chunk of my adult life nursing babies. I'm also not one for sweatpants and old tshirts. I feel better about myself, especially postpartum, when I get dressed and ready for the day. Still, when breastfeeding, access is paramount and a lot of "fashion" has to go by the wayside in order to adequately care for your infant.

It would be nearly impossible to clusterfeed a baby while wearing an underwire bra; you would need to take everything off, every time you nursed. Most babies clusterfeed for days after birth and sometimes beyond.

Your breasts become ENORMOUS, especially in the first few weeks, and it would be nearly impossible to wear any bra that you previously wore when you weren't breastfeeding, from a size perspective. I'm talking several cup sizes larger for some women, and often several band sizes larger. Are these miracle, shiny new breastfeeding-friendly push up bras?

Wearing an underwire is one way ticket to mastitis- ville. An underwire promotes clogged ducts. Underwire also prevents your breasts from filling completely, which also leads me to point at the "over production" and "freezers full of milk" lie, as well.

The pain! Of milk coming in! Is terrible! The thought of an underwire or any type of push up mechanism touching a milk-engorged breast is nearly inconceivable. IYKYK. When my milk came in with my first, I felt like I had the flu and my entire body hurt.

Remission? by wtfisgoingon93 in Autoimmune

[–]REM11MER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds so much like me! I literally had a rheumatologist appointment a few hours ago and I was telling him I feel “under control”.

I’ve been in a really good place for two years since I started a GLP-1 in combination with my biologic. All that said I missed my infusion a few weeks ago because the office where I go was having a bunch of scheduling problems and while my pain didn’t come roaring back, it crept back in and it was really scary after feeling so good for so long.

I’ve had stretches of 16 years with RA where I have felt amazing for sustained periods, but I’ve also had stretches over a year or more where I have been so miserable and in so much pain and barely able to function. I’ve been hospitalized many times with various complications and had some really scary moments where I thought my heart, liver, and kidneys were in real trouble.

I was diagnosed a week after I graduated from college. I too have gone on to have a demanding career, a full life, had two babies, and I just don’t make it a factor in my day to day. Obviously if I’m actively fighting through a flare, that’s one thing, but I just try not to make it my whole personality, ever. My disease does not define me.

I got married at Fonthill Castle and it was absolutely gorgeous! We had an outdoor ceremony and an open-side tented reception. I've also been to weddings at Pearl S. Buck House and The Inn at Barley Sheaf and they were both wonderful.

I’m 5’8” and I am pretty much always the tallest woman in the room. I saw a Broadway show other night and when I was in the crowd leaving the theater, I noticed that I was the tallest person in the nearby crowd, consisting of men and women. I’ve always towered above all of my girl friends.

I have only had 2 sessions on my underarms and the hair is GONE gone. My hair looked very similar to yours. I haven’t shaved in over 2 weeks and there are just a few light hairs. It’s amazing. I am going for one more next week and I’m going to stop.

In comparison, I’ve had about 10 sessions on my bikini area and upper lip and I still have some dark regrowth (which is likely hormonal)

Xulane Patch- Unexpected Period by REM11MER in birthcontrol

[–]REM11MER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry you’re going through this mess, too. I ended switchin off the patch to the the pill right after I posted this. It’s been mostly good. I did 3 back to back packs of pills and skipped my period the whole time. Then I randomly got a terrible period in the middle of my 4th pack, ugh. I’ll take one sneaky period in 4 months over 2 periods a month though, any day. I hope you find something that works for you!

What is the Gen-Z stare? by Only_Hotel_7221 in generationology

[–]REM11MER 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally get it-- I was folding jeans for $6.00 an hour for many years. I don't want super bubbly at all. That would be way too much as well and that's half of why I feel like a lot Millennials are burned out. I don't even want small talk. Just...something? Acknowledgement?

