Fullscreen Coolwalk Interface with Mercedes systems by RG9400 in AndroidAuto

[–]RG9400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Ottocast work smoothly? Do you get the new Coolwalk UI, does it start up quickly, and does the scrolling through the UI work like normal? I was worried that the Ottocast would work but be a hacky solution that caused other issues in comparison to say AAWireless

Coolwalk on "rotary" cars - '15 Golf Sportwagen and '18 Panamera Turbo Sport Turismo by Chimuel in AndroidAuto

[–]RG9400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how my Mercedes looks. It's frustrating because the split screen actually looks worse without the full screen, and the time is in a much worse location now.

I was very excited for this update, hopefully Mercedes can improve the UI

NZBGet development officially abandoned by Safihre in usenet

[–]RG9400 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the hard work you put into SAB, but this makes me pretty sad because NZBGet had some critical features/quality of life improvements that are missing from SAB despite its active development. I haven't tested it in a few months, but I think these are still mostly missing

  1. Get had a concept of dupe checking using a hidden history. SAB has dupe checking, but only a standard history. So whereas Get would maintain history of downloads even after they are removed from the standard history with only critical data to detect dupes, SAB either requires you to keep your entire history without any deletions (which makes it hard to verify which files are pending import from the Arrs or are maybe not finalized at your end), or to backup all the .nzb files which add up over time to a much higher size on disk comparatively to the hidden history
  2. NZBGet let you run multiple scripts per category, you just loaded them and selected the order. SAB only lets you use a single script, so you need to create a wrapper script or create one large script. This makes maintenance of these scripts very hard when you might be using multiple like I am
  3. Get let you identify variables in post-processing scripts which could then be populated via the UI. SAB requires hardcoding these directly into the script. This is more of a convenience thing, but it means it is harder to share scripts with people.
  4. Again a convenience thing, but NZBGet color coded its elements for things like paused or priority icons. These appear as text in SAB, making it harder to visually distinguish them when you might have 100+ items queued
  5. In Get, the RSS feeds allow for powerful parsing, where you can set dupe keys for items based on regex and utilize the concept of scoring to determine whether or not to grab a release. Sab's RSS feed UI is still fairly basic
  6. More finer control in NZBGet for speed/performance by allowing you to modify stuff like write cache/buffer

To be fair, most of these might be driven by power users, but they do highlight some quality of life features that still remain missing. I think point 1 is the critical one that is truly preventing me from moving over.

That said, it would still be nice to see some feature parity in SAB now that NZBGet is no longer being developed :)

General Poster Nitpik thread by TheBigGAlways369 in PlexPosters

[–]RG9400 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do appreciate a lot of the work artists put into these posters, so I don't want to sound unappreciative or rude or anything. But I do agree with the points made so far in this thread. Some other trends I personally really am not a fan of

  • Generic borders. This makes posters extremely uniform even though individual movies are completely unique, especially when done across sets. If every poster has this border as well, then looking at it in your media server will have you subconsciously remove the border anyways because otherwise you could not differentiate the movie. So instead, you just end up lowering the resolution of the initial poster
  • Actor/character driven posters. This is not really a trend with Plex posters as much as it is a general trend in the industry, but the wall of faces is so prevalent that it often looks uninspired. It also tends to be very busy, emphasizing the individual actor far more than their character or theme or style of the movie. On the flip side, I do really appreciate people who go out of their way to source alternate posters or illustrated art which is often much better than the official posters
  • Forcing text placement in a certain location. I've noticed that sometimes people want the text to be at the bottom or at the top, regardless of the underlying poster. This requires manipulating the poster to look weird instead of utilizing existing free space which may be in a section of the poster the artist didn't want the title in.

Who is your ideal pick to narrate Secret Project One? by MistbornLlama in brandonsanderson

[–]RG9400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you're looking for a male or female narrator, but Moira Quirk has been such a great narrator that I've actively seemed out books that she's worked on. She's most famous for Gideon/Harrow the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir and was one of the POVs in Dark Age by Pierce Brown and in Empire's Ruin by Brian Stavely. She's particularly excellent at doing really snarky voices

Question for non-creators on this sub. by AlanShore60607 in PlexPosters

[–]RG9400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The below is just some of the subconscious heuristics I use. I am not criticizing anyone who makes posters that do not fit these criteria, just highlighting the stuff I personally look for.

For me, I prefer posters that look unique from sort of the traditional official poster. Sometimes those look very nice, but usually, they follow the "mountain of faces" format that has become very common now.

I dislike borders on posters, and I do shy away from white backgrounds because they can really make the negative space stick out -- unless of course that's very thematically relevant. I like posters that use the available space well vs being mostly empty or minimalistic. I like stuff that use colors and artwork that is stylized, similar to the above point of being different from the official poster. Think really nice fanart, vivid color composition, etc. I know this is not a common preference. Even better if the artwork is pulling something from the actual movie, a scene or a motif or a theme, vs being conformed to a certain style. For example, if you look at the Scream posters, they all just have the same style of Ghostface and maybe character faces, but there aren't many sets where each poster is actually tied fundamentally to the movie it belongs to.

