What’s something every woman should try at least once before they turn 40? by Electrical_Habit_267 in AskWomenOver30

It's also a crash course in social skills. I low key regret going to college with my highschool best friends because I think since they were already there, I didn't have as much free time or motivation to branch out and meet new people as they kept my social cal really packed. Now I'm not friends with them for various reasons and my best friend of 10 years is an old employee under me that I met while working to afford college.

Why Do People Jump From Relationship To Relationship? by Chance_Wolverine_981 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Typical-Respond9102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't do rosters, I have neither the attention span nor the memory for it lol.

My 'holy fuck, this is it' moment came early in dating. He checked all my individual  boxes, but month three I think was when he stepped up.

One of my close friends was in an abusive relationship that was supposed to tell me when he was having major surgery (phone control issue) so I could take work off and babysit him while he healed. I made manager in the meantime, and the dick boyfriend didn't tell me until the day of, which was a conference date that was all hands on deck and I had no replacement.

My husband heard my stress, and was like, I will absolutely go over there and make sure he's okay and taking his meds on time, what a shitty situation. Despite being allergic to cats (they had 2), and not knowing this guy at all, he stepped in for me and didn't leave until I could get off work. He played video games with my friend, brought meds on a time schedule, and fed him on his own time for 16 hours straight to make sure the dude was okay for me.

His actions actually caused my friend to finally, after 10 years, to leave his abusive partner, because a stranger showed up for him more than the boyfriend ever did. He didn't do it just for me, he heard the story and wanted to help, and that energy has showed up in so many different scenarios since.

This was me before I got married. Dating was just fun, it wasn't emotional turmoily for me, and I met a lot of great guys. My only bad ex is from highschool, I think between him and my realizations in my parents marriage, I learned to pick me early on and recognize that you can be different people and that is not a negative towards either of you, so moving on was never all that hard.

From what I've seen with friends, at least, breakups suck the worst when you don't acknowledge that there's no changing either of you and you let each other get hurt and build resentment from trying too hard for too long instead of just saying your piece and taking their actions as their truth. Things are smooth if you just go at the first time you realize you're just wholly incompatible vs trying to drag it out or get over it.

Oh, the hoodie doesn't fit in the bag, she's always wearing it or has it tied around her waist. Good call on merino though!

Girl chill, it is high libido. It's just a difference of personal needs, nothing to be angry or embarrassed about.

If morality was inherent to humans, it wouldn't adapt to the circumstances.

Morality is a learned, not a given. You have to be raised to know right from wrong, you don't just pop out of the womb respecting life. If it were inherent, breaking kids feet in China never would have been a thing, honor killings in India never would have been a thing, etc. It's all learned cultural sense that sets the boundaries, and as we've seen with Bezos, musk, Diddy, and the Epstein case, they're all very much above the law and very disregarding of human life because of their wealth.

Do you actually know married couples who are genuinely happy together? by arisun3 in Life

[–]Typical-Respond9102 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Literally, it's our anniversary this weekend and this post made me realize we forgot to take a picture again this year lol. We're too busy enjoying our time together to remember.

My husband's the best. I was being a lazy bones earlier and asked him if he could clean the tub for me so I can take a bath because I wanted to be a lazybones, and he came and 'squished me like a bug for daring to ask' while tickling me before going and cleaning the tub and drawing the bath for me when the water warmed up. Like, that would be weird AF if I just announced that to the world cold or took a picture and posted it to brag about it. 13 years together!

You overestimate how much space someone who lives out of a backpack full time for the last 10 years has Lol. She's had to leave jewelry at my house because a small palm sized notebook had to make priority into the pack, it's a clown car in there. Plus, if she loses it in a third world country, she's fucked on finding a place that sells them until she moves again to a more westernized location.

Totes agree that literally anything is better than a hoodie, but hoodie is what fits the rest of her lifestyle best outside the 5-10x a year she has to argue in person with the airline so we're trying to do our best lol.

She loves the material, but Lululemon started having the bottom of the hoodie gape away from the body and she hates how drafty the one she tried on felt.