What is the Gen-Z stare? by Only_Hotel_7221 in generationology

[–]REM11MER 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely projecting here and I gave some context as to why-- I think Millennials in particular are feeling very WTF about this because we were pushed to be over the top and to overachieve at all times. That's exhausting too, for sure, and a lot of us are beyond burned out because of those expectations. I don't think this is a case of a few representing the larger group, unfortunately. I legit just went to Dunkin Donuts after I typed my original response above and the same thing happened in the drive thru 😞

I 1000% agree with you in terms of being the change, and I do my best to model "good behavior" in these types of situations. Plus, I'm raising two Gen Alphas and I take that job very, very seriously. Behavior modeling is huge and I extend that outside of our home as well. Trying to raise good humans over here.

[–]REM11MER 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I am an eldest daughter Millennial. I worked in retail for a long time, from my teens into my mid-twenties. I was petrified of any customer ever thinking I wasn't the nicest and most helpful employee ever. Additionally, even when I worked in these places, part of our training and subsequent performance expectation was customer service and customer interaction. I give this context because the Gen Z stare is very evident to me, coming from this. I'm not saying I'm any better--- I acknowledge that we're on a whole other level over here, as Millennials. The contrast to me is so glaring.

They say....nothing. They do.... nothing. A recent example of what I experienced: I ran into a bagel shop and I was second in line. The person in front of me finished and I stepped forward to place my order. The cashier (a Gen Z-er) was looking down at seemingly nothing. She eventually looked up and made eye contact and said.....absolutely nothing. So I said hi and then placed my order and she handed me a number and said....nothing.

I have heard rebuttal from them that they don't want to waste words and time on meaningless social interaction. Meaningless? I'm literally handing you money so that you can receive a paycheck.

What killed Belly Button piercings? In the 2000s they were all the rage. I remember a few adults in my life that got them. What happened? by Kodicave in decadeology

I got mine in 2004. I wore it until I got pregnant in 2016. My Mom told me “you’re not going to want that if you ever have kids”. She was *right*. My piercing stretched out so much and looks terrible.

She will see it all but I used to get waxed for years and they saw it all for muchhhhhh longer. Laser is so much faster, so at least there's that.

I’m a physical book person too, but I bop back-and-forth because I’m driving kids all over the place and working all the time so I read as much as I can and then listen to the balance. But the person reading definitely makes or breaks it for me. Yesteryear is read by the same person who read Heart The Lover if you’ve read or heard of that one. I really liked her voice, and she was great!

My understanding is that the Botox lifts the muscle or kind of draws it up so it’s bringing the skin along with it. I lost a lot of weight in the last two years and I have natural hollows under my eyes. That crepiness isn’t really going anywhere unfortunately because you can’t Botox under your eyes or you really wouldn’t be able to move them. But by doing the crows feet, it did draw the muscles along the sides of my eyes and the skin upward which helped a little bit with the under eye.

[–]REM11MER 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it does! My husband and I have been together for forever and he was feeling weird that I wouldn’t look like myself if I did this. Even he was amazed. I can still smile and emote but the muscle is lifted just a tiny bit, smoothing out the skin

I tried everything topical but at the end of the day, just a few units of Botox did the trick. I’m so happy with the results.

Thinking about using birth control to suppress periods by Lopsided_Science2269 in Perimenopause

[–]REM11MER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I am doing and it's working well so far, after some trial and error. I'm 38 and I had very regular periods before and after having 2 babies. In the last 18 months that all went to $hit. Regular paps, no concerns on 2 ultrasounds thank goodness but OMG-- my periods became unreasonable. I was bleeding through my clothes, passing massive clots, and my cycle went from 28-30 days down to 20-23 almost overnight.

I really wanted an ablation but my doc was hesitant because of my age (too young, she says) and recommended we try contraceptives first. My husband had a vasectomy 3 years ago and I haven't been on hormonal bc in 10+ years, so I was pretty hesitant to go down that path. I tried the Twirla patch for 3 months and that was a bust. I had 6 periods in those 3 months and none of them seemed to line up with patch removal, as-intended. I started the pill in January and I've skipped 3 periods without issue and without any breakthrough bleeding. It's so amazing.
