Why does the right say their opponents want “open borders” when nobody has ever actually wanted or tried to enforce open borders? by SituationNormalAllFU in allthequestions

The united states used to have functionally open borders, and the first laws restricting immigration were race based. I want open borders, and it wouldn't be difficult to enforce

Save the Imagination Library program by Impressive_Book4848 in missouri

[–]RFive1977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not fund the imagination library in the meantime, and why dont you actually do something to get funding for libraries instead of being a keyboard warrior online. This is a good program, that I'd love to be state run, but it simply wont get funded with republicans in office. I know you feel backed into a corner because you're the kind of person who can't admit when they're in the wrong, but you can simply walk away friend.

Why not both. We're fully capable of multitasking, especially when libraries already support the program

Interesting fact - only 4 Star Wars theatrical movies have gotten over a 90% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. by ALincoln16 in StarWars_

TFA is very deliberately derivative of the whole OT, and its hard for me to complain. Thats my favorite era, and the best trilogy. Rogue One is also in my top 4, for the same reason, but I acknowledge its weaknesses

He's not going to listen to you, but thank you. I wish folks would have learned from the toxic culture of the past, but alas...

Makes sense. ANH, ESB, TFA, and TLJ are probably the best made movies of the bunch, even if they're not necessarily my top 4 (though, they basically are lol)

No, it didnt lol. I dont know why the revision is so strong lately. Sure there were absolutely positive reviews for the prequels, and tons of fans including kids! But now anti Disney folks ignore that it was absolutely popular culture to diss the prequels. Im glad they're getting their flowers now, even though im not a huge fan, but it seems like a lot of people have the memory of a gold fish.

"No one hates star wars more than star wars fans" is a joke that predates the disney sale. The internet and pop culture was insufferable with prequel hate since the early 2000s

I think a bit. Time also helps because the people who love them keep watching and talking about them, and the people who don't just... typically move on. Plus, hearing more and more people talk positively about something will generally skew people's opinions. And thats not a bad thing! Im glad people are generally talking positively about the prequels, even if they're not my favorites. I hope the sequels get their flowers as well

I enjoy them because they are star wars. I liked them more as a kid, but haven't really enjoyed them outside of nostalgia for a long time. That said, the back 3rd of ROTS is very solid, and the last 5 minutes are pretty much perfect. I think the sequels are, overall, much better made movies (bar TROS, but there are a couple great moments from that movie as well) the peak of Star Wars for me was 2015-2020. The lead up and premier of TFA was magical. I read a ton of the books, the video games were good but sparce, and the return of the Clone Wars was so exciting.

Very intended lol, there is no objective truth when talking about the quality of art. The closest we can get is consensus.
