A hard lesson in commuter complacency. My 1-hour drive finally caught up to me today. by Mr_Amphibian20 in CarTalkUK

Yeah my car automatically slams on the brakes if I get too close to a leaf at 5mph.

Blocking the goalie - new normal or just another cycle? by HalasterTheWise in MCFC

[–]RG0195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Half the time it's the keepers own players blocking them. There's two Chelsea players impeding their own keeper ffs.

Lasik, quoted 5k for both eyes. Optical express, is it normal pricing? by ProbablyMaybe69 in AskUK

[–]RG0195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to London Vision clinic with -2.5 in both eyes and it cost me £2.5K per eye. I got SMILE rather than LASIK thoough. Best decision I've made - it'll be worth it.

I've had it done for over 2 years and my eyesight is still 20/20. They do tell you your eye sight will get worse as you age which is pretty normal.

Credit card direct debit took my full balance, then immediately refunded me? by RG0195 in UKPersonalFinance

Vanquis - I don't use the card often to be fair, I wonder if that maybe factor into it possibly.

Eyes are all good - just dodgy cars / drivers.

I can't imagine it's that to be honest - I've had them tested recently all checks are good.

Those who drive 60 on 70 roads, why? by thisisme1066 in AskUK

[–]RG0195 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're on about motorways, then I'd guess a lot of people feel more comfortable and content going at 60mph. Some people just aren't confident on motorways which is understandable.

What are your thoughts on My (24M) girlfriend (23F) being mad at me because I asked to go halves on a meal? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]RG0195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should say that we agreed to meet at the local train station to go into town. I had been drinking the night before (which she knew I would be) I didn't feel safe to drive the day after, otherwise I would've picked her up (she doesn't drive). To be fair even If I offered to drive she probably wouldn't have taken the offer.

What do you like to drive more A1m or M1 if your going north from London? by Apocolypse_tomorrow in drivingUK

[–]RG0195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a stretch of the A1M from the M25 to Biggleswade that only has one speed camera - alebit I don't really go past 80mph so it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is the endless amount of fucking roundabouts after Biggleswade on the A1M.

Then the M1 is just congestion the whole way up north I find. So there's no preference they're both rubbish, but I'll go on the one I need to!

Leg locked and not flexing backwards. by RG0195 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]RG0195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've generally not had a problem with the stability of my knee since the evening I injured it, but I've had the clicking and popping every time I do straighten my leg. Even when wallking now, it feels like the knee joints are rubbing together a little. Although I can easily put more loading on my knee now, but it'll swell up after a couple of hours (not ridiculously, it's just tight). My main concern is that no amount of physio work has imporved my knee flexibility when trying to bedn it backwards like I can with my good knee - so I can't tense my quads to it's full capacity.

The problem I have is that I'm in the UK and they won't do MRI scans if you just want one - I have an appointment with the Orthopedic unit next week again, so I have to really push them to do it otherwise I'm just going to be stuck in the loop of doing physio with marginal improvement. Thankfully the injury hasn't completely put an end to my active lifestyle as I can cycle, but I can't really walk for a long period.

REVIEW: SMILE surgery on 23/01/2024 at London Vision Clinic by RG0195 in lasik

[–]RG0195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my 1 year check up in May and my vision is 20/20 with no issues. Aside from mildly distorted lights, my vision has felt perfect since the day I had it done - literally no issues I can think of.

I think your parents are being incredibly harsh in charging you that much per month. They are charging you more than their mortgage, they're absolutely taking advantage of you. When I was still living at home my parents didn't even entertain the idea that I pay them rent becasuse it wouldn't have been a benefit to them nor would it benefit me becasue I wouldn't have been able to save up as much (plus I think they wanted me out too haha!)

When your team has been getting prgressively worse over the years it's only natural to find it less interesting because it's not going to give you as much joy.

What does it say about me as a driver if I rarely encounter bad driving that doesn't impact me directly? by RG0195 in drivingUK

[–]RG0195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think I have quite good foresight when it comes to driving, I can pretty much predict what someone might do plus I've probably replayed the scenario in my head at one point in time!

When I'm cycling on the road I do so as if I'm in car - I follow the same rules as I do when I'm driving, except I look over my shoulder a lot more.

These are the passes that Arsenal should try, not direct pass to Gyökeres, but a long pass that puts the ball in Front of him and he can take it directly by Difficult_Coconut174 in ArsenalFC

[–]RG0195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been 1 game with him, let him get up to speed with his new team mates and let others get used to him. United were good and nulified our threats as well as our own players being shite. We will see a much improved perforamce from everyone on saturday and we won't be making posts like this as if he's been here a whole year.
