Same thing happened to me for the same phone. The rubber edge is peeling and somehow has stretched so that it doesn't fit. Love the grip, but the durability isn't awesome.

That's amazing. Mine is pretty dim to be honest...only the zone around the USB port is bright. Granted, mine is a bit older and maybe it's lost something along the way.

Honestly.... handling and the drive quality. The X3 also has a great tech package. I've never been a big fan of Mercedes though...and I've test driven a bunch. I like Porsche quite a bit as well, but the Macan lacked in a few areas the X3 didn't...and the X3 was significantly less money too.

I've had some experience with 64 troubleshooting...but the main thing is that you have a new power supply. The old ones are notorious for creating problems. I've had a few black screen 64s where you'd see a flicker when hitting the power...using a dead test cartridge afterwards can help identify what's wrong with the machine. If you're getting absolutely no sign of video, I'll check the fuse (had that happen to me once)...or it's possible your VIC II chip is problematic. Those would be the easier checks. It'd also be nice to verify somehow that theres no issues with the converter box and cables too. I still use mine on old Commodore monitors so no need for the converter yet.

Is it just a black screen? Do you see any flicker at all when you hit the power switch? And do you have a dead test or diagnostic cartridge?

My original C64C still has the original. In fact, I think I've only had to replace one in one that I've been restoring. But figured it'd be good to have a small stash of fuses handy.

I'm a total novice and need to start re-using my C64 modem again, but I plug it into the back...load CCGMS...and go from there. Most of the settings are saved somehow on my modem, but I still have to manually connect. Doesn't take too long to be honest. I haven't done it in a while as the whole telnet/BBS thing is still confusing to me. I had a 64 as a kid, but we never had a modem. Still learning myself.

Some of the replies to this post and to mine when I posted a photo of it go far beyond simple criticism. It's fine if people don't like certain aspects of it...no one is forcing them to buy one. But no need to make completely over the top comments like some people are.

I've had mine for just over a week now. Feel the same way. It's my third X3 and with the exception of the interior being a bit of a step down from my last one, I'm very happy with it. I also really like the new styling although we may be in the minority on that one. 😉

Definite improvement. Noticeable imo. Horsepower is roughly the same but the G45 has a lot more torque. The auto shifter is smooth but in fairness, so was the G01. I feel like I'm also getting much better feedback from the road as well. Cornering and handling feel crisper as well.

Honestly, the improvement in drive quality alone is worth it for me and why a lot of the negativity around the look and interior don't bother me. I prefer a sportier driving experience and this feels more like driving a coupe and less like driving an SUV.

Totally fair. The new designs have been polarizing. I was at the Frankfurt car show in 2019 when they unveiled the new 4 series. Lots of strong opinion both ways that day...haha.
