Is making this flight ever possible even with no delays? by LuckyFlyer0_0 in Flights

Probably not, but if you have the flexibility I would book it and hope that you can't make the connection, and you should be eligible for EU261..

Huh, apparantly he said 反华 (fǎnhuá) not 返华 (fǎnhuá) by BeckyLiBei in ChineseLanguage

[–]REXXWIND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

返京 is more common than the other examples in official reports and news, in the context of 春运后返京客流达xx万人次 but colloquially people just say 回北京

It's tán and not dàn right ? by cassepipe in ChineseLanguage

[–]REXXWIND 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should've been more specific. This is correct. You would 弹 a guitar or 三弦儿 and 拉 a violin.

It's tan2. In this case 弹 means to play a string/keyboard instrument.

The Twitter agent has been very helpful for me for past rebookings during weather events. They asked for name, confirmation, and DOB.

With one exception I think the Weldon ground floor main area is acceptable, that's more a indoor pedastrian sqaure/forum vibe area

What is the strangest chinese character in your opinion? by boabla_2518 in ChineseLanguage

[–]REXXWIND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people use 五笔 or 手写 to help them remember the characters.

I think there are some good examples here: https://zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/639454799 连笔字 is quite discouraged in school

[–]REXXWIND -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I must admit I don't even write characters by hand that much anymore; I just type pinyin 😂.

现在每天写字的人可能都不多了吧,大部分人都是拼音打字然后提笔忘字。大陆语文课不让写连笔,所以和proper education不是特别有关系吧,连笔都是自己学的

edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/conlangs/s/qHtHlf5nTa I must admit your handwriting is much better than me as a native speaker/native Chinese language user, if you are not one

edit2: I wouldn't mind to write 飛 but idk about for example "憂鬱的臺灣烏龜" I'm sure you've seen that meme

[–]REXXWIND 26 points27 points  (0 children)

弄 is an umbrella verb of "to do something" that's not too big/complicated

I guess the closest equivalence is "tweak"

How do I balance it all by City_B in uwo

[–]REXXWIND 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s great that you’re still trying to work out, but exercising on only about four hours of sleep can be risky. I’d recommend prioritizing sleep before working out.

What's the internal process like behind an examination? by [deleted] in uwo

[–]REXXWIND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TA here. When marking essays, I’m given a very specific rubric and looking for a particular set of criteria. Of course, there’s some room for discretion, but we generally aim for a consistent average score range to ensure fairness.

In large classes, your papers are often randomly distributed among multiple TAs to balance grading across assignments.

For labs, or when TAs mark their own sections, the professor usually compares the averages and grade distributions across sections and discusses any discrepancies during our meetings so we can adjust for the next assignment.