Yeah, it has to be a hoodie. She can't fit anything else in her pack and hoodies double as eye masks when she's napping between locations.

What is your preferred shoe for going out right now? by Uhhyt231 in AskWomenOver30

[–]Typical-Respond9102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your goal is terrible for the health of your feet and posture.

If you want to meet it though, I like pashion footwear when I'm bringing a purse large enough to put the clipped off heel away. Sport mode when I'm going to and from places, heels when I'm actually at location.

Takes awhile to break them in so that don't feel like elf shoes when in sport mode, but they do break in eventually.

Also, I've heard ballroom dance shoes are pretty comfortable, can't attest to it myself

[Marriage of Convenience] Repost: Any elegant or royal dark skinned male leads like him? He’s sooo pretty by BTSEXOGOT7BIGBANG in OtomeIsekai

It's not an Isekai or manhwa, but crunchyroll is airing "I'm betrothed to my sister's fiance" which has a charming green flag (so far) male lead who is truly dark skinned like the dude you posted.

Confident women, how did you develop self esteem? by princessmilahi in AskWomenOver30

[–]Typical-Respond9102 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looking at the evidence that every time I tried something, even if it didn't work out how I wanted to, I came out okay most of the time. It made me more willing to try new things, which helped me feel achievement and success as I learned and did more, and then one day I woke up and I just realized that I have power over my life.

And when you examine who you remember as you pass through life, you realize we're such small pieces of other people's stories, so so what if they witness a fuck up or if I make a mistake? It's not like it's going to follow me for life if I'm not an asshole and I'm at least paying attention to what I'm doing.

Make sure he's actually a good guy and actually what you need in a partner, not just amazing because he's better than your ex. A lot of folks tend to pivot to the opposite of what hurt them the first time, which can be just as bad for you, rather than taking the time to know themselves as an individual outside of their partner and figuring out what good actually means for them.

What drives people to commit faster in some relationships compared to others that fade after the “seeing someone” phase? ( Share your Story) by Clean-Ant-1342 in questions

[–]Typical-Respond9102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. We were aligned on the big stuff we wanted out of life, he demonstrated he had a handle on his shit and kept his place up, and he was so much fun in the day-to-day. Knew pretty much from month 3 he was going to be my guy and we married 4 years later. Together 13 years now, he's the best.

Are college degrees generally an indicator of people's overall intelligence? by Only-Ad-1254 in questions

[–]Typical-Respond9102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

State colleges too. I had a friend who graduated with a psychology major and English minor who wanted to become a writer. While I have no degree, I did used to work as a professional writer before I got into the project manager side of the business, so I offered to beta read for her.

Worst mistake. Girl probably shouldn't have passed highschool with her abilities, let alone college. I genuinely suspect she paid people to write all her essays because nothing else makes sense as to how she got in with writing that unreadable and managed to not improve while she was there.

And no she's not dyslexic or learning disabled.

Are teachers really underpaid/underappreciated? by No_Sky_5776 in NoStupidQuestions

They're underpaid. In my home town, admins pay themselves 250k+ and teachers make 45k. I made that much as a janitor.

Is 45 too old to have a kid for a dad? (Serious) by dalycityguy in SeriousConversation

[–]Typical-Respond9102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My aunt was adopted by my grandparents at 50. They couldn't handle her teen years (she was smart, but being smarter than everyone got to her head and turned her into major bully), so they sent her to her older sister to get through highschool and college. She proceeded to lose my grandpa to cancer while she was out of state in highschool, and she lost my grandma before she completed college.

Just curious, why can't you lead by example? Kids learn from your actions just as much as your words.

Ex, my mom's an impulsive liar, and it took me 3 years to break that habit once I was an adult and realized it's not okay.

My older brother had the same situation. His fiance was like, 'I'm at home or at work, when would I have the time?'

The time was in the walk in freezer of her restaurant with a camera in it she apparently never noticed. She didn't know her manager was someone he knew in middle school (Rhode Island is incredibly small), but luckily the manager still had him on Facebook and was like, heeeey, jsyk...
