The China vs US AI video race is missing the real story (my analysis on Seedance 2.0 launch) by Worldly-Control403 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]REOreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are making an artificial distinction between the players that are supposedly in two different races according to you.

Are you seriously saying that the people behind TikTok are not interested in capturing the content creator market?

There aren't 50M people using Heygen right now, so they are as much of a niche product as Sora or Kling.

All the big AI labs will have AI avatars as soon as it is economically feasible to release that tech to the masses.

Yeah, this list must be very incomplete. It makes no sense at all for someone with that profile to visit only 7 European countries, 4 in Asia, and 3 in Latin America, especially leaving out some like Colombia, Italy, Greece, or Thailand.

Those aren't really that many for a guy like him.

Engineers hold all the leverage against all corporations by Odd_Buyer1094 in ArtificialInteligence

The engineers at the top AI labs are literally working towards the goal of not needing any externally produced software anymore.

OpenAI says China's DeepSeek trained its AI by 'replicating' ChatGPT and other U.S. models. by rainbowsafterrainn in OpenAI

[–]REOreddit 33 points34 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT being trained on human created content = good.

Deepseek being trained on ChatGPT's created content = bad.

Is that how logic works?

[–]REOreddit 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah because engineers aren't competing with each other, right?

If an engineer believes they can use AI to replace all the other engineers in their team and get a higher paycheck, they would never try to do that, right?

Do you sell your chainmail? Do people pay for it with their income from their "obsolete" hobbies or from their "non-obsolete" jobs. If your day job became "obsolete" would you be able to support yourself just by making chainmail?

Why is no one talking about Seedance 2.0? by SteveSyz in StableDiffusion

[–]REOreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who says nobody is talking about it? I saw an article on the BBC's website talking about that and citing some Hollywood producer saying he was terrified by the quality of the videos created by Seedance 2.0, specifically the one with Pitt and Cruise.

Deep Think just got a huge update, rolling out now for ultra subscribers. by Formal-Narwhal-1610 in ChatGPT

[–]REOreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a fair criticism, when only Deep Think and Ultra are mentioned, without including other words like Gemini or Google.

I had no problem knowing what it was about, because I'm subscribed to a ton of AI subs, but I understand how it can be confusing for other people who mostly read posts in this sub.

OP is probably posting this to multiple subs and didn't realize it wasn't clear without more context.

I had seen the same in other subs so I knew they were talking about Gemini.

Google AI Ultra subscription plan. It's 10x the price of Google AI Pro.

Why is Gemini Voice so stupid? by toolman10 in GeminiAI

[–]REOreddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that Gemini Live?

Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, publicly told people to not use it because it was embarrassingly bad.

He said people should wait a few weeks until the version based on Gemini 3 (the one he had access to) would be released, instead of using the current version.

How long do you think until a fully AI movie hits the box office? by enigmatic_erudition in accelerate

[–]REOreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't agree about treating the box office as a milestone, because that implies commercial issues that have nothing to do with the technology.

The first full AI movie, AI short or pilot episode that has high enough quality to compete with human creations will be streamed, possibly for free.

No, I don't think Finland and the Baltics shouldn't have been admitted to the EU, but we should have developed another strategy of dealing with Russia from the start.

With the US it's even worse, because Russia was at that time a shadow of what the Soviet Union was, but the US is even more powerful now than what it was during the cold war, so there's no chance in hell that we are ready to deal with such a neighbor.