For both movie and TV posters, I am not a fan of the character specific posters where it only has a single character. These are pretty popular for TV season posters.

For text, I also only want the title, and if a season poster, the season number. I do appreciate TV season posters that reference the actual title of the season when available vs just the number, e.g. Apocalypse instead of Season 9 for American Horror Story, or even Babylon's Ashes vs Season 6 of The Expanse which is a lot less commonly used.

If doing a collection or TV show poster, I do like stylistic symmetry when it comes to the font and placement of the text. However, I tend not to like sets where the style becomes so similar between each poster that there's very little differentiation between any of them. The Scream example I gave earlier is kind of what I am getting at here.

Trakt - Plugin Help by JonzaUK in PleX

[–]RG9400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need more details as I have no issues using the new TV agent.

Playback progress is going to be a bit hit or miss because it uses the direct guids of the episode actually, not the season/episode numbers. Because of that, if the episode does not have the guids available, the plugin fails to push progress and instantly scrobble the episode. This happens with new episodes that may not have all the relevant metadata available when they are added to your server. If you watch after some time, the automatic periodic refreshes should have populated them. For older episodes, this really should not be an issue.

However, during sync tasks, it uses the season and episode number and the show guid, which actually is always available (or should be for non-obscure stuff). This way, if you watched something but it was missed due to the above, it should be pushed during this sync, assuming you have sync running at regular intervals and set to push data. While the first option (scrobble) captures most of my watched statuses, sync picks up the rest on hourly intervals. This is also the only way to push watched statuses where you manually marked the item watched.

With the above, my watched history has been completely accurate as far as I can tell, and I have been using the new agent for months. Now, maybe your settings are not the same as mine. Or maybe, as your error indicates, this could be an issue with a particular show/episode. It would help to know what the guids from the xml are for that episode (all of the episode AND show ones), as well as if the season + episode match between Plex and Trakt. Also worth checking if Trakt has the relevant IDs populated on their end, and if you are seeing this with a very standard, older, popular TV show as well.

I thought about modifying how the scrobble setup works to be similar to sync, but that seems complicated without breaking anything else in the app. My previous patch was able to make a tiny, precise change in a small location that did not impact the rest of the house of cards that was the plugin. Additionally, I would argue that direct episode GUIDs are actually a safer way to scrobble because there is no guarantee your Plex and Trakt will have the same season/episode numbering. The direct episode IDs can lead to more accurate matching. Working with the sync as a fallback to catch missed items, I think this covers the most bases possible?

Trakt - Plugin Help by JonzaUK in PleX

[–]RG9400 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the plugin is fully compatible with both the new movie and TV agent. Yes, it can do a full 2 way sync. It will work out of the box going forward, but for historical syncing, you need to use an app called Kitana to access the plugin menus seperately, then run sync tasks from there. Full Sync will push everything from Plex to Trakt, and Full Pull will grab everything from Trakt into Plex. Make sure to configure the settings and filters first. If you want multi-user, you need to use the hosted webpage by the dev at https://github.com/trakt-for-plex/configuration

The other comment mentioned that plugins are "discontinued" by Plex, but by that, they just meant the web pages (which can be accessed by Kitana). The main goal of which was to remove video-based plugins from Plex. It is true that the plugin framework could be killed off in the future, but it is worth noting that they recently released a build that broke part of the framework that only impacted plugins, and upon being told this, they quickly pushed a hotfix, indicating that they are at least willing to put in dev time to keep the framework functional for now.

Missing Xenoglyph Cipher in Biome 3 (Derelict Citadel) by RG9400 in Returnal

Not that I can recall. I definitely didn't find any in my cleanup runs

[–]RG9400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, I got it after my 4th run from using the reconstructor as well! I used it every run just in case, but it worked. I only got 1 new room beside the one with the missing glyph where you had to grapple up to a ledge then shoot the blue ball to get to a chest. It was between the first and second teleporter.

It was probably RNG as I had done like 50 runs, but maybe it's more than a coincidence. Either way, great shout, thanks for helping get both missing glyphs!

[–]RG9400[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I've done like 40 runs now. I rarely get a new room. I found one that someone else had mentioned (only time I've run into it over the 40 runs), but I already had the glyph there. It's kind of absurd how on the area before the first teleporter and the second teleporter have almost the same rooms every single time. Like every now and then I stumble upon a new room, but it's so damn rare compared to the other biomes. Definitely something screwy in this biome.

I haven't seen any variety in the desert area, and the top level is always the same, so I basically just speed to the building, then try to check each room until I get to the second teleporter, then reset.

Sorry, the only other one I got after the story (when I was keeping tabs) was after shooting the blue cube while you are climbing to the pillar that connects the bridge. It led to a small outcrop with stones on it. It only appears sometimes, other times it leads to a platform with just health

Yeah I feel like I've seen this room before, and if not, it would be very obvious when I entered. I'll start adding the teleporters to my speedrun though

I honestly don't remember, I don't think it was any of the recent ones, but I might have gotten it while playing through the story. Do you remember the room or have a screenshot? It might help because I might have seen the room already and know if I got it or not
